  1. Honestly, playing Vizquel at DH isn't a big deal with Quentin being out. On the list of things hurting this team this season, playing Vizquel one game at DH isn't in the top 50. Now, if you want to talk about him being a waste of a roster spot, I'll fully support that. No reason for him and Nix to be on the same roster.
  2. Once in a lifetime rotation Greg? Going into 2006, we heard the Sox had the greatest rotation ever. So that makes it twice in a 5 year span that it's the greatest rotation ever.
  3. I really can't imagine Texas would give up Salty for 4 months of AJP. With that said, Texas has a ton of prospects though that I'm sure the Sox would be happy to take off their hands.
  4. IIRC, the Sox have scored in 7 of their last 46 innings. That is truly pathetic.
  5. Every time Floyd's hung a curve, the opposition has made him pay. The problem is so far he's hanging a lot of pitches. As someone said earlier, he's just another underachieving player on an underachieving team.
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 16, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) Ever heard of Paul Konerko? What about him?
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 16, 2010 -> 11:07 PM) He's only been in the bigs for about a year. Very irrational... It's one thing to struggle. It's another to show zero ability to square a ball up.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) Great. So we can draft another top prospect who rips apart the league and then falls apart in his 2nd season. (I don't necessarily believe that, I'm just furious with 15 right now). Just call Beckham "Josh Caruso" for now on until he earns being called differently.
  9. It's crazy, but I feel like I never see Dwight Howard play well on the offensive end.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Honestly, having AJ become a 10/5 player in Mid June might actually be a blessing...it forces KW to make his first decision on a player within just under a month from now. He can't hold out until July on AJ. agreed
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) To me, Danks equals a more gifted and potentially talented Brian Anderson, but still more of a 4th OF unless he figures out the offensive side of the game. Brian Anderson had just as much talent, IMO. A lot better power.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2010 -> 10:14 PM) Hitting in AAA though isn't going to teach him to make more contact. Especially not in Charlotte, where HR's are so easy to come by. I agree, he needs to get familiar with the speed of MLB games. I'll be honest, with the Sox showing absolutely no signs of breaking out of this season long funk, I hope we continue to lose games in the standings to force some changes.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 16, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) So Jordan Danks, Tyler Flowers have nothing to learn in AAA, but send Beckham down? That makes zero sense. I understand people want different personnel, I do as well, but I want better personnel, not just some minor league guys doing the same damn thing. Danks isn't even hitting .250 and fanning at an incredible rate. Flowers whiffs almost 40% of the time, if they have nothing to learn, its scary how bad this organization really is. Of course it's scary how bad this organization is. People think Danks 2 is this huge prospect, where in reality he wouldn't be in the top 5 of most every other organization.
  14. Sounds like Wednesday might be the decision day for a lot of our personnel.
  15. How would we miss AJ behind the plate? He's abysmal at blocking pitches, we all know he can't throw, and it's not like our starting pitchers are shining with his expertise pitch calling.
  16. Please blow this team up sooner rather than later.
  17. Kotsay is so damn slow. Who didn't see that coming?
  18. What's the harm in sending Beckham down right now? If he goes down there and proves to himself he can hit, then great, you call him back up. If he goes down there and continues to struggle to barrel up anything, then you start figuring what out what needs to be done next.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2010 -> 08:21 PM) I still say it won't help Beckham sending him down. What more can he do down there? You work on things and man up in the big leagues. Ride the storm out, baby. Why the f*** would the White Sox send him down?? Ridiculous. He has the ability. Show it. Bat him ninth the rest of the year if you have to. Oh wait, we already have 3-4 candidates for ninth. It wouldn't be the first time a team did this. It would take some of the pressure off of him, and hopefully let him enjoy playing this game. You don't want another Josh Fields situation on our hands.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) Sending Beckham down won't help us win games. He's old enough and mature enough to be in the majors. He has to ride it out up here and show what he's got. Team is going nowhere either way. Going down will not help him or the team. Playing Omar and Nix is no better. I don't f***ing care about this team winning games anymore this season. Beckham turning it around for the next few years is a lot more important than a futile attempt to win 75 games this season. He needs to go to AAA and hopefully start hitting the ball hard and gaining confidence in his swing. It's not happening at the major league level.
  21. QUOTE (TitoMB @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) Awful at bat by Becks, and Jones flys out deep to left. Beckham saw 6 straight fast balls. It's absolutely frightening how infrequently he hits the ball hard. It's like he's this year's version of Rios with the Sox last season.
  22. Another game, another awful performance by Beckham. Time to send him down to AAA.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 16, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) How can you blame the managing for guys failing at the plate? Oh yeah, he should have pinch hit for two high paid starters. And pinch hit with the equally bad crap on the bench. Teahen is one of the worst hitters in baseball against LHP this year. With the tying run at the plate, you have to go to your bench. There's no excuse to have a game where you're facing a righty starter, and then have a situation where you have 4 lefties face a lefty reliever in the same inning.
  24. Pierre was trying to hit a home run that AB, it seemed. What pathetic managing that inning.
