QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) No question about Ozuna being on there. Maybe they see Owens as the Willie Harris addition of this year. But, as we all know, there is only Willie Harris. And he dominates regularly. From my source who's seen Owens play a lot, he described him as a lesser hitting Willie Harris.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:19 PM) Ozuna, LF Iguchi, 2B Dye, RF PK, DH Crede, 3B Gload, 1B Uribe, SS Mack, CF Alomar, C Jose on the mound Well...that looks like a losing lineup. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) Can't wait for this day. Is this sarcasm?
-
Yes, Ozuna deserves to be on the playoff roster. He's a great situational hitter, can play numerous positions (not well, but at least he's an option), and is the fastest guy on the team. Sweeney is a much better player than Owens is, and if we're calling up someone to start in LF, it should be Sweeney.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) It's official. Ozzie is mentally handicapped. Mackowiak in CF. Per the Score. I hate our manager. If Anderson isn't injured, then Ozzie deserves to be fired.

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) And that, my friends, illustrates just how little faith they have in Podsednik going forward. I don't think it has anything to do with Pods. I think it's more that they want a possible pinch runner on the bench for the playoffs (I don't see how he'd make the 25 man roster though).

QUOTE(minorsfan @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) If my info is correct (I trust my source) I think they are going to bring him up and then DL him for a minor league rehab assignment-- not really sure how all that works but he would be available in the playoffs if needed I think. That would mean that the Sox would still have to DL someone else in order to call him up prior to 9/1. My source is going to talk with the Charlotte radio guy soon, and I'll let you know what he finds out.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Sox currently have a 3 game winning streak on my birthday. Happy Birthday

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) The one to Young definitely wasn't a double. He Ole'd it on a hard hit ball that would have landed against most RFers. Your source is inside the D-rays org, right? We're getting similar info, though I suspect from differing outlets. Yes, he's with the DRays.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) If you go back to May, you'll find me asking what the Hell Greg Walker was doing to earn his money. He's earned it since. Crede has finally learned how to hit. Anderson has finally learned how to hit. Uribe got his average out of the toilet. Dye, Konerko have both managed to avoid getting into anything resembling a prolongued slump. AJ has spent most of the season going the other way. Beyond that, there have been plenty of games where the Sox have come in and clearly had an excellent plan for how to deal with pitchers, and that's the work of the hitting coach too. I think the best example of one of those games was the game against Halladay. I just find it hillarious that after yesterday's game, Walker was the person who had a "Fire" thread about him, and not some of the other legitimate culprits.

I talked with someone who saw Sweeney play last night, and even though he said both of his doubles should have been errors, he did say that Sweeney should definitely be playing instead of Pods right now. He said Sweeney made a great running catch on a tough play in the outfield. His reviews of Fields weren't nearly as good though.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) No argument here. I haven't liked our approach at the plate as much since the break. There's really nothing to like about this team outside of Dye and Garland. Crede and Thornton

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 06:11 AM) Maybe this is a good thing. Maybe if these guys have to sit home after winning it all last year, they'll get hungry again and will it all next year. And we'll make some personnel changes on and off the field!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:56 AM) I think Ozzie needs to realize that Cotts cannot get lefties out, just like Marte last year couldnt get lefties out. Why is he option A out of the pen. It's disturbing that we're about 125 games into the season, and it seems like Ozzie has been coaching this particular group of players for about a week. He keeps making some of the same mistakes.

BTW...may I recommend moving Gload into the #2 hole in the order, and putting Iguchi 7th in the lineup.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:28 AM) Got it, ha ha ha, so very very funny, enough already. From both accounts. It's funny how we've seen a string of those type of posts. Why can't we just simply have one that says: White Sox, plz play better baseball. A lot of us take out our frustrations by venting on this board...and then there's a lot of people who take out their frustrations on those posters who are taking out their frustrations on this board.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 05:02 AM) Did anyone catch Hawk conceding the Central on channel 5 yesterday? It was actually shown on Detroit TV. Hawk said the Sox wouldn't catch the Tigers. Yeah, he said their pitching was too strong to collapse.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:57 AM) The problem Flash is how our Offense hits in the 2nd half year in and year out. At the point the temps heat up at Coors East, our guys stop hitting and start with a lift and pull thing going on. When we face a good pitcher who has a good changeup we are meat. We will go up there like blind robots swinging for the fences, trying to guess which one of the 2 pitches Santana will throw against us. Konerko didnt see a fastball last game and looked stupid swinging at changeups in the dirt. Other teams put up some sort of offensive attack. There is no reason that he has an under 2 ERA against us in the last 2 years. Outside of us helping him with our attack. 2 strikes, swing for the fence K. Some of the guys who actually did damage against Santana were Ordonez and Rowand, and that's cause they would drive the ball to the opposite field against him.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:56 AM) I was seriously sitting in my car just f***ing pounding my head on the wheel at the retarded s*** he was saying. I was doing this during his pregame today, and I was in a good, optimistic mood.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:30 AM) Is he injured or what? Why can't anyone within the media answer the question, or management answer it? Someone on this board mentioned Cooper citing McCarthy's "sore shoulder" as an excuse, but then why haven't there been any newspaper reports about it? Have I just missed them? Well, when I don't throw for a few years, the next time I pitch, my shoulder is a little sore.
-
QUOTE(chisox72 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:29 AM) Hah! The Sox have to "find a way" to make Cotts effective and give him "condfidence"...... I miss Brian Dolgin..... Did he really say this? I told you he always uses the confidence excuse.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) "All due respect". Just saying, with Santana tomorrow...saying Sunday is paramount is going out on a limb of sorts -- just a really big, stable limb. Respect? I don't need no stinking respect. I think I said that comment to make me feel better about this weekend. I need this season to last as long as possible, because as soon as it's over, it's wedding planning time....YUCK!

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:27 AM) Wow, I guess I feel really bad about this loss if I think Mr. Pessimism is being a little too optimistic. They played it like a must win game and lost. What does that say about their chances in other must win games? Well, if it makes you feel better, I think our current chemistry sucks and Ozzie has absolutely no clue how to manage this personnel.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) I haven't read the thread but how about some blame for Joey Cora. Getting a guy thrown out at home with less than 2 out is inexcusable. As I said in other threads, you could feel the entire momentum of the game shift then.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:26 AM) Their rotation is better than ours has been (for months), even without Radke. Obviously that is a problem for them, but they have been playing better than the Sox in every way for the past two months. I don't know why that should suddenly change. Losing Radke would be huge for them. He's been great over the past few months. I like our chances if their rotation is Santana and then 4 other guys a lot more than if it was Santana, Liriano, Radke, and then 2 others.

QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 26, 2006 -> 04:23 AM) ADR, that's one of the more underwhelming calls I've ever heard. ADR? What does that mean. If we can come out of this series 1/2 game out of the WC lead, I like our chances the rest of the way with Radke injured and Liriano not returning as a starter.
