  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:25 AM) Ward/Kroeger? Or just arguing for keeping both Anderson AND Wise on the team? Keep both
  2. So Dusty pitched to Pujols with bases loaded, 1 out in a 3-0 game. I absolutely would have IBB Pujols.
  3. Albert Pujols is pretty good
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:21 AM) Seriously, if the rotation can stay in this groove, there's no reason to keep the extra LHP in the bullpen if Quentin comes back. Hold Wise and Anderson and send down Gobble; gives you an OF bat/PH/PR from both sides of the plate. There's no reason to have Gobble on the team, end of story. We have needed an extra bat on the bench a lot longer than we've needed another arm in the pen.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) Does Beckham really have such a strong arm? All the scouting reports said "average or slightly above average" for SS when he was drafted. I haven't seen him play at all since ST (here in Thailand now), so how could you compare his throwing ability to Valentin/Uribe/Crede/Ramirez? Maybe he's try to get a little extra on his throws from over there and he's changing his natural throwing motion a bit??? His arm seems very good over there.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) I think we are seeing the book develop on Nix. Keep the ball away from him, as his power seems to be when he turns and burns. And that's why he's perfect as a platoon against LHP. The only pitch that can be effective against him from a LHP would be a low and away changeup.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) With a really good arm, playing 3b instead of SS makes your throw longer, wouldn't that make it much more likely that a throw is going to sail on you? It's pretty close. The main thing at 3rd you have to learn is that you have a lot more time on a routine play than you do at SS.
  8. Was UGa's first baseman 7 foot tall? I love Beckham like he's my second wife, but he has got to get those throws down.
  9. Stupid...you have to know you're going to be safe.
  10. DWise with the RBI single!
  11. Wow Beckham, that was a sexy double.
  12. I'm shocked they're not walking AJP here.
  13. Hell of a swing by PK. He's been going to right with great effectiveness this week.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:41 AM) DJ says Alexei's feeling ok, probably ready to come off the bench, no big problems. That's good, because Nix looks so much better against LHP as compared to RHP.
  15. We're all over Greinke's fastball so far.
  16. Beckham had a great hit and run effort there....problem is no one was on first.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:20 AM) Gonna be important to make him work tonight. Looks like your boy Egbert got hurt tonight.
  18. This umpire has a GIGANTIC strike zone. Greinke should be able to dominate if he's getting such a generous call not only up in the zone, but on the corners.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) That was a s***ty pass at a hit and run by Nix, Pods was dead to rights. I don't think it was a hit and run. Nix tried to distract Olivo.
  20. Jeez, we can't be giving away outs against Greinke. Pods just needs to stay on the bases when he gets on and set the table for the big boys.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 11:04 PM) I've been as big a proponent of "the Sox should stop screwing around with Anderson and let him get extended playing time so we can see what he is once and for all." He's gotten more playing time than he ever has so far (although Ozzie is still doing more matchup crap with BA than I'd like) but he's hitting .234. If he was hitting .270 or higher, the job would be his. The biggest issue I have with Anderson is his terrible approach with RISP. With his defense, I'd be ok with .235 batting average if he would deliver with some RBIs once in a while.
  22. BTW, can someone explain to me why the Brewers intentionally walked Bradley with 2 out and a runner on 3rd? Do they not know that Bradley absolutely can't hit RHP this season?
  23. Just saw a replay of the final pitch. It's pretty telling when the batter isn't even trying to sell it as a walk. If that happened to a Cubs pitcher, someone on the Cubs would have punched the umpire and been suspended 1 game max.
  24. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Cubs win on a horrible call by the ump. 3-2 to Fox with bases loaded, the Brewers pitcher lays right down the heart of the plate, belt high and it's called a ball. Possibly 1.5 back after tonight with Ramirez back next week. Our best bet is the Cardinals, as Milwaukee might have the worst starting rotation in the majors.
