Horrible, horrible approach with RISP. It's sickening how many hitters are having their head come flying out.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:50 AM) Then wtf was the point of all that "Speed"? It's not like we're significantly faster than we were to end last year when Dye was out of the lineup.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:45 AM) Just stopping by to say that our offense is abysmal. I like your posts so far this year!!

Hitters acting like they've never seen a slider. We got 2 gifts that inning, and only get one.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:43 AM) Would his team be winning if the ump wasn't missing calls though? Yeah, ump didn't blow any calls to Brantley or Sizemore.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:41 AM) Lol, not only was that ball 4 to CQ a strike right down the middle, but thats a pitch Quentin should and can hit 450 feet. Well said, along with the first pitch to Beckham.

Wow, that was a blatant strike

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 02:12 AM) No offense, but if you guys are going to b**** about the offense, give it a few days. It is the 3rd game of the season and at this point, offensive production tends to be lower anyway because the pitchers tend to have the advantage early in the major league season. The lineup is weak on paper, struggled by most accounts in Spring Training, and aren't putting good swings on the ball at all. Someone like Rios, I'm actually encouraged with him as he's looking good at the plate. Teahen's swing is so awful, I can't see how he'll ever square the ball up.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:11 AM) What can he do when the umps haven't been calling a ton of his curves for balls. The Indians announcers have been really impressed with Gavin and have been ragging on the umps for not helping him on some of his hooks. Gavin is so f***ing good. BTW, I missed the top of the first, but since then, this ump has had a gigantic strike zone.

Yep, I'm of the opinion he'll be our ace by end of year. And Hawk, that was a terrible pitch that Konerko chased!

QUOTE (icroca @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:10 AM) You think because this is my first day of posting, it's the first White Sox baseball game I've seen? The hitters' approach at the plate is just gross leading me to believe it's the coaching and not some amazing coincidence. No, I'm saying that most of us on here aren't going to turn every bad scoring game into a Fire Walker thread.

QUOTE (icroca @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 01:05 AM) What the f*** does the lineup have to do with a terrible approach at the plate, collectively. Because this is one of the worst lineups in all of baseball, there's only so much you can do with it. Trust me, a lot of us loved to blame Walker in previous years also.

I hate when Gavin has a great curve/slider working, yet he continues to get beat by his fastball.
-
GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+
The most obnoxious thing is Hawk's already making excuses for the bad offense. Rios K'd on a pitch a foot low and a foot off the plate, and he's stating how nasty the pitch was.
-
GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+
Gavin looks significantly sharper than he did to start last season.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 12:59 AM) Not another guy who thinks Walker tells them to take good pitches and only swing at the bad ones. Yep, there should be a filter that every Fire Greg Walker post should automatically be changed to Fire Ozzie Guillen.

Always hate when we send the runner with 2 strikes and 2 outs, as that's got to be distracting.

Someone probably should have shown Ozzie that righties hit almost 100 points worse against Masterson last year.
