  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 25, 2008 -> 12:47 AM) We are in first place. There's no way Oz and/or KW will fire him during the season. So we might as well quit moaning about Walker and wanting him canned. Like many said ... you think Thome, Konerko, Crede, Swisher, A.J., Dye are going to listen to a hitting coach, any hitting coach? I'd rather continue blasting the players when they suck than dredge up the fire Walker thread, because he's not going anywhere. They might not reach out to be told what to do, but if you don't think that a new hitting coach might be able to give them a different viewpoint as to what they're doing wrong, then you're naive. Either that, or please sign Manny Alexander, and get our players on some PEDs.
  2. Worst managerial move I've ever seen....Pirates let Fukudome bat with a runner on 2nd and 1 out. They had a tough lefty up in the pen. Instead, they let Fukudome face Yates, and of course, he singles up the middle. Go f*** yourself Pirates!
  3. Pirates bullpen going to hand the game to the Cubs. Nothing like throwing Aramis a good pitch to hit on 1-2. If the Sox had the Cubs hitting, they'd be the best team in baseball.
  4. When the fans go nuts when Jim Thome gets a 25 foot single, you know he sucks. At this point, OC and Swisher are massive busts.
  5. Sadly, I went to the game. The parking was just awful, and the game was worse. This offense is atrocious. I don't know who's worse in clutch situations, Thome or OC? Danks was solid, but he has to stay stronger towards the 100 pitch marker than he does.
  6. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ May 24, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) I share your thoughts about Fields but the reality is he has a long way to go, especially with strike zone judgement. I realize most on this site are anxious to annoint him something special but if he continues with all these strikeouts and lack of strike zone judgement, everyone will be sorely disappointed and on his case. Flame away but in my opinion if you can trade him and get a really good return, you do it. But they will keep him due to the uncertainty of Crede, which I completely understand. I just think they should look for a better long term solution at 3B. As for Bourgeois, yes, he has been a disappointment. He started out strong in spring but the last 10 days he was with the big league camp, his play was uneven, both offensively and defensively. This is a guy that people were up in arms about, in terms of not being added to the 40 man. So far, he's showing he's right where he belongs, in the minor leagues. That said, I hope he turns it on because his skillset is needed ... speed, contact hitting, versatility. Reinsdorf said yesterday that Crede absolutely won't talk about an extension during the season. Thus, we'll have to get in a bidding war for him this offseason. Hard to see the Sox winning that with Boras calling the shots.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2008 -> 04:47 AM) I knew somebody was going to make a Pods Joke. But for real, they figured to be one of the more explosive offenses in the game (I obviously thought so. I drafted three of them in my Soxtalk fantasy league). They play the Cubs next week, so I'm sure you'll see plenty of complaining from me and Daa about them.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 24, 2008 -> 03:38 AM) Can somebody explain to me the disaster that has been the Colorado Rockies' offense? The Pods effect
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 24, 2008 -> 03:25 AM) Her link is no longer active because she was forced to resign from the Laker girls due to all the rumors. http://jeanettes-celebrity-corner.com/2008...a-curry-photos/ This story just got hot this week. He's an NBA player through and through, and although I don't think he raped that girl in Colorado, of course he cheats, almost all pro athletes do. You'd figured he'd be smarter than to do it with somebody as high profile as a Laker girl though. or the fact she has the same name as his wife!
  10. I heard a rumor at work that Kobe is banging the Laker girl named Vanessa, and that's why her link isn't active on this site.... http://www.nba.com/lakers/lakergirls/index.html
  11. I was so hyped for these playoffs, but besides the Hornets and some Lakers games, nothing has really intrigued me.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 24, 2008 -> 04:09 AM) Yeah, but my pipedream would never work anyways due to how bad that defense would be. Plus, I think we're going to move Swish to 1st and DH Paulie as soon as Thome is gone, so that means we'll have a need in CF too, and I don't think we have anybody in our organization to fill that void right now. Of course, we could just move Swish to LF too, keep Paulie at 1st, and DH Dye. Swisher at 1b is pretty mediocre in terms of offense. Who knows what will happen....I can see the Sox going after Furcal with a huge deal.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 24, 2008 -> 04:05 AM) My pipedream: Thome retires Dye moves to DH Quentin moves to right Dunn is signed to play left Of course, having an older JD or Dunn at all out there (you could DH Dunn too) hurts the defense, but I'd still love to see it. On the radio today, Bruce Levine said the Sox plan on moving CQ to RF next year.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ May 24, 2008 -> 03:03 AM) I thought that as well. Is she so arrogant not to think for a second she is probably just as much of a target as he would be. Maybe not as much, but you get what I mean. The thing is, if something did happen to Obama, I think saying something like this today just made her public enemy #2 besides the assassin.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 24, 2008 -> 03:56 AM) Unfortunately, fathom is right about the assassination threats. It's even affected some of his travel plans, if hearsay is accurate. I think Hillary was honest insinuating potential assassination as one reason she's staying around, however that is just evil logic by her (not surprising) and you don't say s*** like that because it only encourages the nut jobs. This is a stretch, I'll be the first to admit...but the first thing I thought about when hearing this comment by her is that it was almost her way of putting this thought into the mind of someone that doesn't want Obama to defeat her for the nomination.
  16. My brother got the chance to go to the TOC tonight at UNC. It's a great weekend of games, and he said the following: John Wall is very good, but he doesn't necessarily make people around him better. Favors isn't as tall as advertised, and is nowhere close to being a finished product. Jereme Richmond was unimpressive (unlike me, my brother is a U of I fan). He said Richmond was getting frustrated any possession he didn't touch the ball. But get this...according to my brother, one of the top 3 players at the event tonight was Marcus Jordan.
  17. Instead of articles that try to hurt guys doing good, why not have articles bashing certain players who's performance has fallen off the charts since PEDs were banned?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 24, 2008 -> 02:30 AM) Thome is the last f*** on this roster I ever want up. I f***ing hate him. He was good in the past but I don't live on that. He makes contact on fewer swings than any everyday player in baseball. What a f***ing worthless bum. It's disappointing that we have 3 players in PK, Thome, and Swisher who shock us all when they do something productive.
  19. When I saw OPRF play Waukegan, Kaplan's antics with Jereme Richmond's father were embarrassing. You would have thought Richmond's dad was the President of the United States with how much ass-kissing was going on.
  20. I hope Jim Thome retires after this season.
  21. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 24, 2008 -> 02:22 AM) Thome is clutch. Thome is the last person on the roster, in terms of offensive players, I want up in any clutch situation. Not only has hit bat speed disappeared, but his strike zone judgment blows now. Everyone in the stands knows what pitch is coming except for him. I'll be at the game tomorrow...can't wait to see him chase the 3-2 change-up every time.
