  1. I stand by my belief that Peavy thinks he'll eventually get traded to the Cubs. I also believe he wouldn't make them guarantee the option as well. Cubbie blue has poisoned him it seems.
  2. Did you see the rumors about Peavy's contract demands? For the Sox sake, I hope it is over.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 22, 2009 -> 03:35 PM) I don't even really want him anymore. It's obvious this guy doesn't want to be a part of this organization, and the only way he will join is if we give in to his ridiculous contract commands. This guy is a tool. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cu...-csep22.article Screw him. Enjoy pitching for a loser team for the next 4 or so years. The "Go Cubs, Go" thing with Peavy never happened. It was made up by a few members of the media.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:57 PM) If it was the fact that he liked to hit, how come he hasn't said that from the beginning? He's just scared of the AL. And last I checked, he was hitless this season.
  5. The Braves called up a pitcher who had an ERA near 1 in AAA this year, and he looked awful yesterday. There just aren't a lot of good hitters in the International League, and that's why it's so hard to judge the performance of pitchers in that league.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 22, 2009 -> 05:54 AM) He's a good hitter, i think he'll be okay when he works his s*** out. The real problem is Lee, A-Ram, Dempster and the bullpen. I wonder what happened to Soto's HGH supplier? What, no more amazing offseason training programs that allows him to lose 20 pounds while hitting the ball 100 feet farther?
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 22, 2009 -> 04:52 AM) My favorite part of that article. What the hell is better aligned with the NL supposed to mean? It's all a bunch of crap. I don't believe for one second Peavy wants to pitch in the AL. He'll make an AL team give him a king's ransom to go there. I wish him nothing but the worst after tomorrow.
  8. There is so much bulls*** coming out of Axelrod's mouth right now. Financial decisions were definitely discussed. Saying that tomorrow, he might change his mind, is pretty lame. I'm sure KW has already moved on. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....agent-says.html
  9. Watching the Padres (BTW, do yourself a favor and check out Heath Bell's performance vs righties this year) and I hope Adrian Gonzalez is ok. He botched a bad-hop grounder, and looked like he damaged his right thumb. Hopefully he's able to play in the Cubs series this wknd.
  10. Hudson also would have cost us a first round pick.
  11. Yadier Molina really does a great job at calling a game. Hell of a series for the Cardinals.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:11 AM) Totally disagree. You have to plan that far out. If some of the younger guys pan out, they will be making some good money. Yep, look at how crippled the Cubs are with their payroll in the coming years cause of all the back-loaded contracts.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:40 AM) Seriously, I don't like wishing ill upon others, but I will laugh if anything bad happens to this douche bag. Like a crippling Carpal Tunnel injury from jerking off to pictures of Wrigley Field?
  14. I still feel like the Sox will select an outfielder with their first pick. Besides Danks, we're really lacking in that position in our farm system.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:20 AM) If it were such a steal, why didn't the White Sox agree to pick up the option? Could you imagine the amount of players we'd have to unload over the next few years if we had that albatross lurking in 2013? Guys like Danks and Quentin would likely be looking at big contracts, and it would be hard to field a winning team with so much tied into one spot.
  16. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:16 AM) so now that this thing is off......and despite what Hahn said...i gotta think Poreda will be in the pen sooner than later replacing gobble...right? The thing is, the Sox have pretty defined roles. In games they're tied or winning after 6 innings, it's going to be Dotel/Thornton/Linebrink/Jenks. In games they're trailing, they just don't really care and will go to the inning eaters. Hell, I'd rather see Carrasco get a shot at starting and see if there's a chance in the world he can contribute there.
  17. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:18 AM) Poreda just k'd 12 in seven. Colon just had an epic fail of a game today. If we're ever going to call up AP i want it as a starter. Hopefully, we can get a lefty for Betemit. What do you mean a lefty for Betemit? Like a LOOGY? Betemit has no trade value right now. You're better off finding a LOOGY on the waiver wire. Hell, Breslow was claimed a few days ago.
  18. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 22, 2009 -> 02:13 AM) the javy deal is alot more acceptable than the swisher deal IMO I've publicly said here that people need to temper their enthusiasm about JorDanks, because he was still a 7th round pick that scouts had serious concerns over where his power went from his HS days, but I gotta admit...I'm starting to get pretty damn excited about this kid. He Ks alot, but he also has shown a great ability to get on base so far....hitting for high average and drawing a nice number of walks....23 in 150 ABs. I think he's got a shot at being a curtis granderson type player Daa, you know you're my boy, but don't worry about Danks draft slot. The MLB draft, as you know, is impossible to judge due to signability issues, etc. The day of the draft, the Danks family let it known that they were going to seek well above 2nd round money (where he was slotted to go). For once, this worked out in our favor.
  19. BTW, I just want to thank everyone for a fantastic day on this board. I might get fired from work cause of lack of productivity, but just wanted to say thanks.
  20. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:05 AM) its somewhat sad that i look forward to checking Barons box scores as much as i do It's a nice positive thing to see after today's happenings.
  21. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 22, 2009 -> 12:59 AM) The Braves trade is an absolute winner. KW deserves a medal for that. Why's that? Javy's doing a great job for the Braves. Gilmore, until recently, was doing horrible. Flowers is having a good, not spectacular season. I think Atlanta has to be pretty happy about that trade so far.
  22. If it makes anyone feel better, Beckham and JorDanks homered already today.
  23. Doesn't Axelrod represent a few Sox players?
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2009 -> 12:14 AM) I still think he will also target certain guys as the players he wants to keep and will be very reluctant to give up those guys. Beckham and Flowers are two guys specifically and Danks might fall in that mode simply due to the family connection and that fact that the older Bro is untouchable. And if we have chips and the ability to take on money, its a major plus. So you start thinking of guys he's targeted in the past. Carl Crawford could be a possibility, even though Tampa has a surplus of pitching prospects.
  25. Did Dan Haren and/or Miguel Cabrera ever sign extensions?
