  1. Hopefully Freddy doesn't intentionally try to throw that high offspeed pitch tonight. No matter what anyone says, it's a bad pitch. This Twins lineup has a lot of speed in it, and you know they'll be running wild on Garcia. We need the offense to step it up this weekend.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) I just have a bad feeling we are all going to want to pull our hair out after this weekend. Prove me wrong Sox.... I have a feeling that if we don't win at least one of the first two games of this series, this place will be in full meltdown mode.
  3. Here's my pessimistic prediction for the wknd....one of our outfielders will lose a ball in the ceiling of the dome.
  4. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 18, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) I don't understand all the clamouring for "smallball". The offense is the best in the league. The pitching has been horrible. The team ERA is almost the same as Cleveland's. Put last year's offense with this year's pitching and you would have a team that would be very lucky to be .500. You can't play small ball when you need to score 7 or 8 runs a night in order to win a game, although I would like to see some more stolen base attempts. I'd like to see more hit-and-runs. Simply put, we're a terrible team at getting jumps and stealing bases. Not only are our guys being thrown out at an alarming rate, but they're not even close to being safe. Smallball was magnified last year due to our offense being medicore for a large portion of the season. This year, we have a team that can outslug the opposition, and I hate giving up outs prior to our monster 3-4-5-Crede coming up to the plate. With our pitchers performing like they have this year, playing for one run prior to the 6th inning is a mistake.
  5. A win's a win. I wasn't able to watch it, but I felt a sense of relief when DeJesus went to 2nd on his hit. I would much rather face Sweeney than Grudz in that situation.
  6. Thornton should have been in to face Thornton, and then Jenks gets the righties. Instead, Jenks has to come in and face a dead fastball hitter with the tying run on base.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 08:18 PM) EMINEM IS OUT OF GAS OZZIE, TAKE HIM OUT. He's definitely not a 2 inning type pitcher, especially after throwing the night before.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Haha, nice try by JD...2 on - 1 out. C'mon Mike What happened? I still don't agree with using MacDougal last night. He's the type of guy who you need to keep fresh.
  9. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) MArk's got the DP ball working today, but i'd be very caredul with him going into the 7th. The front end of our BP is well rested We should go MacDougal, Thornton, and Jenks to end it.
  10. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) i really hope Juan is gone next year. I think him and Pods are on their way out.
  11. We need to keep the lead or keep the game tied. If we get down by 2 or more runs, I'm not sure if this team has enough momentum to comeback.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) Gooch can't get it done, damn He always struggles against lefties with good changeups.
  13. Sandy's really doing wonders for Buehrle.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) bingo One of these days, our hitters are going to realize that the scouting report is to throw them an offspeed pitch on 3-2. RARELY do you see our hitters get a 3-2 fastball with no one on.
  15. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) You could see that coming a mile away What happened? I'm not watching, but I would guess he threw a changeup on a 3-2 count to Anderson.
  16. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:29 PM) The lineup is actually decent, its the starting pitching thats Bad Their lineup today is actually pretty good. Apparently Buddy Bell plays his regulars more than Ozzie does, and I don't think Buehrle can hold this starting 9 to under 4 runs today.
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:25 PM) Another wasted DP opportunity It's amazing how much worse our defense is this season compared to last year.
  18. This could have been a good game to have McCarthy go 3 innings, but for some reason, Ozzie wasted him or MacDougal last night.
  19. I love when finesse pitchers start giving up a ton of homers in a season. Nothing sounds declining production like that.
  20. QUOTE(lukeman89 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 06:16 PM) haha pablo! both teams lead off w/ a home run when was the last time that happened? About an hour ago
  21. Wow...two games already today where both teams had leadoff homers.
  22. If we go on to not make the playoffs, that Joey Cora play sending home Iguchi on Tuesday night will be one of the turning points of the season for me.
  23. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Aug 17, 2006 -> 04:35 PM) Today's Lineup Ozuna, LF; Iguchi, 2B; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; Dye, RF; Crede, 3B; Anderson, CF; Uribe, SS; Alomar, C. Buehrle on the mound. Anderson up to hitting 7th, Ozuna starting for the 2nd time in the series. That's just not a very dangerous lineup against lefties. KW still has two weeks to upgrade this team.
