Ha...pathetic! Brian Anderson continues to give this offense no real production.

I miss Juan Uribe, I really do.

What are you swinging at? Again, I'm so thrilled we got a back-up catcher that we're not going to play against lefties.

Keep the line moving. AJP has to avoid the roll-over DP here.

I thought that ball was gone. However, this is an example of how Ozzie didn't manage the top of the 7th very well. Garland should have never started that inning, and ARod should have been walked with the open base.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) I actually dont know if 20 games over .500 is a typical Sox year. Usually they are hanging 5-10 games below .500, turn it on in August, and then finish 7 games back at the end of the year. For me, prior to last year, a typical Sox year was the Sox running neck and neck with the Twins around now, but then the Twins just seem to win 6 times a week, and Santana doesn't lose a game the rest of the way.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) Not enough realism. Not enough really looking at this team and how is has played. Not enough recognition of the fundamental flaws in this team. There's more than enough posts in which the negative aspects of this team are discussed. If you want more realism, then more people would stop saying the season is over.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:20 AM) And many of these comments are not enough...if you know what I mean. Huh?

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) But why haven't they been tough since the ASB? And when are they going to start being tough? And will it be too late when that happens. I'm looking at these team's performances and their complete lack of fire and intensity and that doesn't leave me optimistic. If 2005 never happened, then everyone would be saying this is just another typical Sox year. Right now, we have no way of knowing what path this team will follow. I'm usually Mr. Pessimism, but some of these comments tonight are too much.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) I thought you were trying to make us feel better. Telling me my team might have overachieved last year and really isn't that good despite a $100 M payroll isn't going to make me feel better. First, it's a little easier to digest since we won the WS. If we would have lost in the WS, then it would have been a disasterous season if we don't make the playoffs. We're a very talented team who's playing above average this year. Last year, we were above average in terms of talent, but we played great. That type of situation happens in sports all the time.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) So that's supposed to cheer us up? You're essentially telling us we should be happy because we got lucky last year. That's loser talk. I would like to see KW's reaction after telling him to watch the 2005 DVD in the middle of this season. Actually, I'm saying that the expectations right now might be too high. This starting pitching staff is fatigued, and simply put, they're not throwing well. They can't put together a string of more than 2 good starts through the rotation. That's not going to get us in the playoffs. The Yanks, Twins, Red Sox are too good to let us play the way we have over the last 2 months and still make it. Sometimes, things all fall into place. Sometimes, they don't. I would like to ask Ozzie why he's giving up? If he thought we still had a chance, he would have walked ARod with the open base.

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 02:00 AM) I hope people will stop saying that Garland is our only good starting pitcher. I might be willing to consider that once his ERA gets under 4.50. It is over 5 now. He's not very good. He's certainly not reliable. I'd be happy to bet anyone that he will never see 4.50 this year. And please don't waste my time with by arguing his wins-and-losses. If you give any AAA pitcher the kind of run support Garland has gotten, he can win you this many games. Garland's ERA, WHIP, etc. tell you how bad he's been this season. Do we have a good, reliable starting pitcher this year? He was reliable for the last two months. For our starters this year, that's pretty damn good. Garland is facing a tremendous lineup tonight, and they capitalized on every bad pitch he made. I'm not going to give up on Garland yet. He showed me a lot of guts this year bouncing back from the terrible start.

QUOTE(zenryan @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:59 AM) yeah, feel better for about 10 minutes before realizing what could have been this season... What could have been? Why not appreciate how everything fell into place last year? This year, we're not creating/getting breaks, and we're having a lot of pitchers underachieve. I'm the last person to say that we should still live in 2005....but some people need a little perspective these days.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) every week i keep telling the little wife...i cant remember the last time it took so long for a no-no in the bigs... Yep, it's been a long time. I get nervous every time Zambrano is on the mound.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:57 AM) Big deal. It's a baseball game. You going to slit your wrists? Get some perspective. You know what a great remedy is...go watch the 2005 WS DVD. I GUARANTEE you'll feel better after watching PK's grand slam.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:55 AM) Yes, let's all just put our heads in the sand and admit we've got terrific starting pitching and we're playing very good baseball in our 10-16 stretch. Felix is a very positive, optimistic poster. There's no reason to try to start stuff with him after he said his peace.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:55 AM) People need to calm down. It's just 1 game. I'm going to scream if someone says that this was the most frustrating game of the season. I think I've seen that same post in every loss over the last month.

2 for 32. I love Ozuna's hustle from earlier in the year, but the magic is gone.

QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) I'm starting to get worried here About what, a no-hitter? If we're going to get shut-out, then maybe it might be the best for this team. Another righty hitter is a necessity for this team.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) Hate to break it to ya, but Tigers>everyone this year. They're not just catching some magical breaks. And the fact that you still think they are lucky in mid-August is sad. The Tigers are using a pathetic strategy this year: very good solid pitching, very good relief, good defense, smart base running, good fundamentals, and clutch hitting. Their luck is soon to run out if they keep playing that way.

QUOTE(champ @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:48 AM) Hate to say it, but Randy Johnson just may finish his no-no. Garland is s***ting his pants now after Gorman f***ed him over. Those damn umps. I hate when they mysteriously raise those offspeed pitches up in the zone.

Keep getting burned on your non-sinker Jon. Did you learn nothing from your success over the last two months, which was when you relied on your sinker.

QUOTE(rafacosta @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) Thome batting 3rd agst LH pitchers...makes me sick...Guillen should switch him and JD agst lefties. We need to find a righty hitter, because the current lineup we have to put on the field against tough lefties won't cut it. If anything, you find a righty LF, and then let Ozuna play 2B some games if you want to get Iguchi out against lefties.

QUOTE(champ @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) Uh...no they didn't. The Sox took advantage of the breaks that were given to them. That's why there was such a big deal. Game 3 of the World Series shouldn't even have gone to extra innings. Mike Lamb (I think), hit a ball off the wall, outside of the yellow line...it wasn't a homerun. Was there a big deal made about that? No... The Sox won, that's why the media made it look like everything went their way. Not everything did, and if you think it did, you didn't pay much attention to the games. We're not complaining about the umps we got, but if you think we didn't catch a ton of breaks from them, then you're going to be complaining about umpires screwing the Sox every game.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) They are 7-4 in their last 11. If you are sick from that.. well.. you take it WAY too seriously. Yeah, if they're sick now, I don't want to know what condition they were in 3 weeks ago. Keep up the effort to remain positive! I naturally don't post that way, but keep it going!
