  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:06 AM) If Griffey is actually "suspected" of anything, (can't believe I'm actually seeing this stuff posted with my own eyes) then that means you would also include Frank in that group considering they were both the biggest backers against any enhancing drug use since the mid 90's. Hell, Pujols is probably the most secretive user back in the early 2000s, but of course he's getting praised, even though he's a tremendous player. I will say this again.. when/where/how did all the Bonds love come all of a sudden? Where were you guys one/two years ago? I've always been a fan of Bonds, and have clamored for the Sox to sign him the past few seasons. And I honestly don't want to get into this, but I've also never stated that Frank was 100 pct clean. You never know what goes through a player's mind when his skills start to diminish and they have to overcome debilitating injuries while they see everyone around them using PEDs and getting big contracts.

  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) I didn't think I was going to have to qualify this statement or state the reasoning again that I assumed was common knowledge but obviously nobody is 100% free of suspicion. Fair enough...good argument, and I hope the hero of Little Big League isn't tainted.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 24, 2009 -> 12:25 AM) You didn't like Changeling? Holy crap, how did that happen? Such an excellent excellent film. I didn't like it because I felt it was incredibly boring and could have easily been a 30 minute TV show instead of a drawn out 2 hour snooze fest.
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 11:37 PM) Yeah I know, at that point Bonds was a leadoff hitter IIRC and Griffey was a #3 hitter. I'm just saying if Griffey's #'s had been steroid-inflated he would have these video game-esque OBPs that Bonds was putting up too. Ken Griffey Jr. must have the greatest publicist in history, as it's amazing he's never been questioned about PED use. With all the freak tendon injuries he had and just unheard of home run totals, he's someone who I don't believe you can say was 100 pct clean.

So I was forced into seeing Mall Cop today...and it wasn't bad at all. Great soundtrack, and I'd have to say it was infinitely more entertaining than the last movie I saw at the theater, Changeling.

  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) This isn't me trying to start an argument, but how can anybody like Barry Bonds? I'm legitimately curious as to the reasons, because I can't think of any. He was the most dominant player in any sport I've seen during my lifetime. Of course he was on steroids....but he still was a man amongst boys who also were taking PEDs. He's also the only player of the last 10 years that I'd go out of my way to watch bat when flipping channels.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) Yeah I am admittedly very biased about the Bulldogs these days because a friend of mine starts for them, but they are just a fun team to watch and very good. Hayward's on his way to having a hell of a career for the Bulldogs.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 09:03 PM) Uh, months ago. Alot have said that Peavy will be the opening day starter for the Pads. The Padres GM changed it from being Peavy would be with this team on opening day to "Peavy will be with the team until Feb 1st".
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) Yes, a good trade for them since they were going to have to put him on Waivers after ST since he had no spot on the major league team and their manager came out and said they were giving up on him. A box of balls would have been a good trade for them. True, but they traded for a pitcher that the Padres have already let be known they're interested in (as for why, I have no idea).

  13. Joe Crede appears to be close to signing with the Twins.
  14. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 05:49 PM) My point is, I DONT CARE ABOUT THE CUBS THAT MUCH. That is all. last year it was the same thing "Oh dear, the Cubs got Rich Harden, they are going to win the world series, oh me oh my" Who cares? Some of us do....I don't understand why people that don't care always have interject in Cubs threads just to say "who cares".
  15. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 06:43 PM) yeah? so? Let me ask you this...do you really think the Cubs traded Pie for Olson cause they thought that was a fair trade?
  16. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) Must you mention this every time the Cubs are brought up? Because nearly every reputable baseball insider has stated that the deal wouldn't be completed until the ownership situation was resolved.

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 23, 2009 -> 06:38 AM) I'm really starting to dislike the NFL. There's just so much mediocrity in the league that it makes for a lot of games that are hard to watch. What makes it worse is that it's REALLY hard to ignore as a fan of other sports, the sports media bashes you over the head with NFL coverage ALL YEAR whether or not something interesting is happening. I really don't care who's griping about getting the franchise tag in March or who's holding out of training camp in July, why don't you cover a sport that's actually playing games? I know a lot of people follow the NFL, but it really gets ridiculous. I blame it on ESPN getting the rights to broadcast NFL games a few years ago. Ever since then, it's become the focal point of the network.

I hate the tall boots that girls wear.
  19. Sadly, Ricketts family are diehard Cubs fans and told MLB they'd have a payroll around 175 million a year. Peavy probably should start packing his bags.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 04:32 AM) On more than one occasion my friends and I laughed out loud at how bad the acting was tonight. I was really disappointed tonight. Hurley's acting was beyond bad tonight. My wife tried to watch this show for the first time ever....and it's just way too confusing to explain to her.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 05:44 AM) He did play better then Hansbrough when they were on their visit. Which is why you should never judge players based on one viewing. And when Palmer visited he was a consensus top 50 recruit who then never developed after that point. Yep, I'm not saying they weren't right in their observation. I am grateful they banned those open houses, as they were creepy.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 03:32 AM) Interesting to see David Palmer lighting it up for Iowa tonight. I remember him being a verbal commit to Illinois way back during Bruce Weber's first year, then he had to go to prep school, then Seton Hall for a year, eventually had to transfer and use a redshirt year, and now he's at Iowa and had a big night tonight. And the Palmer story is that Illini fans thought he was better than Hansbrough when they played at an open gym on their visit to Illinois. Arizona just got absolutely f***ed by the refs in their state rivalry game against ASU. Down 2 with 10 seconds left, they called a moving pick. It's too bad that Horne didn't get the chance to cost them another game with a foul in a tie game.
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) NW almost beat MSU in Evanston a couple of weeks ago. They had a big lead in the 2nd half. I never thought they'd beat MSU at home though. What's up with MSU lately? They look unbeatable for 2 weeks and now this. The Big Ten race just got a lot more interesting. Raymar Morgan is disappearing again in Big 10 play, same thing he did last season. Chris Allen also gets less from his ability than any player in cbball.
  24. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 01:48 AM) Brad Ausmus burned the Padres to sign a $1 million deal with the Dodgers. Henry Blanco then signs a $750k contract with the Padres. We couldn't have done that? Is it remotely possible for us to sign I-Rod? He wasn't offered arbitration, but he wants to play more often. AJ could use some more rest and he is participating in the WBC. I'd love for the Sox to sign Pudge. I'm very upset about seeing Blanco sign for that cheap.
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 21, 2009 -> 04:13 AM) Also, I am AMAZED at how bad DePaul is. Jerry Wainwright is a horrid coach. Agreed...I talked to their top booster the other day, and he doesn't even know if JW will be fired. I recommended Chris Collins to him, and I told him that you better get a big time recruiter in there as Jerrance Howard is cleaning up in Chicago. Sadly, the booster didn't know who Howard was.
