  1. QUOTE (Brian @ May 16, 2009 -> 12:58 AM) I used to be eager everyday to watch the Sox, but this season, it's just not there. We're not very fun to watch at all in my opinion. It's been that way basically since game 2 of this season.
  2. Ha...Konerko with just pathetic reaction time on that. About to be 3-0.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 15, 2009 -> 10:11 PM) I'd love to see a candid interview with Oz on what exactly a pitching coach does and how much he used on in his career. Ozzie was a free swinger who I would think used a hitting coach to toss him pitches for extra hitting and that's it. Why do people think players listen to hitting coaches?? You think Ortiz is listening to a hitting coach despite the fact he's yet to hit a home run this year?? Why do people put so much emphasis on hitting coaches?? It's a tired cliche to blame the hitting coach or the pitching coach. I would think if any hitting coach deserves credit or blame it's the one who gets these guys when they are right out of high school/college in rookie ball. Who cares what Ozzie did, he was not a good hitter. Maybe it's not Greg Walker's fault...but he sure isn't doing anything that's working. Maybe they just need another point of view.
  4. QUOTE (tommy @ May 16, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) Dye flies out RF. When is the last time we scored ? Corky Miller's single....this is awful, another terribly boring game.
  5. Cy Cecil...interesting that Hawk is b****ing about how we struggle against lefties we've never faced.
  6. It will be interesting to see if Walker is with the Sox after this series. I have a feeling he'll be the fall guy. This team is just awful. I've never seen a team get fewer hits during the first few innings of a game than this team has. They definitely don't come out as intense and focused as they should.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2009 -> 09:44 PM) I think our best possible infield (defensively) would be Ramirez at SS, Nix at 2B and Beckham at 3B. Beckham at 3rd base would really negate his offensive numbers from a position standpoint. The best possible way for the Sox to have a strong team up the middle is with Alexei in CF and Beckham at SS. Nix should not be in our 3 year plan though.
  8. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 15, 2009 -> 09:01 PM) It's the wise move to let Ramirez develop at SS. He's the best defender we have at SS, and his future is there. He's still a project and still needs to develop. We're not going to throw all of the upside he potentially brings because of a rough start to the season offensively. I'll be very disappointed if Beckham's not our starting SS within the next 2 years. I would hate for him to be moved to 3rd base, as that would mean Fields and Viciedo (defensively for Dayan) were busts.
  9. Ugh, I hate benching Fields against a LHP. If he's going to come out of his slump, it will be with a lefty on the mound. I can't belive we didn't bring back Anderson just cause the 2nd game got rained out.
  10. The Lillicurse strikes again. Did Anderson get recalled yet?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 15, 2009 -> 04:20 AM) We haven't done a ton of rookies in what, 10-15 years? The Sox are always plugging a new cheap guy into the line up to try to save some payroll. With the hype surrounding this minor league system right now, do you really think Kenny Williams is going to go out and spend money on anything but pitching? I just can't see it. I'd be surprised if KW didn't go out and spend money on a leadoff hitter this offseason.
  12. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ May 15, 2009 -> 04:07 AM) I hate the Angels for swooping Torii Hunter from beneath our wings everytime I see him on Sports Center being sick in Center. I love the Angels for swooping in and getting Hunter and saving us 18 million dollars, which could easily be 25% of our payroll next year.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 14, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) Yeah, it's hard to gauge if the Cubs are getting in a groove or if this Pads team is really that bad, Cubs just came off losing 2 out of 3 to the Crew in Milwaukee. With their injuries and their shaky bullpen, I don't see them running away with this division It's all about pitching, and I'm pretty sure the Cubs have the most quality starts in baseball this season.
  14. This Padres team is freaking awful. Poor Adrian Gonzalez. The Cubs are drawing a ton of walks it seems lately.
  15. Sorry, Ozzie gets no credit for this. My grandma could tell Lillibridge sucks. Ozzie keeps putting him into the lineup instead of trying to get creative. Would putting Alexei in CF for a week for the sake of the team hurt his development at SS? Hell no, if anything, it could give you more options down the road.
  16. Great, here comes how clutch he is, forgetting the fact he was 1-6 during the game before that play. It's not going to make KW look very good to the non-smart Sox fan though, especially with Fields being awful lately.
  17. Lilly vs Chris Young when wind is blowing out tonight. Should be about 10 homers hit. Also, no one seems to notice how bad the Cardinals are playing these days. Haha, Soriano and Theriot go back-to-back. Wrigley's a freaking joke.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) You mean the same guy that pitched very good for us in the big games in September? Are you forgetting that? From what I recall, he bombed at Minnesota and against Cleveland in the final series, but he pitched well in the make-up game against the Tigers. His postseason start was horrid.
  19. PLEASE DON'T LET THE LILLICURSE STRIKE
  20. Really disagree with benching Thome, unless he's injured from running the bases last night. It should be fun watching Fields and Lillibridge attempt to hit Cliff Lee's high fastball. Throw a no-hitter Buehrle.
  21. I haven't seen many Rockets games this year, but since when did Brian Cook becoming a defensive lineman? Holy cow, he looks so heavy. I'm thrilled he's still cashing a big paycheck though, as he's a great kid.
  22. Nice to see that Hochevar bombed tonight.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 13, 2009 -> 03:57 AM) Milton Bradley has started hitting. IF he does so consistently, i only see the Cubs looking behind them in the division for the rest of the year. Sadly for them, the Dodgers are the better team. The Cubs are 1.5 games out and have hit as bad as possible. I also am not sold on the Dodgers, as their starting pitching besides Billingsley stinks.
  24. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 13, 2009 -> 02:31 AM) Brian Anderson Ah yes, I agree. With a better loading mechanism, both of them could easily hit 25-30 homers. They just don't get the barrel on the ball enough.
