  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) Maybe you can tell me what's wrong with this board. Really, these trade suggestions have been nuts. Is it because the schools are out? Or is it my fault again? I had to delete my post in that Prior/Woody thread because it was just too mean. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:41 PM) Well the one thing we can say is the White Sox don't quit. Especially on Sundays.
  2. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) Right. You are exactly right. Their hitters have had a great approach the whole series. It's the same reason we always struggled with the A's. Their hitters wouldn't just give up easy outs like some of ours (Uribe, etc.). They would always make our pitchers work.
  3. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) 12 games out of the WC does not quantify as still being "in it" IMO Don't worry, every publication will make it sound like they're in a better position than we are.
  4. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:33 PM) At the start of this series, I wanted to give the edge to our lineup, but their hitters have a much better approach to hitting. Boston looks to be superior to us in all aspects. It's hard to tell, as they're playing very well right now. However, I would definitely suggest that their hitters are tougher outs than ours.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) If we lose this one, it's going to really suck. This loss could be terrible to go into the break having been swept by a playoff team at home when you had a chance to come back in the last game to salvage something. Same thing happened last year. That's the only saving grace I can see. It's just amazing how every button Francona's pushed this series has worked out.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) I said it in a thread somewhere a day ago. Don't forget the Cubs winning 3 in a row, thus leading to the inevitable "they're still in it" columns.
  7. Sorry, I thought Thornton had allowed a run yesterday.
  8. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) I think Fathom already said it, but it is indeed scary how similiar this series has been to the series against the A's last year.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) f***ing dumb. And puss armed Pods provides nothing except for another runner getting into scoring position. Is Pods playing Loretta on the warning track? He should have had an easy play at the plate. If Vazquez allows a run this inning, every pitcher on our team will have allowed a run this series.
  10. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) We're not a very good extra innings team. Cause every f***ing player swings for the fences. Loretta should exactly the type of swing you need in that situation.
  11. That sucks. We didn't challenge Youkilis when we had to. Boston's aggressiveness on the bases won them this game. Please never pitch Jenks for that many pitches again.
  12. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) Iguchi requested to be moved down. Um, no he didn't. And even if he did, wouldn't that show you he's not comfortable swinging trying to protect all the time?
  13. Our pitchers didn't get the memo that Lowell is a great fastball hitter.
  14. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) Oh, because Pods hasn't been batting and stealing ahead of Iguchi for the last year and a half, right? Actually, it's extremely obvious. Iguchi never swings quite as well with Pods in motion. I think it's one of the reasons they wanted to move Iguchi down in the order.
  15. Isn't it amazing though how effective a team can be when they try to prevent the other team from stealing?
  16. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) A bit off topic, but am I the only one who has a problem with Closers winning a Cy Young award? Nah...if they win it, they likely had an amazing season.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:03 PM) I think we have to win this game now. A win would be so huge, but a loss would be devastating, IMO. Remember the last game before the ASB last year, with Timo getting a huge hit off of Street?
  18. QUOTE(shawnhillegas @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 09:00 PM) this kid is not eric gagne Yeah...he's not a blatant steroid user.
  19. I don't think Thome has a hit off of a closer all season.
  20. Were Jenks and Vazquez the only pitchers on our roster to not allow runs this wknd? QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) we had our chance a few innings ago with konerko and dye hitting with a man on third. That was the chance. Now we are screwed. By the way I am sure someone has these stats but Paulie seems to be in a little slump, at least to my eye, especially with runners on. Just in the last two series and especially this series. You're preaching to the choir about PK's swings lately. The bat speed is lacking.
  21. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) Pods has to be one of the worst fielding outfielders I have seen. For a guy who is fast he gets the worst jumps on balls and quite frankly when he is in the field he runs like a girl. He is on a short leash. if the guy cannot steal 50-60 bases he is quite useless. We don't need stolen bases on this team.
  22. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 9, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) I wonder if they'll send Javy out, THEN Papelbon. But Francona isn't a Larussa, is he? Nope....Francona won't pull an Ozzie, and dick around with his closer.
