Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 12:59 AM) Another GIDP for Rios. It might be time to start worrying about this. Might be? His swing is soooooo slow through the zone.

Hey, what new...a double play for Rios. That's 10 since the ASB. He's going all Jermaine Dye on us right now.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 12:55 AM) That's a good point...We don't hit as well on the road. I don't think getting Adam LaRoche would have changed a whole lot about that. Question though, we really didn't hear any rumors about LaRoche...I wonder if he was just unavailable? Yes, he was available, but Arizona was shocked at how little interest there was in him.

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 11:49 PM) The offense has been more than adequate over the past 50 games. We'd have all loved to get a big bat, but I still feel pretty good if we can just get Q to give us some consistency and use the bats that we do have correctly. I don't trust this lineup at all on the road though. At home, I have all the confidence in them like they're the '27 Yankees.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 12:49 AM) I hate Ozzie's use of bunts, but he seems to have a knack for knowing when to put the hit and run on. That was the perfect situation for it. Vizquel literally had the entire right side of the infield open in that AB when Pierre was in motion. And man, this umpire has the smallest zone ever.

That 0-2 pitch seemed to be right down the plate. Gavin doesn't seem to have a very good fastball tonight, as he's a few mph below what he's usually at.

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 8, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) They look a little better today. Vizquel killed us with his at bat in the first...Rios is hurting with a bad wrist....but that inning was just bad luck. I don't get why Ozzie has gone away from the hit-and-run. Seems he's been extremely reluctant to call that lately. In that Vizquel AB, no excuse not to put a play in motion.

Well, that's not something we've seen a lot of. Come on Sox, pick it up!

Twins up 2-0

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
Ugh, nice swing by Beckham, but no results. This offense desperately needs some type of spark. BTW, anyone see that Laroche is destroying the ball again? Shocker, didn't see that coming.

Pretty nice approach there by AJP. This is the perfect pitcher for Beckham to line a shot down the RF line.

Trying to bunt a 3-1 pitch with no one on and two outs = DUMB BASEBALL

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
Quentin's back into the mode of chasing pitcher's pitches on the first pitch of the count. He's playing right into the opposition's scouting report.

Filthy Gavin!

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
AJP seems very jumpy behind home plate today. Very odd mannerisms for him.

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
Twins already with the lead...Sox offense needs to wake up. Very lethargic swings. The paper said today that Rios is dealing with a bad wrist, and it's obvious by watching him bat that his bat speed is suffering.

Sox @ Orioles - Floyd vs. Millwood
Millwood has nothing on his pitches. Really thought Vizquel would have an easy time of hitting a grounder into the hole between first and second.

the comments after the loss in the game thread
Anyone else having internet issues with At&t in the south suburbs? I had very sporadic internet usage during the game last night, which made Laporta's home run even more gratifying.

The Chris Sale Thread
Sale's fastball was as good as advertised. Didn't like the 0-2 pitch selection after Markakis had never seen his slider.

I was really hoping that Dunn would suck after the trade deadline passed.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 02:08 AM) I look forward to this offense facing the likes of Lee or Sabathia in the playoffs. This team isn't making s*** unless Quentin and Rios get their heads out of their ass. Also, feel free to play our most dangerous hitter more in Castro. AJP is a complete waste of a lineup spot.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 02:05 AM) Games against bad teams don't matter, so don't get too worked up about it. This game felt like a Spring Training game. Think about this, our lineup to end this game was: Pierre Lillibridge Vizquel Quentin Kotsay Ramirez AJP Viciedo Beckham and Pena pitching his 3rd inning of relief

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 03:04 AM) Well, thats embarassing. Good job, gents, one run on the worst team in baseball. Doesn't Showalter own Ozzie?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 7, 2010 -> 03:01 AM) Other teams take the extra base on us so often and so easily. I have no idea why Ozzie played Lillibridge the whole game. Terrible game all-around.
