QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:29 AM) Jose doesn't even last 3 innings? I got a feeling he'll be on the DL tomorrow. The guy is hurt, folks, let's face facts. As of right now, he's just another guy on a long list of players that look to have caught lightning in a bottle last year.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) The only positive that can come out of this game would be for McCarthy to throw four-five dominant innings, really forcing Ozzie and Coop's hand. Ozzie would still say: the real Cy Young was on the hill for the Twins. I've been preaching about our pathetic outfield defense this season (besides for Anderson's range), and it's been a killer tonight. Two fly balls that Mackowiak showed no range on, and Ozuna letting a high pop fly fall for a hit. Meanwhile, Sandy crushed a ball to the gap, and Tyner makes the catch easily.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) With our inability to get get any kind of consistency out of the rotation, and the Twins just man-handling us constantly, I'm starting to think this year is over. You mean every year besides last season?

QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) Another fastball down the middle with 2 strikes. There's some real bad pitch calling tonight. Add Sandy to the list of guys that we need to wind up on the DL.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) I feel sick. Nah, this is funny in one of those bad ways. I was thinking about this earlier: I get pissed off when we lose this year, but it's not even close to the emotions I had around this time last year. I remember feeling like my body temperature increase by 20 degrees when Bobby Jenks blew a save against Aaron Boone.
-
Ozzie....keep letting Contreras die out there.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Have the Sox ever scored 5 runs in a game that Santana was the opposing pitcher? Yes, we bombed him about 3 years ago early in the year when he was having some elbow issues.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:24 AM) Gardy just bends Ozzie over backwards and rams him everytime we play Yep, he really does. Even last year, he managed some damn good games against us when he had a lot of injuries.
-
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) I see GOD is on the forum tonight, can you help the White Sox? Why would he help him when his nemesis is the Sox manager?
-
Ozzie is definitely taking it in the backside this series.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:21 AM) Corners, 1 out. Any runs cross here and it is just beyond demoralizing. BTW...I finally saw Chris Young's homer. That didn't make me feel too good.
-
QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) If Buehrle was on the market right now, would you give up McCarthy for him? I don't think so. It matters what team you're talking about. If I was an NL team, I'd do anything to get him.
-
QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) That was a terrible pitch. Come on...a 91 mph fastball down the plate against one of the best hitters in baseball this year is a great pitch.
-
Sandy....for big power hitters, please stop calling for fastballs down the f***ing plate.
-
Good range by our outfield tonight.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Seriously, put in McCarthy now, give jose some extra rest, and see if the kid can hold em. Maybe a short outing would help Jose's arm feel a little better next time out. Ozzie hasn't done that once this year....and yet he still wonders why they all have lost velocity.
-
Is it bad that I feel like the fan who interferred last night has shown the most will to win on this team so far this series?
-
I miss the days of Contreras getting 2 strikes on the hitter and then trying to ace them with the nasty forkball. How come no one is asking what happened to his velocity? He's down about 5 mph from this time last year.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:14 AM) You're also cherry picking. Jose Contreras has been a dominant pitcher all his life in Cuba. He just keeps getting into some bad grooves here. When he followed the formula he was using in Cuba, he was dominating people. Jon Garland was a young pitcher who finally seemed to grow up and find a rhythm last year, something that does happen sometimes. Mark Buehrle is just having a terrible season. Yes, I'm cherry picking the positives, but I think on all 3 of them, the positives strongly outweigh the negatives. I see positives for the 2007 for every pitcher besides Garcia, even though it wouldn't shock me if he "finds" an extra 3 mph next year during his contract season. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) That would be great, but why would any team give up a major league ready stud for any of these guys? Buehrle has a ton of value, trust me.
-
Twins with some more good positioning. Sandy comes through once again....NOT!
-
QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) this must be some sort of mistake, somehow the tying run is at the plate Oh I get it... the forfeit has to be handed in from SECOND BASE that must be why this game is still going on WE GET THE POINT!
-
I know PK is slow, but how does he not score on a grounder that he's running on?
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) Ross Gload is one professional hitter. He should be our LF/leadoff hitter. Hell, make him taking fielding practice every day this offseason.
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) Rob Mackowiak has started 4 of our last 6 games in CF. There are three things that really astonish me this year: - The predictability of Vazquez's 6th inning blow-ups - A manager's continue use of a corner outfielder in CF when he has a healthy CF - Cora's amazing ability to lose this team momentum. If we don't make the playoffs this year, I will stand by my belief that the turning point for our momentum was when he sent Iguchi home in that 2nd game against the Royals last week.

I've said this about Contreras for two months now. His best pitch is the forkball. However, he seems to have fallen in love with an average, at best, slider, and he hangs that pitch far too often during the game. If you go back and watch him during his great stretch last year, he was basically a sinker/forkball pitcher.
