7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) There is something new wrong with this team in every game. If it's not the hitting, it's the pitching. If it's not the pitching, it's the fundamentals, or the defense, or the managing, or the situational hitting. There's just something in every game, and they never all click at once. And it makes you wonder if it's just not meant to be this season.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) our team needs mojo... our team needs a win a lot more. Losing this game would be a TERRIBLE lose, especially after last night.

Russ Ortiz has sadly kept the Orioles in this game.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:32 PM) there goes all our mojo though... win this 11-4 and we're happy, win 11-9... not so much Screw mojo...get the win.

Outfield Defense
In games that Anderson's on the bench, we have the worst outfield defense in baseball. Even with Anderson in the field, we have the worst throwing defense in baseball. Our LF should be a DH in A ball.

Ok! Could have been much worse. Good job MacDougal.

Wild pitches are a staple of MacDougal's. Terrible effort by AJP though.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) They did not go up and under Gibbon's hands once in that at bat. I do not understand that pitch calling. Nope, it scared the crap out of me. They were begging for him to just hit a rocket the opposite way (he has a lot of power that way). Cotts rarely throws inside to lefties though, as his control still isn't precise.

Conine's going to be looking dead red on the first pitch.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Cotts lose velocity, too? Has every single one of our pitchers from last year lost a few mph? It happens when you have a very long run in the playoffs, and you have a core group of guys who pitched a lot during the season.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) If he threw a slider on the outside corner, he'd K him. Gibbons is close to squaring up the heater. Well, he tried, but it was just a bad pitch.

Gotta get Gibbons here. Like J. Jones, he can drive a Cotts fastball out over the plate right into the LF seats. Make a good pitch Neal!

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) Maybe Cotts and McCarthy should start pitching better. Of course they should. Like you said, Cotts has been really bad recently. He's fallen in love against with his high fastball, and when your velocity is down a few mph, it's a lot more hittable.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) Now they are in trouble. Cotts has been awful. Would it have been that difficult to just go Thornton/MacDougal/Jenks to hopefully end this game? He has got to try to get the hitters off-balanced.
-
7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles
We just can't get them out right now. Why is MacDougal warming up if we're not bringing him in?
-
7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles
Oh boy...here we go again. Whenever Cotts wants to learn another pitch besides his fastball, it will be fine with me.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:15 PM) Podsednik is not 100%, not anywhere close to it, and I wish the White Sox would fess up about it. He is hurting as much as helping. Put him on the 15 day DL and get Brady Clark in here before the deadline. Are we sure it's an injury, or just he's lost two steps? I have my theories about it, but I definitely agree he is hurting this team right now.

Pods with one of the worst games I've seen from an individual in a long time. I honestly think Gload and Mackowiak are faster than he is.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:13 PM) Wow. That wasn't even fishing close. I mean, that looked like a Uribe SB attempt. Or a PK attempt. He literally wasn't in the pitcher when the guy caught the ball at 2nd.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) It was a hit and run reviewing the tivo. He wouldnt of got back anyway. Gotcha...that's fine then. I like the call by Ozzie. Are you serious Pods? Can we please just bench him. Put Mackowiak in for defensive reasons.

QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) I don't think I've seen a World Series Champions trophy during Manuel's era. We weren't arguing that though. Ozzie did a great job motivating the team all season. When you have guys have amazing years like Cotts, Politte, and Hermanson, it's a lot easier to manage your team combined with the starting pitching we received.

Great catch by Patterson there. Uribe shouldn't be getting doubled off though with no outs.

QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) And that's one of the reasons why he won Manager Of The Year in 2005. Didn't Jerry Manuel win Manager of the Year?

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) on gameday it shows the ball on the wall, how close was it.....mlb extra innings aint giving me love today Very close. Hernandez thought it was gone, fathom thought it was gone, and the way Anderson sprinted back at first, I think he thought it was gone.
