QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 12:13 AM) I've noticed it all year, which is why I laugh every time Hawk talks up what a great situational hitter he is. I also love when Hawk says there's no one else he'd rather have up with a RISP and 2 outs. OC was under .150 for half of this season, and is still around .200 in those situations.

Two rockets to continue the great swings from last night.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 12:12 AM) For a "fundamentally sound" hitter OC sure sucks at fundamentals. You're just noticing that now? It started on opening day, and hasn't stopped.
-
Good thing we put OC in the #2 spot so we can have him hit behind the runner, etc.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 12:10 AM) Right now, Ozzie is failing as a manager. His #1 job, like any manager, is putting his team in the best position to succeed. Griffey in CF is not the best position this team could be in, plain and simple. I'm obviously at the top of the Ozzie hater list on this site, but just wanted to make this observation: I've never heard him be ridiculed by the media more than he has been in the last 24 hours.
-
I hated him since he ripped on Jenks for celebrating after he K'd Bagwell in Game 1 of the WS.

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) I think that plays into the fact that he wasn't ready for MLB, many insiders are quick to point out that Job got his injury because he was rushed by the Yanks and his mechanics are not there. But since everyone seems to have a boner over him over here much like Baseball Tonight... we'll go with several other examples. A 0.39 ERA during their rookie season = boneriffic
-
Supposedly Ozzie told the press today that Griffey has been playing good defense lately, so he will stay out there.
-
QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:19 PM) and this year?? Bottom line, he wasn't ready. Ready for what? He was having a good year this season prior to getting injured. There's many examples you can use, but Joba isn't one of them.
-
Sweet, we keep Dye in the 3rd spot and have our worst possible defense out there in the outfield.

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 09:05 PM) ? What was so wrong with what the Yankees did with him?

It's a very difficult decision for Obama. I assume the Republicans will claim that he cares more about becoming president than actually helping out the citizens of the United States.

QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) Why the hell did Aaron Poreda not get called up at the beginning of September? Was that the manager's call or the GM's call? Was it a mutual decision between Poreda and the management? In my view, he would be more effective than Horacio Ramirez, Clayton Richard, and Boone Logan. And surely he would be no less effective than anyone else in the pen, except Jenks and maybe Thornton? Does it matter? It's not like September call-ups ever play an important role down the stretch.

Obama has to suspend his campaign now as well, because if he doesn't, then McCain will just say that Obama doesn't care about the economy. Hell, in their response to the SNL incest skit, McCain's people said that it was funny, and that it was funny that Obama hadn't done anything about the financial crisis either.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:21 PM) ok, you caught me red handed. Will you address any other points or just stick with that one? Sure, if this team actually thought they could compete with Jerry Owens as their leadoff hitter, then shame on them.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) Quentin. He had a long history of OBP awesomeness in the minor leagues and even a dummy like me predicted he's finish with a very high OBP this year. No, that wasn't who he was talking about, as he said the two OBP guys that were acquired both were disappointing this season. I thought he meant OC, and I pointed out this his OBP was mediocre in his career.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 07:02 PM) They thought they had one in J.O. Swisher plays RF/LF while we get rid of one of PK/JD/Thome then. He made a run at Hunter, Rowand, Fukindome, etc. What more did you want him to do? And you cannot respond with "well we should have just traded a couple guys for X leadoff hitter" because nobody here knows a single damn thing that happens in the front office. But in the end, this is a team that has been in 1st place for a good majority of the season. Despite injuries to key players, they have hung in there. So despite whatever emotional outburst people have after each loss, you're still b****ing about a 1st place team. You said we brought in 2 OBP guys this offseason. Who's the other guy besides Swisher?

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 04:28 PM) Of course it matters. Are you trying to say that facts don't matter... it's only opinions that matter? If someone says he's a big game choker then they should be able to point out the big games... unless they're just venting which I can understand because last night was ugly. So... what are the BIG games? I'll let someone else handle this argument (as there's been so many made in this thread), as I'm so tired of focusing on Javy when the offense deserves more of the blame for recent struggles.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) How many mitchell report guys has KW went for? Brian Roberts was heavily pursued, was he not?
-
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) Glaus has one year left, not sure how much. Well, might as well start to pencil him into our lineup. 2b- Figgins SS- Ramirez lf- Quentin rf- Dye DH- Thome 1b- Konerko 3b- Glaus cf- Swisher c- AJP We will hit 250 homers

I think the Rays will have a great pen come the playoffs, as they will mostly pitch only Balfour and Howell. Percival won't be used in close situations. They also have the wildcard in David Price. I will say that if CQ and Linebrink were 100 pct healthy, then the Sox would have as good of a chance as anyone. We just have too many players who have hit the wall (AJ and Dye).

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 05:07 PM) Please help me understand something about the "big game" theory. This is the link to his 2008 season game log with all of his pitching performances. Which ones other than last night are the "big" games? Does it matter now? After Ozzie's comments and Javy's bed-crapping performance, this label will stick with him for the rest of his career.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) I wasn't nervous yesterday, I was excited. Today, I am very nervous. Does anyone else have a weird quesynous (sp?) in their stomach? I know it's not healthy to be this invested in a team, but I can't help it. If they lose tomorrow, I fear what kind of things I will feel. Just win MB and Paulie better come to play cause we need him. Yesterday, I was worried the Twins were going to come out and dominate us with their speed, pitching, and energy. Today, I guess I'm trying the defense mechanism that this Sox team just can't win at Minnesota and very possibly won't make the playoffs. More than anything, I'm looking forward to Hawk's complete meltdown tomorrow night.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) Hell yeah, Javy for Rasmus! I don't know what his contract is, but Javy for Troy Glaus would definitely be a KW move.
