7/9 - KC Royals @ ChiSox
Ugh, Castro needs to be playing against LHP! And Greg, still don't think they're trying to get #400 at home for Andruw?

Oswalt
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) And it seems like a lot of players in recent years with a NTC have turned us down. Is our management/coaching not respected around the league? Well, Ozzie was voted one of the top two managers you'd least like to play for.

QUOTE (kev211 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) This coupled with the NBA news from last night...f*** sports. How is this not GREAT news? It went from Twins leading for him to him going to the Yankees. Please don't tell me you thought the Sox would contend for his services?

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 07:19 PM) I disagree with a ton of stuff on here, but this has been my favorite thread in a long, long time. of course you do. It's like participating in a thread about the hottest girl in the world, and you're married to Marissa Miller.

I'll root for Scheyer, as he was significantly better in college than I ever thought he would be.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:11 PM) Give? No. Be in a hurry to get a big salary off the books and get some prospects in a bad system? Heck yes. I think ultimately, LaRoche will cost more in prospects/players, but less in money, so the deals may be similar in overall effect. I'd try to widdle down deals for both as far as possible, look at each as a complete deal, and pick one. I think they will be close. And which prospects are we going to give them? They have no need for Flowers, as catching is the only position they have youth at. Hudson's not going anywhere either.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) Drayton McClane has said he will eat more salary though if it means better prospects... Yes, and that was for Oswalt as they're trying to destroy the Rangers farm system.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:06 PM) But, because of Berkman's salary, I'd guess it might take fewer prospects/players in value to get him, than to get LaRoche. Completely disagree. As someone just mentioned, Berkman's a legend there. Astros aren't just going to give him away.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 05:21 PM) Yeah, I agree...I really want us to find out what the DBacks want for Kelly Johnson. But my guess is that would be Gordon Beckham. Rizzo's on a power trip, as he doesn't want to hurt the momentum the Nationals have going by trading Dunn without getting big names back.

I'm telling you, KW just needs to hang up the phone with Washington. It's not worth going after Dunn, especially if he's going to be unhappy.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 04:20 PM) How are Dumars and Kahn idiots? Granted Dumars hasn't had a couple of good seasons, but he built Detroit into a NBA Championship team. In a couple of seasons, Kahn's loaded up the Wolves with quite a few good young assets to say the least. What else could he have done to make Minny any better? Not drafted two points guard

Using any form of statistics to judge how good the Heat could be is silly, as there's no way to know how James/Wade playing together will impact their performance.

J4L, the mere fact we can even worry about this stuff right now is good enough for me. If we get to the playoffs, then great! Who knows, maybe the Tank will be our secret weapon against LHP.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) I'd agree with a healthy Peavy. too bad we can't see Peavy vs Vazquez in the postseason...a battle of the worst postseason reputations.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) Just woke up 15 minutes ago and realized what happened last night. It really is true that certain events don't hit you at first. A little time has to go by. I can't believe the Heat are about to 6-peat. There's not a chance in hell that happens.

QUOTE (docsox24 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) Wow I would have expected the price to be higher. I have a friend who is a big yankee fan and he keeps telling me how hard it is to be a yankee fan because they have such high expectations. I always want to punch him. It's Montero and a few more players. Montero's struggled this year, but he's still a top-notch prospect. Mariners were desperate to acquire a young catcher...so that's why it's great the Yankees got involved cause Lee would have been going to Minnesota instead.

Adam Dunn Trade rumor thread
From all accounts, no chance Dunn signs an extension if he's going to end up being a DH. If you sign him, it's probably goodbye to Paul Konerko, which means you have to keep Viciedo. We just don't have the bullets to acquire a top guy right now.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:53 AM) Ok, but if you sign him and give him significant minutes, don't complain about the lack of defense. Everyone wants to point out flaws on all the available names, but everyone seems to gush about Morrow as if he is a complete player. You also have to realize that he played for a team that absolutely doesn't stress defense. He played his role to perfection. I'm not saying he'd be a defensive stopper by any means.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Jul 9, 2010 -> 06:48 AM) Ever since fathom mentioned Morrow, I've been intrigued by him. He seems like he would be a good fit with Rose. Rose penetrates, kicks it out to Morrow for a three. Morrow would be the best pure shooter the Bulls have had in two decades (besides Steve Kerr, but Morrow is way more of a complete offensive player)
