  1. I won't watch a single inning of a Cubs games this weekend unless the opposition is up by more than a run in the final innings. The Rockies, at this juncture, have to be one of the worst teams in baseball over the past decade.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 30, 2008 -> 01:21 AM) not recently you dont mean, right? you mean this offseason? Yes, prior to getting Swisher. I heard the other day that if the Sox had got Fukudome, the Cubs were going to trade for Swisher.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 30, 2008 -> 01:19 AM) when were we mentioned with him? Can't remember when, but there was a Tribune article stating the Sox were interested in him.
  4. A player we were actually mentioned with that I'm shocked is playing well is Jason Bay.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:16 AM) I still love you Johnny Danks. Great job to keep us the lead. In all honesty, Pena's one of the guys you most want to see in that situation.
  6. QUOTE (rafacosta @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) PK was scared of the ball.. What happened?
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) Every time we score first, our pitcher goes out and gives it right back. Very annoying. Are they hitting Danks hard this inning? Usually Danks doesn't implode until the 5th or 6th.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2008 -> 01:03 AM) Who the hell would have known McLouth would have done what he did and no way would the Sox have gotten Hamilton. Volquez is 10 times the prospect (hell the Sox didn't, nor do they have anyone in the system who even comes close to being Volquez). The Reds wanted either two pitching prospects for Hamilton or one stud prospect. Remember when the Cubs were trying to get Hamilton for Marshall and Veal? Thankfully they didn't.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) Was Swisher involved in that? Wouldn't that been when he was coming up with the A's (end of Tejada era and into Chavez's era)? CQ....you're my favorite player in baseball!
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2008 -> 11:47 PM) Dan Haren says hi. Ditto Tim Hudson. You could also have said "Don't sign them as FA's either" after the Giambi debacle...but then you wouldn't have a trophy. Haren wasn't really involved with the Giambi/Tejada/Chavez era. I was thinking more of the young, dumb, and full of *** bunch that they used to brag about.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) 6 of our regulars are hitting .210 or below over the last week. 7 if you count Anderson. This is the pessimist in me, but this 4 game series is set up to be an offensive nightmare like the Blue Jays series. If CQ has to carry this team, we're looking at single digits for the 4 game series again.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:44 AM) At this point...it's a fair question. Just never trade for Oakland players.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) I really hope you're not right about that. I dunno, JR's always had a thing for character guys. Do we think he might have stood in the way of a Hamilton trade? How's Hamilton any different than Jenks?
  14. QUOTE (rafacosta @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) Not even a Sac Fly... I assume there was no chance for Thome to tag on Swisher's fly?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 30, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) Hell, he only has 15 hits total in 83 at bats. I hate thinking that we could have easily gotten Hamilton, or even McLouth, for less than what we got Swisher for.
  16. Swisher has 5 extra base hits this entire month.
  17. We face their two best pitchers, and then the guy who might have had the best game against us all season in Sonnastine. The Sox had a lot of success earlier this season against Edwin Jackson, so hopefully they can do well against him tonight.
  18. Fautino De Los Santos-S- Athletics May. 29 - 9:35 am et According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Fautino De Los Santos "had elbow-ligament replacement surgery this week." The newspaper doesn't go into any further details, but he was recently shut down because of elbow soreness and Tommy John surgery would sideline him for the remainder of this season and much of 2009. Acquired from the White Sox this offseason as part of the package for Nick Swisher, De Los Santos was one of the A's top prospects. Source: San Francisco Chronicle This makes the Swisher struggles so far a little easier to take.
  19. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ May 29, 2008 -> 04:52 AM) And the key to that IMHO, has been getting the core group of guys younger. Your Floyd's, Danks', Quentin's etc. KW needs to keep doing that from season to season. Guys will who give you edge (both on the field and in the clubhouse), but players who are just about to come into their primes. 1B/DH is a prime area that KW could look to "revitalize" in the off-season. More like in two weeks during the draft.
  20. What a cheap ass single. Ugh, I hate those douchebags.
  21. James Loney has been worthless this series. How do you miss those fastballs Howry's throwing right down the plate?
  22. Twins just had a miraculous comeback against the Royals to tie it. 5 runs scored with 2 outs in the 9th.
  23. QUOTE (daa84 @ May 29, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) no saito never touched 1st Shades of last season, where the opposition can't play defense to save their lives.
  24. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 29, 2008 -> 02:47 AM) Crap. I didn't get a good look on that play at first, was he out? Safe, Saito missed the bag.
