QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) this is why no one should be saying anderson or wise should be starting. Yep, they both suck.
-
Good job by Fields to break up the DP. Anderson is absolutely horrific right now.
-
Fields seeing this pitcher nicely. Do something BA!

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:03 AM) I know especially with all the time he has had to work with Clayton. Good point, didn't think of that

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) This is disgusting how the As are outplaying us -- at home no less. We're just not putting up enough offense at home. That .219 batting average coming into the game is one of the craziest stats ever.
-
Wow, Clayton just doesn't have it. I'm already less than impressed with Castro's pitch selection.
-
We're letting all their bums beat us tonight.
-
Alexei seems to be hitting a ton of weak balls to right field these days. It's almost the opposite from how he was the first 30 games.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 12:36 AM) Welcome back to reality, Clayton! you seem way too happy to type this

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) Not trash, but I would have liked him on our team playing CF and leading off. He's better than anything we currently have and better than most on the open market. Agreed, I thought KW was going to go after him by offering up Poreda and others.
-
I have no confidence that the Sox will handle the Contreras situation properly.
-
Great news...Murphy was one of the worst radio personalities ever.
-
Anyone think we might target Oliver from Okl St with our first pick to fill the void of potentially trading Poreda and/or Richard?

I'd be shocked if the 38th pick isn't used on a hard throwing guy. 23 will likely be a position player it would seem. -
Zambrano's stuff has deteriorated a lot over the years, as his fastball seems a good 2-3 mph lower than it used to be. I want nothing to do for him, as the only time I'll root for him is rooting for him to blow out his elbow.

Brian Anderson isn't a good enough player to get this worked up about. It's not like if Ozzie would have platooned Owens with Quentin last year. All Anderson had to do was get one clutch hit in the last week and/or not get sick, and we wouldn't have seen this thread.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) You need to tone it down. You have been pushing the insult line with other posters here, over and over again - cool it. Also, you are waaaaaaay over the top with the Ozzie hatred. You want some evidence that Ozzie is a good manager? Here is a measure for you... Ozzie fairly regularly beats most other managers in Pythagorean results analysis. The measure is used to show how many games their team should theoretically have one, referencing run differential in an equation. Ozzie's teams have a habit, regularly, of beating expectations. Ozzie's had one of his better years so far with in-game managing. He's handled our pitchers perfectly, for the most part.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) So his middle school teachers didn't like him? Is that what you're saying? Ha, it's given me the chance to talk to some of the people associated with the athletic department there. I don't believe he'll go to college though, and he'll sign for above slot money whenever he's picked. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) He's in Birmingham. Ugh, I'm so sick of the David Cook love.
-
The title of this thread is perfect, as not only has Ozzie's handling of the CF position since Rowand left been a debacle, but the career of Brian Anderson has been a debacle also. So much debate has taken place on this board about Anderson, and hopefully we acquire a leadoff CF this offseason.

Huge make-up concerns with him. He went from a top 20 pick to being outside some top 200 lists. My wife works in a feeder school for Neuqua, and he was not well liked even before the final incident. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like the Tigers go after him and pay him well above slot money -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) If Anderson's sick it makes sense. But the real answer to your question is that Wise is the starter and you don't lose your starting job for injury, so Wise is going to remain the starter. And he's not getting DFA'd. Just watch. Watch Whisler be sent down. With Quentin's shaky health, I wouldn't mind have 2 back-up outfielders.
-
QUOTE (almagest @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) If we're going to DFA Wise, why is he playing? We know when Quentin will be back, Pods is already in the lineup so at least we have "speed", and Anderson can at least play good defense in CF. Why even give a player who won't be on your roster in a week at-bats? To give him a chance to keep his spot on the roster. Ozzie said a guy wouldn't lose their starting position due to injury, and he's sticking to that.
-
QUOTE (everafan @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) Man I hope Ozzie doesn't play Betemit tonight. But you're probably right with the lefty going and he said he would rest Thome more this year. Can't wait until Quentin is healthy as he will DH on Thome's nights off. Ozzie said last night Thome will get the game off.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) I picture you walking around the Cell with protest signs that say "Free Wilson Betemit". LOL. Sadly, I had never seen him play defense. Someone in the Sox's scouting really, really f***ed up this deal, as Betemit was supposed to be a corner infielder back-up and can't play either position.
