  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) He can't just be slumping in May? With that massive hole he has on the inner half of the plate, he just might not be ready for this level. It's scary how similar he is to Ryan Sweeney, with regards to lack of ability to do anything with an inside pitch. Maybe our expectations were just too high for him? It's not like he's been a can't-miss prospect for the last few years. Up until hitting for a little power last year, he was always thought of as a utility player in the majors.
  2. It's interesting to hear Hawk complain for the 2nd straight game about how awful we are against pitchers we've never faced before.
  3. Getz is looking like just another Sox prospect who's not ready to contribute at the MLB level when they get promoted. Hopefully that changes with the new crop of Sox prospects.
  4. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ May 16, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) So can someone PLEASE explain to me why Lillibridge is still on this team? What does he bring to this team? Why do we accept failure and under performing? FEAR THE LILLICURSE
  5. Colon's velocity seems way down so far. 85-87 mph range.
  6. Sox caught a break....he was safe, as Getz was slow getting the tag down.
  7. The end of the world is near....Pods with a great throw to get Bautista out at 2nd.
  8. Scutaro should get a ball behind him next AB.
  9. Just terrible fundamentals. That might be what happens when you have a 1st base coach who's mute.
  10. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 16, 2009 -> 05:15 PM) Interesting little off note. Hawk started talking about how Alexei put on a show in the outfield during batting practice. Then he and Stoney started to talk about how he catches everything in the air. So it has begun. I think it's funny we hear about this on the day Ozzie's not with the team.
  11. The Lillicurse strikes again. Quentin pulled, Lillibridge in CF. Thanks guys for not calling up Anderson.
  12. That was a beautiful jump by Pods...good job Scotty. With that said, Dye continues to chase anything and everything with a full count.
  13. I can't link because the computer I'm on sucks, but Chicagosports.com is implying that Anderson won't be activated until this series is over. Nothing like waiting 4 games...I wonder if Lillicurse sneaks into the lineup again.
  14. It's a shame so many people stopped watching Prison Break, as tonight's series finale was the best finale I've ever seen. I liked the Scrubs finale, but this one was a million times more memorable.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 16, 2009 -> 02:05 AM) Rongey said on the postgame show that Walker's basic premise was that the mechanical changes in the hitters happened during the offseason and that it was VERY VERY difficult to make any adjustments with the hitters during the course of the season. He cited the examples of Thome and Konerko last year...that Walker knew what was wrong with their swings, hands, balance, stride, etc., but that it was a yearlong battle to get them out of bad mechanics. It's time for a change! I don't care if Walker is the greatest hitting coach in the world....he's not working well with our current group of players. He's been around most of these guys for so long. However, if they're going to bring in Gary Ward, then it won't matter. It's all about getting a different point of view for these players.
  16. QUOTE (JustWin @ May 16, 2009 -> 01:14 AM) Quentin is 0-4. I didn't expect him to keep up the pace as last year, but damn, this is bad. His avg is falling fast. It's hard to hit when you try to pull everything! Not only that, the league knows that if they throw something a little off the plate and/or offspeed, you can get an easy out on the first pitch.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 16, 2009 -> 02:13 AM) Brian 3-3 Pull him, and get him on a fly to Toronto immediately.
  18. I heard a stat today that on the season, we have 2 extra base hits from our center fielders. That has to be close to a record. Keep up the good work KW!
  19. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 16, 2009 -> 01:57 AM) Still hard to believe this team is still only 3 games out (when this game is over probably and Clev. wins) of first place. God the AL Central sucks. Twins are playing some real good baseball. Who would have thought that getting a future HOF back into the lineup would help them win?
  20. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 16, 2009 -> 12:46 AM) Went to do something else when it was 3-0, now it's 8-1. What happened to Danks? Not only does our hitting suck, but our pitching sucks too. WTF. Wasn't fooling anyone. Toronto's 4th inning was one of the most impressive offensive innings I've seen.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 16, 2009 -> 01:38 AM) Remember, Strausburg wasn't even Strausburg at this time last year. First round pick, top 5 pick, yes, but this freaking good, no. You sure? He was all-world with regards to hype. He did make the Olympic team (not that I have to tell you). I wish I would have watched that game if it was on.
  22. Nice to see a little offense. Brian Anderson is 2-2 in the 2nd game of a DH today. Still no Beckham, but Danks with a single and SB to start the game. I'm really beginning to get high hopes for Danks.
  23. Getz is the fastest Sox player down the line in a very long time. I think I'd rather see that grounder he just had that resulted in an out than a bloop single to right.
