  1. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 11:28 PM) Uh-oh, i just heard a clip of him talking about this and he said, "maybe one change... Vizquel in the lineup." Kill me. Wow! Not good, especially since Alexei was probably our best hitter during the Cleveland series.
  2. We can all breathe easier knowing it wasn't a member of the Cubs bullpen besides Carlos Marmol. That would have been bad!
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) No one is giving up anything for him. Yeah, so just open up the roster spot then. Bring up a long reliever if needed.
  4. Nix really needs to be traded, as he's worthless if he's not going to be used against tough lefties and/or to pinch run.
  5. No guesses? Mine would be Brett Myers...no proof, just throwing out a name that would fit the criteria.
  6. QUOTE (Ranger @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) That was also with the assumption that everyone else would perform to their norms, which is not yet happening. So we're back to the slogan "the numbers on the back of a baseball card don't lie?" Awesome, so I guess regressions to PK, Pierre, and AJP shouldn't have been considered due to age and wear and tear. One of the main reasons a lot of us kept clamoring for more talent on offense towards the end of the offseason was because we were relying way too much on "ifs". There was no room for error with the offensive talent on this team, and it's obvious when we try to shake up the lineup and Kotsay ends up batting 3rd.

    AJ article

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 07:26 AM) AJ is as good as gone at the deadline if anybody wants him and we're out of it. The interesting question is would Paulie be willing to waive his 10 and 5 if we wanted to get something for him and send him to a contender. There's no doubt in my mind PK would accept any trade in that scenario.
  8. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 02:53 AM) jeez, im ALMOST starting to feel sorry for the cubs, its the same thing every single day, heartbreaking losses lol Their bullpen plan is to what our offensive plan was this year. Both front offices should be fired for having such a high payroll with such glaring holes.
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 03:55 AM) I don't think Angels wants PK anymore, he would have to take a pretty big cut to play anywhere? Is there market for him? I'm sure there will be a team looking for a relative cheap 1B.
  10. Let PK walk at the end of this season. He's a pretty average player now who's best days are well behind him.
  11. QUOTE (ozzfest @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 01:50 AM) Fact or Fiction: *Beckham hits over 290 on the season *Peavy wins 15 games *Jenks finishes the season as closer *Quentin Hits 30 home runs *Scott Linebrink will be on the roster come august * Freddy Garcia will be the 5th starter come July * KW will make a major trade mid-season (A-Gone type of deal) * White Sox make the playoffs Fiction, Fiction, Fiction, Fact, Fact, Fiction, Fiction, FICTION
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 12:33 AM) I'd call going into the season without a DH, a decent 2nd LHP, and a long-man for the pen, fundamentally flawed. And a shaky 5th starter and an extremely aging bench should be added to the list.
  13. Why do people use terms like "fundamentally flawed"? Why not just say they aren't a strong team? Sometimes you just don't have a roster capable of competing with top teams. After two weeks, it looks like the Twins have a superior roster. A lot is going to have to change to turn that around, but there's still time.
  14. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 10:49 PM) According to Twitter, Ozzie plans on enjoying his day off, "I hope I can enjoy my off day in miami I need one" Any chance a volcano can erupt in Florida making it impossible for Ozzie to fly back to Chicago?
  15. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 10:10 PM) Kotsay is going to break the single season record for groundouts to second base. Only if Pierre gets hurt
  16. SWING THE f***ING BAT! Another awful, heartless performance. Keep up the good work Ozzie, your lineup changes really helped.
  17. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 08:09 PM) Beckham needs to get his butt off the radio and stop doing promotions, and start playing baseball. I feel like he's a great guy who's taking advantage of all the goodies -- and spread awfully thin in the process. Chicago young athletes tend to struggle in their 2nd season in town, so a soph slump isn't out of the question.
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) That's a sign of players trying to do to much when things are going bad. And with young guys like Beckham and Quentin, that's when Walker needs to calm them down.
  19. I wish I could have bet money on Dempster shutting out the Astros today. With his slider and all their righties, there was no chance for Houston to do anything.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) Guys who's numbers I expect to improve significantly: Juan Pierre Gordon Beckham Carlos Quentin Alexei Ramirez Alex Rios (he's hit the ball hard right at so many people it's not even funny) Guys I expect to go downwards Teahen (only because his OBP is insane right now) Jones Guys that eventually are going to disappear from the 3 spot: Mark Kotsay Going into the season, I thought...if Rios and Teahen swing well and Quentin stays healthy, this team wins the Central. All 3 of those have happened so far. Team-slumps to start the season aren't abnormal. You guys called me out on the Yankees not having ARod last year when they were 6.5 back, but you know what? Tex was also hitting under .200. Good stuff balta, but don't you wonder if the Twins are just a superior team to the Sox this season?
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) Why didn't we PH Andruw Jones for Vizquel there? Oh, I forgot, we'd lose the favorable LHB/RHP match-up and actually have to play Nix. Vizquel is a future HOFer. That would be disrespectful!
