  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) How has our pitching gotten so much worse in one offseason? Overuse last season (understandable). Ozzie's also been managing our starters like they were as effective as they were last year, even though they're not. I shudder to think about how bad our pitching would be without Jenks being so freaking good this year.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) I don't even pay attention to that crap. The Tigers have been the best team in baseball to this point. They're here to stay. It's amazing how much they resemble us from last season so far.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) It would be nice to play a team and have 5 runs scored enough to win. Fixed
  4. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) crede pisses me off when he swings like that. he did the same s*** yesterday when he hit into the dp. You have to take the good with the bad with his protect swing. His K numbers are way down, but he still makes it too easy to get him out on anything other than a fastball with 2 strikes. No real complaints from me about Crede's overall offensive game. I'd be thrilled if we traded Fields and McCarthy and Tracey for someone like Crawford. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) I highly disagree. Let me just say I have a lot more information than you do on this.
  5. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) Garland is due to pitch again a week from Tuesday and only threw 95 pitches the other night. I bet he is in the pen tomorrow and next Friday as well. Send McCarthy to AAA for a week to make a start or two and get some work in. Bring up a real good defensive outfielder or Tracey for the pen. I repeat, Sean Tracey is likely not an option ever again for the White Sox. Just trust me on this....as long as Ozzie is our manager, we won't be seeing him.
  6. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) What do I care about his optimism? Even pessimists can make good points...although, not often! Jesus Christ, fathom. "We need to make some trades, get new pitchers LOLOLOLZ!!!!" "Our pitching can't win in the playoffs!" None of that is "Let's blow this team up" in different words? And don't give me such garbage about me telling someone to jump off the bridge. Anyone with a basic understanding of American catchphrases would've understood that I didn't mean that literally. English is your first language, right? But, why don't you tell me -- where do you get a flying f*** to give? Is that something you pick up in an airplane, or something? Thanks for your contributions to discussing actual baseball. I love people a decade younger than myself trying to talk like a smartass to me. I'm done with this conversation with you.
  7. Ugh...I hate Crede's protect swing in that situation.
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) Wouldn't today be Garland's normal day to throw between starts? He's getting some work in. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) I'm not so sure that's a good thing. Probably means B-Mac has some sort of emergency and has to leave the game, don't you think? Nope, Ozzie said he might use a starter out of the bullpen this wknd.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) I'm just saying that those of you who want to jump off a bridge in tears because our pitching doesn't pitch like Roger Clemens at his best every single night are so melodramatic. Yep, way to go from one extreme to another. We're not demanding 1.50 ERAs from our starting pitchers.
  11. Garland in the bullpen? Maybe it's just me, but I think that's unnecessary. Not only that, but he looked rather uncomfortable out there. We need to get rid of Politte ASAP, and get another righty up that we can pitch in close games.
  12. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Nobody is jumping off a bridge. But I'm not being a blind homer, either. How can one not be concerned with Freddy Garcia right now? Now, I agree that saying s*** like "he sucks" or "trade him for a bag of popcorn" is going overboard. I wonder if he knows you're usually one of the more optimistic posters.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) What are you talking about? He's prophesizing doom over the rotation. All I'm saying is, if he feels the need to blow the team up and trash the pitching and talk about how poor our rotation is, he can feel free to hop off that bridge but I'm not joining him there. Telling anyone to hop off a bridge, even when kidding around, is just stupid. I'm sure he doesn't give a flying f*** what you think about the rotation. No one in this thread has said to blow the team up, besides your misguided attempt at humor.
  14. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Not true. Umm....yes it is
  15. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Fine, go jump off the bridge because of the rotation. Man, someone got to you today. I know it's ironic to hear this from me, but calm down.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) We're losing again. Pods with a sissy girl throw, and Riske I guess is really bad in close games. It's amazing how deep Pods plays.
  17. Riske pitched like a pussy to Cora, and it cost us. Francona is managing a great game so far.
  18. Riske really nibbled to Cora there. Not what you want to see against the 9 hitter.
  19. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Definitely..and name a 4 man rotation that you would rather have going in to the playoffs? Santana, Liriano, Radke, whoever Zito, Haren, Harden, Blanton
  20. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) How are you not? What has he done to make us believe otherwise? McCarthy grew up a starter, and it's hard to convert. And don't give me that "Cotts did it" crap, because, yes, it can happen, but its VERY hard. And as a filler for the bullpen, we could trade some prospects to the Cubs for one of their good relievers. Maybe Hermanson will come back strong? I don't know. From the day it was announced, I argued that McCarthy's pitch repetoire wasn't suited for the bullpen. He's unable to keep a good feel for his offspeed stuff out of the bullpen.
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) If someone showed you what the White Sox offensive numbers would be at the All Star break back before the season started, what kind of odds would you have given that the Tigers wouldn't have a 2 game lead over them? It's funny, but I thought THE SAME FREAKING THING after Thome hit that homer.
  22. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:14 PM) Jim Thome .300 30 HR 76 RBI I think we would have been happy if we got that out of him in a full season. It's July 8th. Well said
  23. Great job by Pods! Boy, these hitters/pitchers are making this park seem real small today.
  24. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) And what the hell are we gonna get back from the Mets that could help us? Lastings Milledge
  25. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) I still don't feel too bad going into the playoffs with a 1-2-3 of Count, Buehrle and Garland. I feel at least Jon can come back this year. All that matters is getting to the playoffs. From there, anything can happen.
