  1. There's one real good pitch. Mora's actually a pretty big out in this game for Garland here.
  2. Garland needs to make some good pitchers here, or this game is going to get close again.
  3. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:09 PM) is he pitching inside at all? Yes, he has been. The Orioles have had good swings against him. He hasn't thrown a good changeup all game.
  4. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) can someone summarize how bad garland has looked for me He's not fooling anyone.
  5. Check out the new thread on the board. The one about Anderson/Ortiz. It's amazing, simply amazing. Ortiz is a good hitter. They should use him as a righty off of the bench.
  6. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) LOL @ Ortiz. Didnt we almost trade for him? Yes, it was close. Gammons thought it was a done deal. Thankfully, Damian Moss was offered, and two terrible pitchers were exchanged.
  7. 8 straight batters have reached against Ortiz, and 12 of the last 14 guys he's faced have reached.
  8. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) Yes I think so ... the guy they picked high and didn't sign. Townsend, right? I think so, if it's not, I'll let you know.
  9. Dye welcomes Ortiz. Nice to get that run back.
  10. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Wow, Russ Ortiz is worse than Cliff Politte. Ahaha. I thought you were leaving?
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) No then it wasn't him. There was some guy they screwed up on, can't say his name. And there is the Gold Glove defense from Gload you were asking about. Was it one of those Rice pitchers? Maybe Townsend?
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) I love what Jermaine Dye has been doing with the bat... but man whenevr I watch he looks sooo slow in the OF. I know he has had a lot of injuries but he still looks fast or above avg. on the base paths.... I feel guilty complaining about it (probably sounds funny coming from me), but Dye's defense is real bad. He has no range out there, and his arm has been very disappointing since he's been with the Sox. Something that's been hurting him recently is he's not charging the ball well at all. It's making it very easy for teams to run at will on him.
  13. Mercy...great play by Gload. Garland saved by his defense that inning.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Notice Jon is going in on right handers. This is what he did last year in the first half to make him so successful. Pound them in, back them up, and let the sinker run. And he left that pitch over the heart of the plate.
  15. Take off the concrete shoes Jermaine.
  16. Jim...another excellent observation by Hawk today.
  17. Excellent play by Crede!
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:47 PM) I dont think I ever want to see Podsenick an a RBI situation unless we are facing the astros... The poor Astros...they probably think of him the way we do Sweeney.
  19. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) They drafted a guy in the first round, I think it was last year, and didn't even get him signed. Adam Loewen I want to say. That's just wasting opportunities and good organizations don't do that. With Boston and NYY and Toronto in that division, they can't make many personnel mistakes. They signed Loewen. He's made some starts in the majors this year.
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Harrelson called it on the 3-1 pitch, he said "Here it comes #15". Iguchi really smoked that one. He's been hitting the ball very hard to the opposite field lately. For as much as some of us complain about our hitters approach recently, that inning had a lot of fantastic ABs (besides Pods, of course). Hawk always talks about going to the plate with the mindset that the pitcher is in trouble. Honestly, the only one who's seemed defeated at the plate so far was Pods. Everyone else waited for their pitch.
  21. Get us back in the dugout Garland, and let us continue to circle the bases.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) I still have nightmares of that game in Arizona where we had a rally in the 9th and for the 3rd out, Jiminez was tagged out at 2nd, trying to advance on a play he never should have. He might have had the worst instincts on the bases I've ever seen.
  23. YES!!! Huge runs there, as we capitalize on this awful pitcher.
  24. If he walks here, will we see Thome vs Ortiz with bases loaded again?
  25. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) how quickly we forget Royce Clayton and D'Angelo Jimenez Jimenez wasn't a bad hitter at all. Come on, he had a great walkoff single against the Cubs. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Pods is really making his presence felt today. He's the only reason the Orioles have a chance in this game.
