  1. During our 26-5 stretch, this is where Quentin would cap off the crooked inning with a bomb!
  2. Man, Rios is hitting into a ton of double plays since the ASB.
  3. Juan!! It was going to take a double to score Castro, and that's what he delivered.
  4. Words cannot describe how much better Beckham is at the plate than he was earlier in the year.
  5. Jeez, this isn't going well. Gonna have to put something on these pitches.
  6. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:41 PM) correct, but that doesnt cause him to lose his effectiveness.....bigger parks give an advantage to the flyball pitchers we are comparing the sinkerballers to, but it doesnt cause them to "lose their effectiveness" as he said Should have said lose their advantage, not their effectiveness
  7. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) how so? the thought is that sinkerballers effectiveness is less correlated to the ballpark, thus they are better suited for small ballparks, but the reverse is certainly not necessarily true See my post to ss2k. Just speaking in general, not for every sinker ball pitcher. Someone like Buehrle would struggle at Target Field, I truly believe.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Infields aren't different sized. I wasn't saying every sinker baller would be that way. Some guys who have fly ball totals are also strike out pitchers (like Lilly). Sinker ballers that pitch to contact would struggle in Colorado in the past because there is so much room in the outfield.
  9. Viciedo played cause we were facing a lefty pitcher!
  10. Just a guess, but my trade prediction is Morel and Harrell for Branyan. Seattle has shown interest in Morel the past few weeks.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) Which pitcher wouldn't? Well, sinker ballers would possibly lose their effectiveness pitching in a huge ballpark.
  12. I'd say no thanks to Downs based on what Toronto is asking for. With Thornton, and to a lesser extent Theets/Sale, another lefty in the pen is probably the last thing we need.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Do you honestly think if they swept the Cardinals that Hendry would reverse his course and go into buy mode instead of sell mode? This team had no intentions of reaching october baseball at all. They wouldn't have gone into buyer mode, but they would have tried to keep the team together going into August if they were able to get the lead down to 5 or 6.
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 12:45 PM) It's always suspicious to me when mainstream journalists are talking about a deal if some obscure person calls it a done deal. Not buying it yet. I am actually for the trade, though, pending on what's given up. Yeah, Lilly might struggle with the HR ball, but he doesn't walk people, has minimized hits and it still a very solid pitcher. He is better than Freddy and Hudson right now, too, this move would still improve out team. Maybe Nevin Griffin + Lucas Harrel could get the job done. One solid prospect, one close-to-ready prospect. With Lilly being such a hot commodity right now, you have to believe the Cubs have been offered significantly better packages than that.
  15. Hopefully this is just a ploy by the Cubs to get the Tigers/Twins to offer up more
  16. That a boy Jenks! Best stuff he's had all year. Greg, I GIVE HIM CREDIT!
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:57 AM) There's one thing for sure, there's going to be a meltdown from the entire board if Jenks blows this one... The fans will also boo him off the field
  18. It would be very nice if Quentin could prove that the last few weeks prior to the ASB weren't a fluke. He's just not the same player since he got HBP in the first game in Minnesota after the break.
  19. Can someone hack into the phones at US Celluar and make it so Ozzie can't call down to the bullpen?
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 03:48 AM) Oh jesus christ. This sets up Bobby for the 9th. Oh yeah, and likely to face some lefties who can DESTROY fastballs.
