Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
The good news is that Tampa won't trade Crawford this offseason.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) Come on, this can't be all there is to it. This should be a wake up call to some of the ridiculous trades that have been suggested on here.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 03:31 AM) Man how the f*** is this all we get, EVERYONE NEEDS PITCHING DAMNIT Cause this offseason is a f***ing disaster. If KW doesn't have another move in mind, he deserves to be heavily criticized.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
Well, thanks for the memories Freddy. I only hope your 88 mph is still in style next year.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
Floyd's stuff is nowhere near what is used to be, and he has attitude issues. He's given up 73 runs in his last 80 MLB innings pitched.

ESPN just confirmed the trade. What a freaking joke.

Garcia to Philly for Gavin Floyd and Gio Gonzalez
Wow, there's no way it can be straight up. If so, what a disaster.

If the Red Sox get Penny, I hope their team doctor is ready for all the MRIs that their starters will need next season.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:53 PM) I agree, on that list we dont really have a long reliever, and it is very essential to have that piece. I don't worry about the long reliever position too much due to Ozzie's use of our starters. No matter how bad they're doing, our starters will always go 6 innings.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) I have looked at the 2005 team and considered how it accomplished what the all-star Yankee team could not. That difference is hard to describe but to illustrate it by example I would point to Rowand. However, on additional consideration, I can't deny the difference was quite likely Mark, Jon, Freddy, and Jose. Still, I like Aaron and would take him back for a fair price. SFF The American League is so much stronger now than it was in 2005 though. We need to keep improving, because the powerhouse teams in the AL are getting stronger also.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) I'm not saying Hirsch isn't a top prospect. He's the Astros' top prospect but there are other teams that are better matches. I am not trading Freddy unless we get some special prospects because I think he's going to have a hell of a season next year. On the other hand, if 88 mph Garcia shows up again, we just robbed the Astros of their best prospect. I honestly believe that KW is looking to acquire a young starting pitcher so that he can trade McCarthy also.

Sox show interest in Toronto's Wells
QUOTE(iamshack @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:26 PM) Would you be willing to commit to a 6/120 contract to keep him here? I for one would rather just give Brian another chance this year, and if he doesn't work out, make the effort to sign Wells next year when he becomes a FA. Yes, I would definitely consider it. We're not going to sign him if he becomes a FA, as a lot of big market names will be in the mix.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Sorry Keith, but I think we get absolutely reamed in that deal. Hirsch isn't near the prospect I want if all we are getting in addition to him is Burke (who is a decent player but will never be anything great). Freddy Garcia has been great and could still be great so there is no way I'm dealing him without getting the possibility of greatness in return (meaning upper echelon spects that can help the team now, some of which could be moved to get the club its CFer). I have to disagree with you here. Hirsh is a big time pitching prospect, and I doubt the Astros would give him up. Also, Burke is definitely in their future plans after 2007, so I don't think they'd give him up either. I'm more concerned that the deal would focus on Tavares, who is a bad player. An outfield with Pods and Tavares would be a disaster.

Sox show interest in Toronto's Wells
QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) Vernon Wells is awesome! However, Toronto would want the world for him, im guessing a package of Brian Anderson, Freddy Garcia, Lance Broadway and more... FORGET IT! Not for a rent-a-player. He would be another Bartolo Colon. Just too bad we dont have anymore Rocky Biddle's to offer That's what we're saying...if we can extend him, then I don't care who we give up for him.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 05:17 PM) That report makes absolutely no sense to me though so I just can't believe that would be the case. Farnsworth had some sort of chemical imbalance IIRC and it was diagnosed late in his tenure with the Cubs but I remember it was something similar to ADD and it kept him from being able to focus and since than he's taking medication to correct the problem. I've heard legendary stories of Farnsworth's partying here. I'd rather not have him on the Sox, as he seems like the type of guy who can never get the big out in a big game.

Rumor:Garcia to Philles for Arow + Madson/Floyd
From roto... The Philadelphia Inquirer says a deal sending Jon Lieber to Milwaukee for Kevin Mench and Derrick Turnbow is in place, pending the result of the Phillies' negotiations with the White Sox. The Phillies might not make the trade unless they can get Freddy Garcia from the White Sox, probably using Aaron Rowand and Gavin Floyd. It's unclear whether that will work, and White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen isn't wild about the idea. "We have a center fielder right now," Guillen said. "I won't trade one of my pitchers one-for-one for Rowand right now. He's a good player, but we're not desperate for a center fielder. I love Aaron, but we need more." Please don't do this trade KW!

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
If we're going to trade McCarthy to Tampa, it better be for Crawford.

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) owens and broadway for rocco. Ha....Owens would be about 50th on Tampa's outfield depth chart.

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) I'm sure that could be talked down, and I believe when healthy Rocco is > than Crawford. Rocco isn't close to Crawford. Crawford is better in just about ever aspect.

Rocco Baldelli piques Sox' interest
Tampa's asking price is insane for Rocco. From the sounds of it, they'd want two top prospects like Fields and Broadway.

Steve Phillips....c'mon now
If Bonds wants to be a DH, he'll end up with the Tigers.
-
Steve Phillips....c'mon now
BTW, if the Sox were to get Bonds, then Anderson would be the perfect CF to go along with him.
-
Steve Phillips....c'mon now
What's the difference between Pods and Bonds? Both are horrific fielding left fielders who have seen their power numbers plummet since the 2004 season and both don't hustle down the line. One is a future Hall of Famer though, and the other one is a future Schaumburg Flyers designated hitter.

Steve Phillips....c'mon now
I really don't know why more teams aren't considering him. Yes, he's a bad person. However, the ratings for any game he plays in are going to be insane once he gets within 10 homers of the record.
