  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) So we wouldnt pick up that option? What team would? The Cubs new ownership sure as s*** wont, nor do they have the pieces, the Brewers dont have the money, either does Atl. Where the f*** do you think you are going Mr Peavy I honestly believe Peavy believes the Braves or Cubs will trade for him. He will continue to be a coward until he can go to those teams. At least this saves someone from calling him the White Javy.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:40 PM) if its because the sox didnt want to give him that option, that is just embarassing.... No, it really isn't. Would you want possibly 25% of your payroll tied up in one player? Around that time, Danks and Quentin would be getting big change also if their careers go as we hope.
  3. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) This could be the most embarrasing day in white sox history. 20-1 and a superstar laughs at our trade attempt. Yeah, this is not a good day for the organization. However, that 22 million dollar option is just ridiculous. By that time, Peavy's going to have a ton of milleage on that slider throwing elbow.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:37 PM) He is a giant p**** who is scared of pitching outside of San Diego and the NL. If he ends up with the Cubs later this year, I will never root harder to see the initials TJS.
  5. Let's try not to overreact. We still have a lot of payroll flexibility this makes it seem, as well as all of our pitching prospects still.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) Well, I'm dissapointed, I think it would have been great to have that type of ace, but sounds like the Sox went as far as they were comfortable with JPINAA
  7. So can we officially call him Jake p**** now? If not mods, I'll gladly not. Hopefully he no-hits the Cubs this weekend, and then he just sucks the rest of his career.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) Wait, did Fathom just link a here-to-now clean player to steroids? What? Will wonders ever cease? Not necessarily for Peavy...just anyone that you give up valuable resources for, it's better to avoid the PR hit.
  9. A friend just called and said San Diego is reporting he officially blocked the trade. No idea if it's legit.
  10. I also hope that KW has done his research about any player he trades for, and if that player will show up on the list of the 100 or so players that tested positive during 2005.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Just don't throw an inside fastball to Bradley. Peavy faced the Cubs two weeks ago, and Milton hit an absolute bomb off of him. Don't get me wrong though, with everything else I've said aside, it would be exciting as hell to watch Peavy pitch every 5 days. I bet he'd be man enough to throw strikes to the #9 hitter.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:05 PM) Peavy vs Harden would be nice to see. Just don't throw an inside fastball to Bradley. Peavy faced the Cubs two weeks ago, and Milton hit an absolute bomb off of him. Don't get me wrong though, with everything else I've said aside, it would be exciting as hell to watch Peavy pitch every 5 days.
  13. QUOTE (DanksFan @ May 21, 2009 -> 10:02 PM) so peavy = vazquez? Peavy has a similar reputation to that of Javy regarding big games, that is true. Now, he's a better pitcher than Javy (even though Javy in Petco would be a pretty dangerous pitcher).
  14. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) hard to do much in big games when your team sucks and you dont have many of them.. Quite a few playoff games and a terrible performance in Colorado for the tiebreaker in 2007.
  15. Honestly, this is just ignorant thinking. There's 162 games in the season, and every team has a game like this. This is not like an official visit in college basketball or football. I'd be willing to guess that Peavy has no idea what the final score of the game was.
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) Not exactly putting on a convincing advertisement for the team today. Come on people, this is baseball. One game doesn't make a freaking difference. Hell, KW can say that if Nick Blackburn can go 7-0 at the Cell, then so can you. This isn't like a college basketball/football game where someone's on their official visit.
  17. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 21, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) I HIGHLY doubt Peavy accepts a trade to us. Neither does most Padres fans. If we pick up that option, he'll accept it.
  18. Too bad Lillibridge isn't around to pitch. Knowing our luck, Anderson will be asked to pitch, and re-injure himself
  19. QUOTE (shipps @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:22 PM) fathom would have a myocardial infarction Are you kidding? I want him long gone. He can't play defense. Someone scouted him completely wrong, and he really should just be a PH in the NL.
  20. Damn, Tigers just got a DP from Michael Young with tying run on 3rd base.
  21. QUOTE (Frankensteiner @ May 21, 2009 -> 07:13 PM) 3 reliable starters is more than any other team in this division, imo. Also, our softball offense is going to hit once we get into June. I can't believe Edwin Jackson ended up being so good so far. A lot of us missed that one.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) Dear, Chris Getz. Stop pretending you’re a power hitter. Sincerely, White Sox fans. Dear, White Sox Organization. Stop encouraging him to think this way. Nonsense...the Sox sound like they're desperately trying to get Getz to hit the ball on the ground. Hell, even Hawk gets pissed when Getz flies out to the warning track.
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:07 PM) So Stark is saying that the Sox are either going to go from one extreme to another?? Get Peavy and everyone stays or dont get Peavy and eveyone goes?WTF Why can't you sell off players while trying to reload for the following season at the same time? I'd have absolutely no problem with this. Let's be honest...getting Peavy this year means nothing unless Gavin and Contreras can do something to contribute. 3 reliable starters won't get the job done unless you have a strong offense.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 08:01 PM) From someone who is a negotiator for a living, if we are getting into the fine points of a contract then we are steps away from a deal. Both sides wouldnt be asking for things unless an agreement was in there somewhere. This is something I completely agree with you. I think we'll have an answer by 8 PM tonight.
  25. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) LOL, you dont think the Sox could come back from a 6 game deficit with not even 1/4 of the season over? Hilarious. Why DO you watch the White Sox? I think Tigers are the superior team this year, as their rotation has really matured and their offense is a lot more consistent. I would love to have Peavy for the next few years, but then there's the question about reloading our offense with young guys (Beckham, Allen, etc.). I don't even look at the standings until June though, to be totally honest. I couldn't tell you how many games in front or behind we are compared to Twins, KC, etc.
