  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:35 AM) Are people still saying the Abreu trade won't help the Yankees that much? Oh, and this inning has sucked all of the momentum out of the team that they gained last night. More and more, I'm starting to believe this team is like every other Sox team pre-2005. We just keep waiting for that magical spark to send us on that definitive streak, and it never comes or they never capitalize on said spark. Brian Cashman gave the Yankees a HUGE lift at the deadline. Abreu was struggling in Philly, but that team also has a terrible psyche going. Being around professional hitters was definitely going to bring out his strengths again.
  2. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:34 AM) the New York Rentastar's. I'm going to enjoy watching the comeback even more tonight than last. Rent-a-stars? They have more homegrown players in their lineup than we do.
  3. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) And eat his contract? Unless you don't want an entire 25 man roster next year with major league players, no. But I was told that money isn't an issue anymore?
  4. Couldn't we have traded 4 crappy prospects for Abreu? QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:32 AM) Must we hear this every night by Hawk? Johnson has hung a few over the plate and we haven't capitalized. The Yanks have. The pitch to Jeter should have been a strike. The pitch to Abreu was a blatant ball.
  5. STOP THROWING THE CHANGEUP GARLAND! P.S.- feel free to get ejected anytime you want Ozzie. It can't do anything but energize this team.
  6. Ugh...I just realized that the Twins play Toronto in a 4 game series, and they're not going to have to face Halladay.
  7. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:25 AM) Nothing new. Every hard hit ball has been a high changeup. I've been saying this for 3 years now, but for a sinker ball pitcher, Garland gets hurt far too often with his changeup.
  8. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) Also, the Yankees really have an idea of what they're doing with the bats. You'd think the Yankees would be the HR-or-nothing team, but that's us. I'm so impressed with the Yankees. They definitely go about offense the right way. IF, and I know it's a big if, they get Matsui and Sheffield back healthy, I think they're going to win the WS.
  9. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) He has been on FIRE. Morneau is a monster. If he keeps this type of development up, him and Mauer are going to be an amazing 3-4 hitters for the next 10 years. Also, if you want to know why the Twins are rolling, look no farther than their 1-2 hitters right now. Those guys have been getting on base at tremendous rates lately.
  10. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:20 AM) Give me a break. Half of Johnsons sliders are hanging and his fastball is as straight as Garcias. There's a reason he's posting the numbers he is this season. Maybe this will force KW to actually try and upgrade the 4th outfield position. Hell, I'd rather just throw Gload out there, and hope that he can provide some offense. None of the three can play any defense.
  11. 2nd half MVP of baseball gives the Twins a 4-3 lead with a homer off of Zumaya.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) I love when we make struggling pitchers look dominating. This is not a good lineup we have to face him tonight.
  13. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:14 AM) That's why the Tigers have been so successful this year (besides good pitching)...their lower half of the order has really come through for them. And they consistently beat the best pitchers in baseball.
  14. That 0-2 pitch looked like a strike.
  15. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) He's truly on his way to becoming a big liability out there. I honestly think that our starters ERA would be significantly better if we saw better range by our corner outfielders (and Rob when he's in center).
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) We're...uh...we're not good at building on momentum. How many times this year have we said, "that win is going to spark the team," or something like that? At least the infield defense showed up today.
  17. Lets go offense...wake up! 2 for 31
  18. I'm going to cry...I turned on the Cubs game to see Brady Clark bat (the guy we all want for LF/CF). On the first pitch I see, he hits a bomb off of Zambrano. At least it was against the Cubs. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:49 AM) Buck Martinez isn't the most pleasant voice to listen to...but he's pretty knowledgable and relays good info. The problem is it's not always true.
  19. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) Well, with AJ on deck, I don't think its that dumb, but yes, Congrats! I agree, it's a smart decision. Randy is the best lefty pitcher against lefty hitters I've seen in my lifetime. I don't care if Sandy is Buehrle's personal catcher, he should have been playing tonight also.
  20. I never thought I'd see the day where Randy Johnson pitches around Joe Crede. Congrats Joe!
  21. It's going to be a long game if we can't capitalize on Johnson's hanging sliders. From what I've seen of him this year, he'll hang about one out of every three sliders he throws.
