  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) You are right, and it's sad. It's sad that i've reached the acceptance stage of 2009 being a failure this early. It's sad our major league roster is so bereft of talent (although I see a lot of hope and promise in our minor league system), it's sad nobody is held accountable, and it's sad our team is going to probably finish in 4th place in front of an empty ballpark this year. I'm not a fan of booing the home team, but if people boo tomorrow, I can't blame them. I'll be completely honest (and opening myself up for ridicule), but I'm about two weeks away from going into full anti-Cubs mode and hope the young guys play well for the White Sox. This has been just a dreadful baseball season since Game 2, and it's shockingly getting worse as the days go by.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) And he's hitting something atrocious as his numbers are shooting way back down. I agree with you ont his Dick, however, I also agree something needs to be done as the management did a f***ing horrendous job and right now I see lifeless play and that is un-f***ing-acceptable. What exactly is Ozzie doing to help this team this season? He's lost so much fire, as he seems almost scared to challenge a call on the field. I know he's not going to be fired, but he can't keep sitting back with the attitude of "I'll be here longer than any of the players will, so it's their job to change". Like I mentioned before, way too much job security for members of the organization.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:33 PM) We've been out scouted for years. Steve Stone could probably provide more insight on how to attack opposing hitters as well. Absolutely...our defensive positioning has also been real poor. I've noticed that Alexei seems to shade everyone up the middle, and then you have our lefty pitchers throwing change-ups to righties and there's easy singles for the opposition into the hole. The worst thing is that's probably 10th on the list of scouting failures.
  4. Make someone accountable!! No one loses their job, no one loses their starting spot (for more than 2 games). I've never seen a team that is so scared to shake things up. Maybe it's because the coaching staff is too close or the veterans are too scared to make a recommendation. I am interested in seeing the boo-fest tomorrow at the Cell.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) We still haven't won a game in Torotno since 2007. It's crazy, as we swept the s*** out of them in 2005 there.
  6. Time for some changes. Isn't it great that we kept Anderson in the minors for a few pointless games? Were we trying to save money on his flight to Toronto?
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) WTF did he do there that would make you say that? I would have to disagree and say he is very underrated. What does he do that's above average now?
  8. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) dotel and aj are f***ing worthless AJ's definitely one of the most overrated players in baseball. Pods in CF might have cost us two runs today. This team will never learn, I guess.
  9. It would be nice if our pitchers stopped walking the f***ING #9 HITTER!
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:58 PM) Ozzie relies on his coaches ie: Cooper and Walker to be the first line in those decisions, so yes. Ozzie obviously ultimately can make any call at any time, but he delegates those decisions to his coaches for the most part. Sorry if that looked like "bashing" to you, its just reality. Just more proof that Walker has done nothing to earn a cent this season.
  11. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) i think the reason why Wilson isnt starting is due to defense. When you are only scoring 2-3 runs per game, if lucky, you can't afford to give up another 1-2 in the field at the same time. But in that PH spot, it's the perfect chance to use his bat.
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:55 PM) Walker owns that call. If that's the case, I can't believe he didn't deliver after that amazing BP session a few days ago. Has BP replaced the Arizona Fall League as the ultimate decision maker for the Sox organization?
  13. Hell of a start by Clayton. Good job, easily the bright spot of this forgettable series.
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) Betemit doesn't have any better chance than Fields. Couldn't disagree more when facing a RHP. Hell, Betemit's one of our 5 best hitters against RHP, it's just he'll never get a chance. Doubles hitters are bad, I know.
  15. Well, Ozzie's officially not trying to win games anymore. There's no excuse in the world to not bring Betemit in to hit for Fields. It's amazing how well he's handled our pitchers this year, and how comically bad he's been with offensive strategy.
  16. Really should PH Betemit for Fields here if you want to win.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) my rationale is that the offense isn't going to "snap" out of it and start averaging six runs per game. it's going to take time. until then, the pitching has to keep it a low scoring game so we can win a few 3-2, 4-3 type games, get the winning vibe going again. If they're buried early by 4 or 5 runs, it's over. I don't think we have the confidence to win a low scoring game right now. Even Joey Cora and Josh Fields confirmed that on Saturday.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:42 PM) AJ has been the complete opposite of a disciplined hitter in his career
  19. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:37 PM) quality pitching is the only way out of this funk How so? We're getting quality pitching today (and did Saturday), and we still couldn't win (assuming we lose today). It's real simple: this offense is on its way to have an underachieving performance of epic proprotions.
  20. Here's the biggest issue: there's no f***ing accountability for this. No one loses their job, either players or coaches. If you do bad, you get the ultimate punishment of sitting TWO GAMES. If we lose this game, there better be a huge shake-up with the roster. Send someone down and make them an example, as it's obvious the coaching staff has immunity for life.
  21. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:33 PM) My excuse for him, I'd like to see him get consistent at-bats at a position he has played before. I'll keep up the excuses. You think the fact he cost his team a run and mostly likely the game is wearing on him now? No, I like Nix. It's just crazy how much better his ABs seem to be than the others, and on almost every other team in baseball, he'd be the weak link.
  22. It's amazing how we can't hit a homer in an important spot basically all year since Game 1.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 18, 2009 -> 06:29 PM) He might, but why have your entire bullpen filled with question marks? Trading a guy like Thornton who doesn't make a ton of money, for prospects unless they are sure fire top of the line guys makes no sense. Financial relief and the ability to redistribute funds with the others make sense, but hoping a prospect or 2 pans out to be just as good as the guy you traded is Elton Brand for Tyson Chandler. It really doesn't make sense. Yep, and if you put him as closer and succeeds, then you either give him an extension or you can get a hell of a lot more value for him if you deal him.
  24. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ May 18, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) You don't think a rebuild would see Link get a shot? Ugh, I'm not that high on him. Probably want to try him as a set-up man before anything else.
