  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:22 AM) I'm not saying I'd have done this with Beckham up, but I understand the logic in it and I don't think its a terrible move. Now we have 2 guys up (2 of our 3 best bats) and all it takes is a basehit by one of them and we win. Put it this way...if he didn't have Beckham bunt in the 7th, but did in the 9th, I would have been ok with it. I just don't want to see this be a common theme.
  2. Yep, that's why you don't bunt.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:20 AM) I think almost every manager in baseball would bunt there. It's the bottom of the ninth. We need one run. It may not work but we're one f***ing single from a victory right now. And a good manager would walk Quentin here, effectively taking the bat out of the hands of our 2 best hitters. Milwaukee played this same way a few seasons ago, and Fielder/Braun suffered because of it.
  4. If Cleveland was smart, they'd walk Quentin here.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:19 AM) Why wouldn't Ozzie bunt. He did it last time and in this case we need a run and he'll do it right here. It's not going to work with this team. You're taking the bat out of the hands of our best overall hitter. I'm fine bunting if Pierre's on 2nd with no outs.
  6. Well, I would rather see Beckham batting 9th and Alexei 2nd if we're going to play like this.
  7. Great AB by Pierre...the one thing I've always loved about him is he never strikes out. DON'T BUNT HERE!
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:15 AM) Serioulsy, bring in a guy like Nix who is terrible. Thought C. Perez and his awful splits were warming up, but it's Lewis.
  9. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:14 AM) Perre is the DH hit for him...Nix or Vizquel PH Nix, and if they bring in Perez, then you bring in Kotsay.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:09 AM) Do you pitch to Sizemore or Choo? Choo
  11. QUOTE (SockMe @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:08 AM) BRENT MOREL BRENT MOREL BRENT MOREL! I was very underwhelmed by him during ST. He seems pretty weak at the plate.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:08 AM) Did AJ not see it? What happened? He's usually not terrible. Defensively, he's awful. However, he is just having some strange plays tonight.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:06 AM) Damnit AJ gotta catch that. Absolutely terrible effort by him tonight.
  14. That 92 mph fastball is just sad to watch now.
  15. Awful all around there. There's no rhythm to anything our players do.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 04:01 AM) So, what do we do about Teahen if he sucks all year? Get Herm to get Crede healthy? Dayan? Ugh. Omar Vizquel will get 300 of the most beautiful at bats
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:58 AM) So when Ozzie has speed on the bases with the possibility of getting a guy in scoring position, he doesn't run them... yep, keep running guys with 2 strikes! Nothing like distracting the hitters.
  18. QUOTE (nastymasty21 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:55 AM) id pinch hit nix Agreed, I don't get why we're letting the pitcher bat.
  19. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:50 AM) Paulie is one of the best in the game at picking errant throws out of the dirt. He definitely saves us some runs with that ability. All 1B are good at that it seems now. Gone are the days of Frank Thomas playing 1B.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:49 AM) BTW i'd like to note its a real shame we couldn't get Santos his first win. Two very encouraging things tonight: Santos looked great and Gavin was well ahead of how he looked to start last season.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:47 AM) So you are saying 1st baseman don't really need range, right? In which case, Paulie is pretty good than? I'd say he's better than most but his lack of range keeps him out of the well above average to elite category. No, I was being sarcastic. His range is mediocre given his athletic ability issues. That grounder by Hafner was a play that he needed to try and get his body in front of.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:47 AM) Like what Quentin did? home runs don't count!
  23. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:44 AM) everybody needs to shut up about paulie's D. he's one of the best in the league. Range is a very overrated defensive ability 1st basemen need
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 03:44 AM) I doubt there was anything Quentin could have done. That was a crazy bounce. The ball hit the side of part of the fence and shot to the side. Bigger issue was that after throwing the slider on the outside, they then went with the outside fastball. Thornton's so much better when he throws the high fastball.
