  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:15 AM) Bringing in new coaches isn't the answer. You need different players. See Mazzone, Leo and Jaramillo, Rudy as a couple examples of guys given a ton of money sent to bad situations. See what happens when the talent level isn't up to par. No Orioles pitching coach will be good when their pitchers have to face the AL East teams so often.
  2. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:10 AM) How has Walker not been scapegoated yet? I'm not saying he deserves all the blame, but i would have thought someone would have taken the fall for this. Hopefully it's a package deal and they're all gone.
  3. Another pathetic game by Beckham...not a line drive in sight. Keep up the good work Gordon and Walker.
  4. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:44 AM) What a year he's having. I love his approach at the plate. Him and Hart have some great productivity this season.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:49 AM) I agree. I don't think even the biggest pessimist would have thought things would go as bad as they have, but realistically this is an average team at best which is where most of the projections place them. Not the World Series contender KW made them out to be. Exactly
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:48 AM) The sox were 12th last year, they're 10th this year. We are better offensively in 2010 than we were in 2009 with Thome, Dye, and the great Podsednik. Do you know what we were in the first half of year vs second half of year last season?
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:47 AM) The team that finished 10th in the AL in offense last year played game 163 against the Twins. You can win with this level of offense...with the level we're getting right now...if you can pitch. We can't do anything. I thought you said it was the Sox who came in 10th last year.
  8. 20k tonight....be interesting to see how bad attendance is tomorrow
  9. Mark Kotsay is a great bench player to have. Let him start maybe once every 8-9 games, come in to face tough righty relievers, and let him play 1B if Konerko is hurt. The problem is the way he's been used.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:43 AM) This offense is actually outperforming last year's offense. We're 10th in the AL right now; last year we were 12th. And we all agreed that last year's offense just wasn't good enough. However, I COMPLETELY agree with what you're saying. It's hard to win when almost all of your main players are having bad years.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:39 AM) I just can't accept this line of reasoning. This roster was fine. The players are just all regressing to absolute s*** at one time. It's almost impossible to comprehend. This roster needed a lot of near career years to compete in this division it felt like from the offense.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:38 AM) I was having more fun in 2006 than 2005. When Gooch hit that slam off Lidge to tie the game at 9 when we had been down 9-1 I think I screamed louder than when Konerko hit the slam off Qualls. that was an amazing game...the Sox felt invincible. A similar game that week which was awesome was the 1-0 game vs the Cardinals.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:35 AM) It really is an indictment on Kenny Williams that they have nobody better to replace Teahen. We have Omar Vizquel and Mark Kotsay in our everyday lineup....in 2010!! What a bad organization this is right now. It's embarrassingly bad. We were talking about it earlier. You can't keep making bad trades and expect to have a competent roster. The Swisher debacles really hurt the talent in both the majors and minors, and then the Peavy trade killed our pitching depth. KW should thanks his stars Rios has rebounded this season.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:34 AM) I will say one thing, at least this team isn't teasing us. They've been horses*** from day 1. I give them props for that. I'm still not over 2003 and 2006. People forget how good the team was in 2006 during the first half of the season. Those games vs the NL were magical.
  15. Ozzie's going to burn a lot of bridges on his way out of town...and hopefully it happens soon.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 02:32 AM) Wood is actually a really good example, because he's a guy who had great stuff, and even before the injuries took over, he never put everything together for more than brief stretches. yes, but he never had close to the command and repeatable delivery that Strasburg has. Wood also never had anything close to a change-up.
  17. Way to jinx it Brian, as his hit in the 9th contributed to the go-ahead run.
  18. In honor of the CWS starting soon, can Gordon use an aluminum bat again? I want warm, fuzzy memories of him.
  19. QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:28 AM) i agree he's got nasty stuff but so did mark prior and look where he's at (im just jealous he's not a sox) Prior's fastball average was like 94 mph and he never really perfected his change-up. Strasburg is like a combo of Wood's stuff with Prior's command.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 03:28 AM) You know, even if we'd have had a higher pick by a couple, there's a good shot we'd have wound up with Gordon anyway. And I'm fine with that, it was a good pick. It's when you end up in the 15-20 range even though you were never really in contention.
