QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 03:01 AM) Stick this in your mind. Anderson CAN NOT play 162 games. There will be games when he NEEDs to be replaced, and if we end up losing those games, so be it! And stop blaming every fishing thing on Ozzie. ROB MACKOWIAK IS NOT A CENTER FIELDER!!! How many more times does he have to mess up a play in CF before our manager figures this out? If Anderson needs a break, then KW needs to find a backup CF.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 03:00 AM) Would be nice, wouldn't it. At least Bobby has some marbles. The last pitcher to step up and really make a huge pitch was Riske at KC.

QUOTE(S720 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:58 AM) It's just so childish and absurd to see that every fishing move Ozzie makes is being fishing criticized! I think a lot of the goodwill he earned last year is wearing out with particular posters. And it's not just people on soxtalk going off on Ozzie. Every call on the post game show was criticizing him. I'd rather this team just start winning, and Ozzie fades back into being a non-subject.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:58 AM) Exactly. Some people are reaching for someone to b**** about. The 8th inning was just a clusterf***, but Ozzie doesn't deserve too much blame for the decision. One of these days, a Sox pitcher will shows some guts in a tough situation.

A lot of credit goes to Torre for the quick hook of his starter, and his use of the bullpen. He's actually an underrated manager, from what I've seen.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:55 AM) I turned the game on after the Yankees scored most of their runs (caught the bottom of the 3rd), but I don't see how Ozzie can be blamed for this. Well, Mackowiak flat out cost us a run in the first inning.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:54 AM) It wouldn't have been close at all. Pods did the smart thing by not even risking it. Yeah, he had no chance on that play. There's still no excuse for his lack of a throw home in the first inning.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) Having Thornton pitch to one of the most patient hitters in the game, bringing Cotts in in a non mop up spot, or Mack being in center, which gave the Yanks the run that is why they had a lead starting the 9th. Which move is the worst one by Ozzie tonight?? At usual, there are multiple candidates. It's almost the same exact way we lost to them in the first game after the ASB. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:53 AM) Farmer questioned why Pods didn't even make a throw into 2nd. I question why he's even in the majors.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:52 AM) If he scores, I bet we get 1 off of Rivera. I thought you were leaving? I have absolutely no problem with complaining, but maybe it's time to get a little perception.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:50 AM) Story of our/their lives. We blow another one, our opponents don't, and we fall behind, again. Good luck Sox, I'm heading out. I don't want to watch the 9th. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Cotts should only be used in mop-up duty now. He's going to give the Yanks an insurance run here. Coop's really done an amazing job with some of these guys this season.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:49 AM) Ortiz hits #41. 5-4 Royals. He's amazing.

The good news is that PK can't hit into a double play now.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:45 AM) Full count, and a weak popout. I still put most of the blame on the offense here. This whole team, outside of Garland, Dye, Thome, and Crede sucks right now.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:42 AM) Terrible cut by Gooch. About his 50th in the last week. Pathetic! I'm so freaking sick of our 1-2 hitters.

QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:40 AM) this so speaks the the story of why we've fallen so hard the 2nd half. If you're going to bring a guy in to face two batters(thorton) you cannot cannot cannot cannot walk one of them, especially with the lineup behind them And it's another example of why the Yanks adding Abreu to this lineup gives them a huge boost.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:39 AM) Seriously. The dude just looks lazy back there this year. I guess our game plan is just to throw ARod fastballs on the outside corner.

Thanks for taking out Myers!

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:37 AM) I still put this one on the offense. Bases loaded, no out, and we hit that DP. Scotty Pods being thrown out at 3. Two CS to end innings. Bad bad bad. Holding the vaunted Yankees offense to 5 is solid, and the offense just didn't hold their end of the bargin tonight. If they lose, this game is on the entire team. They could have broken the game wide open, but Mackowiak cost us a few runs on O and D, and PK had an awful AB.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) shockingly bad, when you think about it. Lots of talent, at least enough not to be playing this consistently bad for a month. We've gotten pounded in the last two months by any team that has above average talent. The way our starters are throwing this year, they're nothing more than paper champions.

Game Thread 8/8/06 Sox-Yanks
I'm stunned Ozzie brought in our worst reliever in such a tight spot. If you're going to bring a lefty in, you might as well let Thornton face ARod.

Game Thread 8/8/06 Sox-Yanks
Have we ever had an inning where we used 3 pitchers and didn't allow a run? These guys don't deserve to make the playoffs.

Unbelievable. This team is so bad.

This has all the makings of a walk.

Game Thread 8/8/06 Sox-Yanks
We bring in a high fastball hitter in a situation where they need a flyball. I'm not exactly optimistic.
-
Game Thread 8/8/06 Sox-Yanks
Seriously, we're making 0-2 situations for the opposition seem like 2-0 counts. MacDougal's fastball was about 3 mph slower today also....it's an epidemic.
