Sox @ Jays - 8/6
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) I said the same thing a few weeks ago. You really almost have to do the old "tip your cap" to the Tigers. It's too bad they're in our division. You really have to admire how they're winning this season. They're playing like the Indians did the last 1/3 of the season last year, but they've kept that up almost all year. You can tell they expect to win games, even if they're down at the end. They wanted to upgrade in LF, but Craig Monroe has been great for them now.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) This game has pissed me off more than any all year. Wow...I can name 20 other games off the top of my head which were more disturbing.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) Just today? At least he makes me look optimistic.

QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) I highly doubt that. The bullpen is not good, I dont see how half of you can manage to perform a miracle here. The bullpen isn't good? Well, since our starting pitching isn't very good, I don't know why they should even play then.

QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Your posts are funny to read, I'll give you that. Yeah, he's gone overboard today. Take a step back Tito....it will be ok!

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) It's okay guys, we went 6 for 9 on this roadtrip, against two of the worst teams and then the best offense. Oh wait, did I mention the Tigers swept? Who cares about the Tigers! This was a very good road series for us. If we can go over .500 during the next 2 weeks, we'll be in a good situation.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:19 PM) It's seriously getting to the point where I wouldn't mind a new manager in the offseason. Or maybe create a new position, Pitching Manager. Let Ozzie keep his job so people don't freak out BECAUSE HE WON TEH WORLD SERIES OMGZ! Enough is enough, we've lost an unbelievable amount of games because of bag managing. Now, I'm not saying we would have won all of these games, but Ozzie's bad managing has put so many of them completely out of reach. FWIW, we're not losing this game because of Ozzie. We're losing it because only our 3-4-5 showed up on offense, and Jose Contreras just isn't the same pitcher he was during his great stretch. Also, our outfield defense is running in concrete today, and theirs is making some very nice plays.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) How the gosh darn was this game Ozzie's fault? It's Ozzie's fault Iguchi doesn't have the range to get to that softly hit ball? It's Ozzie's fault Iguchi had a mental fart and didn't throw home? You're reaching at best, here. I was saying in general that Ozzie shows no urgency if we're losing. Catalanotto rarely faces lefties, and they don't have anyone dangerous on the bench to come up in that situation. I'd rather take my chances with Cotts against Cat instead of a tired Contreras against someone who always gives us problems. Please don't get me started though on our team speed/defensive range.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) why the hell can't we complete these sweeps, even with our best pitcher goin....SOAB Garland pitched in game 1 of this series. You can throw out the ERAs for all of our pitchers. Jon is clearly our best guy now.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) Just cant give away these chances to sweep. Last year, all we had to do was win the series, and everything would work itself out. Its not 2005. We have got to win more than we lose in the next 2 weeks, plain and simple.

Sox @ Jays - 8/6
One of my biggest complaints about Ozzie is he shows no urgency in the 7th or 8th inning of games when this team is losing. There have been so many times this year where we allow an insurance run in the 7th inning.
-
Sox @ Jays - 8/6
Pathetic baseball, pathetic managing. How many times will our pitchers allow a run in the 7th inning before Ozzie realizes that the starting pitching getting the win isn't important? I'm very disappointed in our outfield defense today.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Strike out looking, get picked off, and let the ball hit like a brick off of what he calls a glove He hits the cut-off man nicely on his throws to the plate.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:04 PM) Hawk's really butchering some names today For as good as Hawk/DJ have been recently, they've been real bad today. Hawk's been slupring this team more than usual today (Cooper, Pods).

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Great inning offense, way to work him The Jays might try to get 2 innings out of Ryan. They're pretty desperate for a win.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) Did Shoenweiss ever have a 1-2-3 inning when he was with the Sox? Of course, he never had a one pitch at bat form Scott Pods to make it easier. Pods makes me ill. I got a laugh out of DJ saying how our first two batters hit the ball hard this inning.

Sox @ Jays - 8/6
That's a great baseball player. I can't believe someone would think he's underrated.
-
Sox @ Jays - 8/6
Lets hope we can get a few runs and win this. It would be very disappointing to lose a game where the Blue Jays only had one strong inning, and we left numerous guys on base.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) Manuel needs to stop messing up our Sunday games. Oh wait, he is gone. I don't blame Ozzie so far for this result. I will say that we need to keep Uribe on the field. I can't see how benching him is going to improve the mental funk he's in throwing the ball.

We're going to see Schoeneweis next inning.

Sox @ Jays - 8/6
So far, outfield range has decided this game. Rios showed a lot of speed preventing Cintron from a likely triple.
-
Sox @ Jays - 8/6
I don't get it. Burnett throws hard, and Molina throws well.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) Right hander comes up, the Count becomes a side armer. And he cant control it as well, he is leaving it up also. He's left more hittable pitches out over the plate for righties today than he did in every start before he got injured. I thought it was interesting that righties are hitting him better than lefties this season.

For anyone who saw the replay....could Dye have caught the double by Rios down the line?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Keep pulling it AJ. The last week you have been hot with spraying the ball all over, today for whatever reason you are thinking right side only. It's been amazing to see the pitch recognition by Thome, PK, and Dye this wknd. For the others...not so much.
