4-1, yet you have the feeling we left the door wide open for the Yankees. I hate September call-ups. BTW, Ozzie said he's playing Owens today because he had 2 hits vs Pettitte last season.
-
Take a seat you piece of s***. Well done Ozzie, well done!
-
Great eye by Uribe! Owens needs to just hit a slow grounder to Jeter.
-
6-1 in the Twins game. Huge AB for Uribe here.
-
Crap AJ, all he had to do was ground out to the right side for the 300th time this season to score a run.
-
Man, it's nice to have Konerko back! Get both of these runners in.
-
It would be interesting if PK hit a grounder to ARod.
-
Griffey with the RBI single! Gardner sure plays shallow out there.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 11:57 PM) How's Paulie looking out there tonight? speedy!
-
Great AB by Anderson. Nice to hear Hawk have glowing words for him.
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:52 AM) 5-1 Cleveland, Cleveland just scored thanks to an error by Punto than a wild pitch. Sox just need to find a way to stay at least a game up heading into this weekend.
-
After Damon pulls 6 straight foul balls, why is Anderson still shading him to left field? It's even dumber when you consider he's trying to pull it to get the runner over to 3rd.
-
Ugh, nice speed Jermaine...not! Everything Gavin's throwing is up in the zone.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 11:44 PM) Well that's a given Fathom, you'd think a soft swinging speedster like Owens would at least be capable of getting a bunt down but no he can't even do that. My question is, does Ozzie really expect any production from either Griffey or Owens against a lefty? Gavin's going to give that run back because he can't retire their s***ty #9 hitter.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:37 AM) Don't let that fluke suicide squeeze fool you, Jerry Owens can't hit worth a damn.
-
Nice homer by Alexei. I'm sure happy Owens is playing though.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 12:26 AM) Awesome time for most of the team to go in an offensive slump. That's been a common them the past 5 years or so. It makes you wonder if the strength/conditioning program needs to be adjusted during the year?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Again, Ozzie has s*** to pick from unless it is Jenks or Thornton time. If this is reality, then scrap the 4 man rotation, and let our starters go as long as possible. We've already wasted two quality starts by Danks and then Buehrle due to the stupid 4 man rotation. Just go with our best "potential" relievers then in a close game. Better to lose with your best then let a bunch of non-MLB caliber pitchers lose the game for you. I consider Ramirez and Wassermann to be non-MLB caliber. Hell, even Boone is better than those guys. There must be a reason why Russell was on the big league roster more than Wassermann was this season.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:03 PM) The Angels are tampering? Interesting. Yes (again, this was from another site, and I'm not claiming to have any info of my own).

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:52 PM) Once Betemit came in to pinch hit, Ozzie really needed to go to another RHP in the pen (if he had one up, I can't remember) instead of leaving Ramirez in there. That was the killer. He couldn't, Ramirez had to face a batter.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Right, McD should have pitched the 7th 8th and 9th innings......Thats his role. The only person who wasn't available yesterday was Thornton (according to pregame). These guys had 2 days off prior to the DH on Sunday. MacDougal in the 7th, Dotel in the 8th, Jenks for the 9th. There's really no excuse to ever use Wassermann, Ramirez, or Logan in a close game with the way the standings are.

QUOTE (scenario @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) Sounds like speculation gone wild to me. Same person who broke the Quentin story the night before it went public that it was "real bad". Who knows what's fact or fiction, but I do know that there's more to this story than the Sox just wanting to create more clubhouse space for the call-ups, etc.
-
The rumor going around on another site is that the Sox believe Boras has talked to the Angels about Crede going there next season, and with those "negotiations" going well, he's advised Crede to not take any chances the rest of this season. The White Sox were made aware of this, and they told Crede/Boras to f*** off.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) In all seriousness what are his options? He can't bring in Jenks in the 7th, and Thornton is the only other psuedo-dependable guy out there. I have said it before, and I will say it again. If none of these guys step up, we aren't winning anything anyway. He HAS to try to find SOMEONE for the 6th and 7th innings. If no one emerges, this team is either going to lose out to the Twins or get beat in the first round anyway. The thing is, there are better options than Wassermann. MacDougal, Carrasco, or Russell could have easily been brought in last night to start the 7th inning. Also, what's the point of playing match-ups with Ramirez if hitters are going to bat over .350 against him? The combination of Ramirez and Wassermann has lost us 3 games in the past 2 weeks.

Why would you play Owens against a pitcher that is impossible to steal against?
