  1. Seriously, the Padres could be interested in Lillibridge as a final piece of the package (to go along with a big time PTBNL).
  2. QUOTE (Sockin @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) ESPN reporting Peavy called Linebrink to ask him what it's like in Chicago, Peavy said he received strong feedback. That's good to hear. Linebrink is very conservative, and if he can stand Ozzie, then Peavy should be able to also. I think it's funny that Peavy would have even considered Ozzie to be difficult to play with, as he's nothing but great with veterans.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) I hate to say it since he is supposed to be such a great guy, but D Lee looks about 20-30 lbs lighter than a few seasons ago. He is downright skinny. And thankfully, the Cubs keep playing him instead of Hoffpauir.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) I just really want to see who the PTBL are. Please tell me Gordon is not one of them, that would just suck. Yep, the whole PTBNL scares me. If you think about it, the Padres desperately need a middle infielder. I wouldn't lose a second of sleep if it's JorDanks in the trade, and really wouldn't mind selling high on Flowers.
  5. The more I think about it, the less I want this trade to happen. Peavy's contract is huge, and that will really damper our ability to upgrade the offense. If we do decide to go young, it will be 3-4 years before those players come into their own, and by that time, Peavy and Buehrle will have their deals expire.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:13 AM) If that's true, that doesn't say mucha bout Fields. You earn your way onto the field. When you get the opportunity you make the most of it. If Fields is that fragile, f*** him. He can rot in the minors some more. You mean Fields, the same person that said he considered retiring after his rookie year?
  7. Haven't seen Alexei use that sliding play at SS this year. It's fascinating to watch Jenks pitch, as he's throwing some sick sinkers on the mound and very few 4 seamers.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:56 AM) If Slayer is anyway involved I will not like this. I'm high on Flowers too (though that could be interesting as far as the deep draft in catchers) but for that "PTBNL" that scares me. I'd be fine if Flowers is the PTBNL, but no way in hell you trade Beckham. In all honesty, I would love it, as it should give you 4 starters guaranteed for the next few season. Poreda is much more valuable to the Sox as a trade chip than as an actual pitcher.
  9. Crazy stat of the day: Verlander hit 19 batters last year, and not one of them scored.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:07 AM) 5 IP, 4 k's, 2 BB, 0 runs against the Cubs tonight for Carpenter. Still hasn't given up a run this year, which is crazy, as his stuff doesn't look that good.
  11. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:02 AM) Bigger fluke season: 2008 Gavin Floyd or 2007 Fausto Carmona? Gavin, as Carmona was a sinker baller at least.
  12. With Quentin hopefully returning to the lineup in the next few days, Anderson needs to get it going are else we'll see a lot of Pods in CF.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:37 AM) By the way, are you still in favor of starting Betemit at 3B against Blackburn tomorrow? Yes...I'm all in favor of a platoon right now.
  14. Crappy time for my computer to go bonkers. Dye's homer was the definition of a towering line drive. Nice call about the crooked number Jason.
  15. Pods chokes...he really is bad at driving in runners.
  16. Way to contribute Fields!! I still have faith in him against LHP. Alexei, on the other hand...what drugs are you on?
  17. Hell of a swing by Konerko there to tie it. Anderson has got to stop trying to pull everything.
  18. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 21, 2009 -> 02:16 AM) Alexei honeymoon officially over , wow Beckham looking more and more like a SS here. Beckham's not exactly tearing up AA right now. It really is astonishing how bad our infield, outside of Konerko, has been this season.
  19. Alexei accounts for two runs for Twins. That's probably more than he's contributed to our offense all year. BTW, that pitch selection to Kubel was pathetic. Inside fastball to a lefty who had no chance on that slider away.
  20. Terrible Sox defense continues. Dye had an easy chance to get Morneau at home, but made a terrible throw. Our pitchers continue to be awful at pitching over a defensive miscue.
  21. Alexei boots an extremely easy double play ball. This team has botched more double play balls than any team I can remember.
  22. Outside of Pods, not a lot of good swings tonight. Liriano's basically a junk pitcher now.
  23. Fields better do something today, as it's very possible this will be the last game he starts for the Sox for a while. He was too eager that AB, as he got good pitches to hit and nearly hit them into the Sox dugout.
