QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 01:55 AM) I actually thought you were serious in the "this team is so bad and disappointing that once they finally reach the point where my expectations couldn't be any lower, they beat some ridiculously talented team" mindset. Hell no, they've absolutely quit. Things have gotten so ridiculous with the program that members of the AD openly talk about who the next coach will be in front of Hewitt at AD meetings. Hewitt is gone around March 11th. -

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Feb 21, 2011 -> 02:41 AM) Coach K gets a T, and then GT gets 5 straight fouls called on them. Shocking. No fouls called in final 10 minutes of first half against Duke. And I don't think there's enough green in the world for my "GT will win tonight". They could have J. Jack, Thad Young, Favors, Bosh, and Morrow on the court and Hewitt would still find a way to lose. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) Im with this. If Duke wins tonight, I wouldn't be shocked to see them #1 even though it would be a sham. Mark my words, Duke will lose tonight. -

QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 20, 2011 -> 08:08 PM) Exactly what I was thinking fathom. He is the reason OSU is down right now. If there was ever a play on the take, it's Thomas in this game. His missed FT couldn't have been more of a brick, and for a guy shooting 83 percent on the year, that was very interesting. -

Deshaun Thomas is playing like he's on drugs in this OSU/Purdue game. -

The more I watch Illinois, the more I feel they are way too overcoached. As Hubert Davis said at halftime, there's way too much talent on the court for so many players to be timid. -

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 09:23 PM) Well, at least we scared Mizzou. If next year's team, the one that will have Chris Allen and Royce White and actual talent, plays as hard as this year's, they are Top 25. I just hope Baylor is the 5 seed in the Big 12 tourney. I keep telling you not to get that excited with Chris Allen. He basically was a bust at Michigan State. White's the one with the exciting potential, IMO. -
Goodness, what the heck happened to the office the past few weeks? This season had been going well.
-
QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:34 AM) He's an ace in his mindset, if his arm agrees even 50%, he's in good shape. Um, no. As he proved at times last year, if he's not healthy and throwing in the 92-94 mph range, he's a mediocre pitcher. I'm skeptical at what KW was trying to get across when talking about Peavy's health issues today.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Yep. Today is a sad, sad days for those of us who value starting pitching. Yeah, I was kinda puzzled by all the people agreeing with the move at the start of this thread. He either should be the closer or he should start the season as a starter. Kinda makes the money on Ohman seem more excessive.
-
No, it doesn't lead to more revenue for Jerry. From people close to JR, he couldn't have been more pissed off about Ozzie/KW drama last year. And don't worry, the Cubs 2011 season might as well be known as "The Pujols Recruitment Year"

QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 04:45 AM) I'm shocked Illinois didn't lose. I hate watching Weber's teams on offense (actually, defense too but they are better there). They need to bring in an offensive coordinator...burning off the shot clock with a bunch of looping slow passes (slow enough to allow constant double-teaming that generated turnovers) to take a worse shot than you could have gotten by just chucking at the beginning of the set is ridiculous. And it's clearly not the players choice...you can tell they would rather run. I only saw last 20 seconds, but read elsewhere that Richmond had some attitude issues again. Someone needs to tell him to knock if off, as he needs to back-up his attitude on the court with his play. -

Damn, that would have been a hell of a shot by Michigan to win it. Illini fans at least can't blame the seniors tonight. -

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 09:00 PM) McCamey will be drafted. I know he has sucked lately but if you look at the garbage that goes in the 2nd round, he'll fall in there somewhere. Not much of a market for a 4 year player with attitude issues. Recent draft reports on him have not been favorable. He'll need a strong postseason to get himself back into good standing with scouts. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) The three worst refs in the country are all predominantly Big Ten refs. Hillary, Burr, and Hightower. Valentine is bad too, but he doesn't do a whole lot here. Anyways, it's a wonder why the officiating in the conference is so bad. I'm actually to the point where I almost like seeing Hightower. Teddy Valentine is the worst, IMO. BTW, heard this stat earlier which is crazy: Bruce Weber in 13 years as a D1 coach has never signed a player that got drafted. That will end in two years likely, but still that's crazy to hear. -
Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
fathom replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 07:16 PM) That was one of my first arguments. Pujols seems like the kind of guy that wouldn't want to do that to his legacy. But then if it's true that he turned down that offer from the Cardinals of 8/240, he might not give a rat's ass about his legacy. The 8/240 was inaccurate, and sounds more like it was 8/204. -

People keep mentioning the Cubs, but has anyone thought maybe Pujols wouldn't want to tarnish his legacy with the Cardinals and go play for their rival? To me, if Pujols leaves the Cards, it will be for the AL. -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 05:43 PM) Last year we were all quite worried about the DH situation. Turned out we had a reason to be. This year...not so worried.

It's going to be comical at Wrigley this year when the Cubs fans give Pujols a standing ovation. -
So HBO Real Sports says Marlon Byrd has been working with Victor Conte for the last 4 seasons. That's just too funny for a lot of reasons.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 03:22 AM) Cards reportedly offer Albert 8 years, $240 million via Heyman. He would be nuts not to take this deal. Sadly, it seems like he's determined to get 10/300 from someone. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) I'd probably take Sullinger, Irving, Perry Jones, Derrick Williams, Brandon Knight and his teammate Jordan Hamilton over him. I love D. Williams, but I'm not sure how his game will translate either. He's going to end up being a small forward likely. -

IIRC, Enes said if they ruled him ineligible, he'd stay another year. However, as 99 pointed out, if he's permanently ineligible, then obviously it would make no sense. -

Palehose, I'm a big fan of Williams, but his game doesn't translate well to the NBA level right now. Thompson's wing span is insane, which should boost him up the ranks. Also, I thought I heard Kanter might stay another year at Kentucky. -

Sadly, the Tubby Smith to GT rumors are starting. Every smart GT fan I know does not want Tubby there, as the Atlanta area AAU and high school coaches do not like him.
