  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 02:41 AM) Damn Young just kills us. Yep, he's definitely made us his b****. Just start Harrell, Torres, etc. now down the stretch. Don Cooper, you massively underachieved this season.
  2. Our starting pitching has just fallen off the planet once again.
  3. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) He didn't put on a show though. He just looked at the ump and took a step forward and the ump rewarded him first. Pretty sure he held his wrist though. The worst "fake HBP" took place earlier in 2005, when Berkman acted like he was hit in the head against the Cubs, even though it clearly hit his bat and bounced away.
  4. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 09:08 PM) Yep. Doing it costing the Red Sox? Ya.. the East coast bias wouldn't live it down. Doing it against Minnesota? ...the f*** is that state gonna do? I gotta say though being with Minka Kelly has made Jeter an excellent actor now-a-days. Plus, didn't JD do that in the playoffs? Yep, it was the batter before Konerko's infamous grand slam.
  5. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 03:39 AM) Liriano > ?? > ?? > ?? for the playoffs, against the Yankees who are, let's be honest, in the Twins heads just as much as the Twins are in the Sox heads. The Yankees don't have a great rotation either, but they have a ridiculous lineup and an average bullpen and an ace closer. Nick Blackburn and Carl Pavano would be destroyed by the Yankees. Imagine if Pavano had to start a game at NYS, hahaha. It'd be like Gavin pitching with a runner on base, the horror. Duensing should be up for Cy Young votes based on his amazing contributions this season (not really, but it's hard to argue with his productivity). Something they were talking about on the radio the other day is how the Twins are going to be a hot spot for FA pitchers, as everyone would love to pitch half their games in that cavernous park.
  6. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 03:39 AM) I think definitely Ozzie has given away outs this season. But just imagine how bad this offense would have been if he wasn't constantly putting runners in motion. This lineup has more speed than power. But what it really lacks is ability. What it really lacks is home run threats outside of Konerko, Jones, Ramirez, Rios, and Quentin.
  7. Have I said how much I hate Ozzie lately? http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...s-can-wait.html
  8. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 02:36 AM) So. You implied that Peavy struggled due to the adjustment, when in reality, AAA teams probably would have hit him hard with the stuff he was throwing.
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 02:34 AM) There pitching needs to improve along with it. They've got some money now for next season. A good farm and a few bucks will make them tough to beat. I still think they will be one and done if their first opponent is the Yankees. What's wrong with their pitching?
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 02:31 AM) Yep, but pitching and D was bad. The pen was the only group that showed up. I'm beginning to believe getting guys from the NL will not improve an AL team overnight. They have to make a big adjustment to facing pitchers they're not familiar with. A NL pitcher like Peavy is not use to facing a league where one division will have more hitters than the entire NL. While Jackson blows that theory, Hudson looks really good pitching in the NL. Maybe Kenny should stay away from getting NL players and the Royals. Adjusting to the NL didn't cause Peavy to throw 89 mph fastballs and flat sliders.
  11. Hey Herm, please tell Ozzie that Beckham is hurting. Swinging one-handed is not a good sign that the player is healthy.
  12. Just looking at the Twins lineup, if Morneau can return healthy next season, there's no reason they cannot win 95-100 games again. Just absurd depth throughout with a few superstars around them.
  13. Time to shut down Santos and Sale for the season.
  14. I find it funny how Zambrano now has a lower ERA than any of our starters besides Danks. Maybe Anger Management classes meant visiting a supplier?
  15. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 02:02 AM) You can't blame the season on lack of a DH. This team was built on pitching and has been the most disappointing group. There's no DH on the planet that can over come that. You don't know that. If we got off to a better start this year, especially offensively. we would have had a lot more breathing room. Don't forget Kotsay's horrible ability to hit with RISP and the rally killing that resulted.
  16. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:58 AM) no. I look forward to their early playoff exit. People say this so often about the Twins, it's like it's a defense mechanism. I don't care how they do in the postseason, because if they take our spot in the postseason, then that's all that matters to me.
  17. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:56 AM) Well Ozzie was the one who wanted to play NL style in his personal 2003 wayback machine. Too bad we play in the AL and have a position called Designated Hitter that he decided to put a few bench players in. But hey, our players are well rested for October tee time. I really do love the fact we dominated against NL team again this season, but were very mediocre against AL teams. Self-fulfilling prophecies seem to come true so often with the Sox.
  18. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:55 AM) I don't know why. Preseason predictions had this team finishing 3rd or 4th. Yeah, 2006 was much more disappointing.
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:49 AM) I like cooper but I am ready to clean the entire house out. The only one I want to definately keep is Hahn. That entire group that was in the room with Kenny during the Hudson trade on the Club can go as well. Now that you saw the episode I saw, how about that freaking dumbass who said "acquiring a lefty hitter isn't important because in the playoffs, we'll face a lot of lefty pitchers". I hope that person never works another day in baseball.
  20. Gavin's ERA going to be over 4 now...but yeah, safe to say Twins starting pitching is just a little better than ours.
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:46 AM) Well Danks hasn't signed an extension and is going to be costly. Buerhle is basically untradeable at this point. Edwin is a boras client, so enjoy next year and thats it. Our rotation is going to turn itself over in the next few years one way or another. Thankfully Kenny decided to go for it and dump one of our best pitching prospects. More like "our only pitching prospect"
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) Same formula we have every year in the 2nd half. Our offense basically shrivels up. Game is kept close for a bit, we get some situation where the bases are loaded and we choke. The following inning the Twinks break it open. Same f***ing formula, year after year. We keep changing players, same thing. So maybe its time to clean house and start over. I know I'm the most Anti-Ozzie guy on here, but is there still any real doubt that there needs to be a shake up with the KW/Ozzie/Walker/Cooper foursome? I can't imagine even the most optimstic/Ozzie supporters would disagree.
  23. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 16, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) What did he say? That Sox righty hitters have one hit to left field all day, and that if you keep trying to pull the ball vs Duensing, you're going to have no chance.
