  1. The Cubs are the most amazing 7th inning home team I've ever seen. 7-4, and still no outs in the inning.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 01:53 AM) LOLOLOLOLOLOL at Bob Brenley "Nick Markakis is like a left-handed Reed Johnson" And to think Cubs could have had him instead of Ryan Harvey. Of course, they could have had the best prospect in baseball, Wieters, if they wanted to.
  3. Isn't it almost a year ago to the day when his back injuries became very serious?
  4. QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 01:23 AM) Slayer is 2 for 2 with a walk and a RBI. He just tied the game at 6 with his single. I'm such a fan of his. Great player, one of the best college SS I've ever seen.
  5. Wow, that Batista/Edge collision was very scary (assuming it wasn't planned).
  6. So David Aardsma is throwing 98 mph for the Red Sox tonight. Why was he only throwing 92-93 mph for the White Sox last season?
  7. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 02:52 AM) This game has been fantastic. The whole tourney has been
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Not the way it was done. He wasnt throwing strikes at a clip you'd like to see but the Cubs had a couple cheap hits (see Theriot) and the two HRs hit off him were good pitches. Patterson hit a pitch that was probably a ball inside and the pitch to Ramirez was at his shins. Vazquez wasn't good, but he wasnt atrocious either. Sometimes you have to give a litte credit to the hitters as well. The cheap hits had nothing to do with the runs he allowed. His first inning was inexcusable, and then he hit the leadoff hitter on a 1-2 pitch, and the homer to Aramis was on a hanger.
  9. We're still in first for at least 2 more days!! (this isn't sarcasm, it's a reassuring thought)
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:25 AM) Cubs scored on EVERY relief pitcher the Sox brought in ALL 3 games. Way to hold them. Hell we may get swept again next week! Cubs have done this all year. They're amazing against relief pitching. They dominate teams at Wrigley from the 7th inning on. It's all why their ability to work pitchers is so important, as starters usually don't make it deep into the game.
  11. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:22 AM) What's the over/under on how many times Cabrera called the pressbox to argue about that error? He should shut his mouth, as he should have been given one on Patterson's infield single.
  12. We lost to a better team this weekend. They've now won an astonishing 31 of their last 36 home games.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:09 AM) We know, we know. But honestly, nobody besides you and Tony support that BS. To now be now 17-23 on the road after we were just 17-14 on the road is fantastic, right? To now be only 1.5 games up after just being 6.5 games up is fine, right? To not be able to open a local newspaper, flip on a local sports news station, or even ESPN itself is good, right? To hear it from a bunch of yuppy-f***s is fine, right? Sweet. It's OK guys. We're fine. As long as we're in first, it's cool. Even if we lose 10 in a row with an 11 game lead is fine, too, right? Don't give them a hard time because they're remaining optimistic.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:07 AM) If Kemp was a lead off type guy, I'd be for it, but we should be shooting for the stars instead of the ceiling. And I'm sure Kemp has plenty more AB's than BA, so that really isn't a fair comparison. Shooting for the stars? Matt Kemp has about as much star potential as any young hitter in baseball. As he cuts down on his strikeout totals and moves to a hitting park, he's going to be a stud!
  15. Look at the lineup we trotted out there tonight. That's not a very good lineup. We're missing 60+ homers with PK and Thome out of the lineup. When you factor in that Crede was brutal this weekend, and Swisher's been a disaster....it's hard to see how this team can play first place caliber of baseball for the next few weeks.
  16. Alexei sure was in a hurry at the dish tonight.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 04:01 AM) I'm guessing Cre-DP Nope, just the good ole Crede pop up to the right side
  18. Crede was a foot away from a 5-4-3 triple play
  19. I'll support this thread....losing 8 of our last 9 to the Cubs is just disgraceful.
  20. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 23, 2008 -> 02:52 AM) I've said that we should sell high on Contreras while he still has some value. I've thought all along that these past couple of months have been an a aberration, and based on his last couple of outing, my hypotennuse is getting stronger. I really don't think what we will get from Contreras for the remander of the season will be anything better than what we would get from Masset/Broadway/whoever in his spot in the rotation. Broadway has not been overly impressive for a while now. Have you seen the numbers that guys put up in the majors in comparison to their AAA stats in that league? Jojo Reyes looked like Cy Young in AAA.
  21. If that means we throw at Aramis here, I'm happy they just scored.
  22. To quote Major League: "who gives a s***, it's gone"
