Official Game Thread 7/7 - Sawx vs Sox 7:35

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) Hey leave him alone. He's an all star pitcher. I'm sure that gave the Red Sox more motivation to light him up, as Schilling was definitely more deserving. -
Official Game Thread 7/7 - Sawx vs Sox 7:35

Well, our starters continue to suck. I love Widger behind the plate!!!! -
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:52 AM) and why do you say that with such confidence? Ozzie would have to be out of any other options before he'd call Tracey back up. I'm not getting into more detail about this, but I'd be stunned if Tracey's a member of this organization after this year.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:40 AM) There is a difference, perhaps too subtle for you to comprehend, between not wanting Politte anymore on the team -- and nobody can possibly want him to remain -- and saying, "He's trash" over and over and over, and ridiculing the end of his career. I'm not going to work myself up over it, and I'm going to bow out now, thanks. I just wanted to say that those of you laughing at Cliff's failures and screeching not for him to bow out of the game, to be cut from the team, but having all the fun in the world and directing all your misguided anger toward him should be ashamed. But, hey, he's garbage, and worthless now, right? So it's okay to be cruel instead of insensitive. Mrs. Politte, shouldn't you be looking at real estate in the Cincinnati area? I don't think any of us are happy that it's come to this with Cliff.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:30 AM) Give me Montero, Give me Tracey, Give me Farnsworth... at this point I will take almost anyone on the farm over Cliff. Thanks for the memories Cliff. I can confidently say that Tracey's not an option.

QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:35 AM) Alright if you want to go that way, who's lost games to KC? Don't you have something better to do than be on the White Sox message board on a night your team's not even playing? I know the mods on this site have allowed you to continue posting, but I thought that was only if you were actually contributing to the site, and not trying to stir up s***.

Yep, I wanted to say kudos to everyone out there who voted for AJP. Great job guys!!!
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) And you shouldn't have lost two of three to that s***ty Oakland team, but you did. Yep, next time I need advice about how to feel after a Bears victory, I'll make sure to ask a Packers fan.
-
QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:19 AM) Doing it with 2 outs to start with is amazing to me. Yeah, giving up 3 straight hits is absolutely amazing.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:18 AM) Look, I realize how inconsistant relief pitchers can be, but I've never seen anything like this before in my life. Cliff Politte makes Shingo, Koch, Biddle or any other former Sox scrub you can think of look like a legitimate all-star. How does one fall this hard in one year? Maybe we should be asking how was he so good last year with similar velocity, etc.? I know he had great command last season, but the stat about him being the luckiest pitcher last season seems very prophetic.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:16 AM) I don't think we have to celebrate Cliff's downfall. I don't want him on this team anymore. He is a broken pitcher. But I don't take pleasure in ridiculing the poor man. He did a lot, and he's tried this year. Forgive me, but I understand that he's done all he can do -- sad though that is -- and am not going to blast him away. It's not like he was a player with a bad attitude in our clubhouse. Great post.

QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:13 AM) Politte did look good in the 8th. He had some improved velocity on his fastball (I saw 93 once) with some rise too. From what I saw, there was a very deep fly ball caught at the track (Hernandez had a meat ball to crush) and Uribe made a very good play to get another out. Politte is awful!
-
QUOTE(tigerfan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:13 AM) I know, but I'd be more relieved then anything really. Thanks, I'll make sure to keep asking you how I should feel regarding a Sox game.
-
We can only hope we don't see him again. I love what he did for us last year, but he's just pathetic this season.
-
Great control by Thornton. There's sometimes where you'd want no one else up but Corey Patterson.
-
And the tying run comes up to plate. I can't believe this s*** this inning. QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 03:07 AM) Once Politte is released, do you guys realize how many teams will compete to pick him up? I know he is not doing well right now, but I got a hunch he will turn it around, perhaps after the Allstar break. Let him be another team's worry.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 02:43 AM) Maybe, just maybe, an outing like this will help him between the ears. MAAAYYYBE. The sooner he's off this team, the better. He has nothing this year.
-
How f***ing long are you going to keep Politte in? This is absolutely ridiculous. As soon as Tejada had that double, Politte should have been pulled.
-
Impressive heaters from Cotts.
-
Ugh...Riske doesn't look very sharp. Not sure why Millar's getting 88mph fastballs he can crush.
-
QUOTE(S720 @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) Hindsight is always great, man! I would have typed it here before the fact, but the 20 staples in my abdomen make it hard to move.
-
Not sure how he got those fastballs passed him, but I'll take it.
-
That would have been a good time to bring in Cotts/Thornton to face Patterson. It's not like the Orioles have a lot of lefties we need to save them for.
-
I hated the call by Cora, but Crede still needs to have a better slide. Against a s***ty pitcher like Ortiz, there's no point in giving up outs at the plate w/less than 2 outs.
-
Vazquez needs to get us back in the dugout w/the 5-3 lead.
