  1. Seems like a real tough match-up for the Sox today. It's too bad we didn't face Porcello, who is a great match-up for our hitters.
  2. Would you be shocked to know Javy Vazquez pitched around Gload last night to load the bases for the superior Dan Uggla, and Uggla had a 2 out 2 RBI single?
  3. Just to back up what I was saying, Galarraga held righties to an astounding .174 batting average last year, while lefties hit .267.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) You really want to sit Betemit or Konerko the way they're hitting? I'd have no problem giving Betemit the start at 3B today. We're going to need offense with Contreras on the mound today, that's pretty much guaranteed.
  5. Not a fan of this righty dominant lineup, as Galarraga is one of the toughest pitchers in all of baseball against righties. This would have been a good game to get Betemit in the lineup, but I guess he's going to only start against LHP (yuck).
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 03:44 AM) Awful managing by Gaston. /beats fathom to manager rip Didn't see it...what did Gaston do? That Clutch Crede strikes again. What's that, one hit in 6 clutch situations?
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 02:26 AM) Will they skip Jose for Colon? Nope, Contreras goes tomorrow. Tough game, as Galarraga looked great last time out.
  8. And Chris Carpenter got hurt. That didn't last long.
  9. The last paragraph by Ozzie is just begging for Kalapse to prove incorrect.
  10. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) He's on the Yankees. He's probably back on steroids. I like it...that can't be our defense mechanism this year to justify the trade.
  11. Swisher is destroying the ball.
  12. 3 of their first 7 batters have homered tonight.
  13. So who will be DePaul's new coach?
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:30 PM) I have and I'll stick to that. If we were talking about LF it'd be a different story, but we're talking about cf and I'd rather have Wise or Owens at this point, true story. I would rather have Wise in CF than Pods both offensively and defensively.
  15. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:18 PM) Jesus H. Christ on a popsicle stick... Are you serious? Why... Hell, I guess if nothing else, my avatar and Tag title are now meaningful again! You and I tried, but it's like an awful mother-in-law....it's always lurking
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) I'm going to disagree that Pods is an upgrade over Owens and Wise just for the fact that Pods in CF might be the scariest thing in the world. This move worries me as I think he's going to take some playing time away from Anderson and having Pods out in center at all is just a disaster waiting to happen. I think the scarier thing is Ozzie's trust level in Pods, and the potential for him to get way too much playing time. With that said, I'm excited, as it will be entertaining as hell on here with Pods playing.
  17. Yep, this is a blessing in disguise, as you don't want to overwork the bullpen with all the consecutive games.
  18. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 06:02 PM) I dont think anyone really fully knocked down the Crede vs. Dye explanation I gave. No one really took apart what went on with Wise vs. Getz and their receptions. Someone tried but I dont know if it was enough to convince me. It's easy...Dye was a FA signee, and Crede was an organizational guy we waited years to have come up and then he contributed for a good number of seasons. Wasn't he the first organizational starter we really developed in quite a while when he came up?
  19. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 05:58 PM) When was that post? I think I missed it. Also, I was only basing my theory on two cases: BA/Wise and Crede/Dye. I feel those two cases are more relevant to the original question posed my Caulfield than bringing up other people from the history of the White Sox organization. Although, the Bevington/Guillen point is very valid. I promise you this...if Konerko struggles this year and Brandon Allen destroys the minor leagues, fans will be clamoring for Allen and wanting Konerko shipped out of town.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 04:54 PM) Was this necessary? Yeah, didn't think it was a big deal. It's like at a wrestling event where a certain part of the crowd worships Matt Hardy.
  21. I'm about as passionate as it comes when talking about Sox players and criticizing them. Not one time have I thought "well, Billy Koch is white, so we shouldn't despise him".
  22. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) The way people treated Uribe comes to mind. Uribe's defense in the infield is as good as Anderson's defense in the outfield. And both has similarily-frustrating at-bat performances. Uribe got paid 5 million dollars to be a bench player last year, and fans never turned on him. Uribe's a poor example.
  23. The Red Sox, Astros, Rockies and Cubs message boards should be having this talk....not the White Sox.
  24. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 14, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Certain players will just never go away. Yet Willie Harris makes so much more sense!!
