This is usually something I don't say, but even if we can't tie this and win it next inning, I think this can help the momentum of the team. If you disagree...then shame on me for being optimistic.
-
One thing we should keep in mind, including me, is that Rivera would have been in to face Crede if Crede represented the tying run.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 03:06 AM) We should be winning this if Ozzie knew when to pull pitchers or we could do some moderate damage with no outs and the bases loaded. I would love for someone to ask him why didn't he IBB ARod with runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, and slow batter up next when it was 5-0?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 03:05 AM) Wow, overmatched much, AJ? Have I said how grateful I am that he was starting tonight?
-
It's too bad Torre wasn't messing around. I can't see how the guys we have scheduled to face him next inning will do any damage. We need to hold them this inning though.
-
Not scoring from 2nd base on a double off the right field fence is another horrible base running play.
-
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 03:02 AM) Torre isn't messing around Not to be cruel, but Torre was walking like a "special" person to the mound before.
-
Here comes Rivera. Unfortunately, we have a lot of lefties to face him, and he's much tougher against them than righties.
-
Holy cow! That PK play where he didn't score really hurts now.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) Someone from the sox needs to have a sit down with the Hawk and tell him to stop the constant complaining about the umps. Its very Santo like. Yep...it's becoming a daily thing. The worst thing is that some people then believe him that every single borderline pitch WAS a strike. If the umpires are being so bad, then Ozzie needs to get off of his ass and stick up for his players. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:56 AM) On vacation. Only checking in when I need a good laugh. There's been plenty of that of late. This place has made me seem optimistic lately. We miss the power of the blooper.
-
Does anyone know what happened to jphat?
-
That's the same pitch he popped up last night. Well done Tad!

Do we have the worst LF combo and worst CF combo in baseball? QUOTE(zenryan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:48 AM) it seems like we are the only team that doesnt touch him up. every other team he faces rips him He's been real good since the ASB.

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:46 AM) They had Villone on the ropes and AJ bails him out by swinging at crap. Cintron...what do you expect, this guy would not make half the rosters in the majors and would be the 25th man on the rest. They should both be fined for swinging at balls out of the strike zone. That's poor. Cintron would be on every single roster in the majors. I'd rather guys swing out of the zone than take called 3rd strikes down the plate.

QUOTE(soxyess @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:44 AM) Yea but last year we had great situational hitting Not in the 2nd half of the season. Don't forget that it also seemed like great situational hitting early in the year because every game was low scoring. Besides our pitchers doing great, our hitters were doing awful. Every run is going to seem more clutch/crucial when the game is 1-0 or 2-1 as compared to 7-5.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:41 AM) Joey Cora holds people when you should send them, and sends people when they should be held. They should just do the opposite of what he says and this team would score a bunch of runs. I think the base running errors have got these guys scared to death of making outs on the bases now.
-
QUOTE(soxyess @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) This is the second time in a week that we have had the bases loaded and no outs and failed to score a run. What a bunch of garbage. This is the very reason this team will NOT make the playoffs. Everyone trying to swing for the fence instead of just getting a hit. Our starting pitchers are the reason this team might not make the playoffs. I think people forget how bad our offense was last season.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) It's almost unbelievable that he didn't score. It just baffles me how inept we are in particular crucial areas of the game. It's almost amazing that we have the record that we do this season.
-
I know it won't matter, but there's no excuse for PK to not score from 2nd on that double off of the fence. Abreu turned around to watch that ball go off the fence. Once he does that, you should be on your way.
-
QUOTE(zenryan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) where are all the cheerleaders now??? I know its second guessing but I was really thinking that we should have hit Uribe for Cintron. Uribe has a much better chance of getting ahold of one while the best Cintron was going to do was draw a walk. Uribe's hurt.
-
QUOTE(rafacosta @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) From AJ to Ozuna...0-12! We don't have a f***ing LF...LF for us is no defense and offense.. Is this a surprise? Looking at this lineup tonight, if our middle of the order didn't produce, we weren't scoring.
-
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) great, the twins are winning too They won
-
Ha...pathetic! Brian Anderson continues to give this offense no real production.
-
I miss Juan Uribe, I really do.
-
What are you swinging at? Again, I'm so thrilled we got a back-up catcher that we're not going to play against lefties.
