  1. BTW...our 8-9 hitters were 1-19 in the last 3 games.
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) I just want to know what happened after the 11-0 win? Did Cleveland sack up or did we somehow turn comatose? Welcome back to the pennant race, Tribe assholes. Did people really expect the Indians to be a .500 team all season? They've had a lot of injuries to their entire pitching staff, and they've got their guys back healthy. Their hitting is AWESOME, especially if Broussard and Blake keep it up.
  3. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:22 AM) Several guys at Charlotte have pitched OK. I don't understand why they don't give Phillips or Lopez or Tracey a chance. The hitting in AAA this season is AWFUL. Most of the team ERAs are in the 3 to 3.5 range. Don't get fooled by the ERAs you're seeing from these guys.
  4. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:13 AM) Well, at least we're going home now. All we can do tonight is hope that Mariano Rivera can close it out against Detroit. He's unavailable tonight.
  5. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:11 AM) I really think where they miscalculated was thinking McCarthy could fill Hermanson's role. He may yet but it's not been promising thus far. Exactly...our biggest problem is the lack of a righty set-up man. I know people are going to be jumping off bridges tonight, but I think we should be thrilled with where we are in the standings, considering the way the season has gone so far.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:08 AM) Perhaps our pitching isn't as amazing as everyone made it out to be during the pre-season. Which is why people should really appreciate the way they performed last season.
  7. QUOTE(S720 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:05 AM) Everyone in this site knows that you always blame everything on Ozzie. It goes back to last year. If McCarthy can not handle the heat, then he has no business being on the team. He really STINKS so far! I think I've only really blamed Ozzie for one loss this season. I have no problem criticizing him, but in the end, it's up to the players to win or lose the game. With the mojo this team has, or lacks, right now, we just don't have a chance against a team with momentum like the Indians.
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:03 AM) Not a chance in the world. Yep, he's pretty much untouchable. They'd be more likely to trade Donnelly....but I don't think the Angels will conceed anything.
  9. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 02:02 AM) if the scrubs keep playing the way they have, how bout scott williamson? He might be one of the most realistic possibilities. I think Roberto Hernandez could be a possibility.
  10. Look at the three relievers the Tigers have used tonight. If you add up their ERAs, it would still almost be our best reliever.
  11. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:58 AM) another starter who did OK in the pen: Gagne. There's a huge difference with some of these closers mentioned. These were guys who were permanently moved to the bullpen either due to injury or lack of pitches. Don't forget that we've already yo-yo'd McCarthy this season, as we had to shift him from reliever to start back to reliever. In the end, it doesn't matter really.....this bullpen is atrocious, and he's just another one of the culprits.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:56 AM) Buerhle, Cotts, Smoltz, Eck . . . Those are all totally different situations. The Phillies did that with Ryan Madson, and I'm pretty sure he's getting rocked now.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:54 AM) Right. You know better than our staff. Forgot about that. Um....he said it himself already this season. Don't worry, it was only a direct statement. Trust me, I'm not making excuses from him. His pitches have been up in the zone seemingly the entire year, minus the first 2 weeks of the season.
  14. How many first pitch fastballs are we going to throw him? That's just pathetic.
  15. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:52 AM) Yah, who the hell puts a starting prospect in the bullpen!!!! Nobody does that s***!!!! When the kid says he doesn't feel comfortable in the pen because he can't get a feel for his offspeed pitches, and he's not a flame thrower....maybe he's not a good fit for the bullpen.
  16. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:51 AM) 6-5 Yankees through 7. Thank you, New York. There's not a doubt in my mind that the Indians are going to be as big, if not a bigger, a threat as the Tigers come the end of the season.
  17. QUOTE(S720 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:48 AM) Fathom, you the one who wanted BMAC in. You got your wish. Go ahead and keep on blaming it on Ozzie! Like I've stated, our pitchers ARE NOT DOING WELL right now. Will there be anyone who will point your finger at Cooper? It seems like when our pitchers are doing well, everyone jumps on Cooper's bandwagen. What happens if they are not doing well? When the f*** did I blame Ozzie for what happened to McCarthy? I wanted McCarthy to start the 6th inning, as I think he's a hell of a lot more comfortable starting the inning instead of coming in with people on base. It's truly disappointing to see what we've made McCarthy into this season.
  18. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:45 AM) It wasn't Catalanotto, it was a much s***tier DH-only guy who I don't think is playing baseball any more. It was Phelps. Man...our bottom of the order is AMAZING!!!!
  19. QUOTE(Sox It To Em @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) I'm not giving up on the season, but clearly this team is suffering from major flaws that need to be addressed. Sometimes, you just have to win with what you have. We keep clamoring for an instant fix....but unless we're going to trade for 4 new relievers, a new SS, and a CF....we're still not going to have a great all-around team.
  20. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) :rolly Who else in the league has a change up like Santana? The McCarthy-Belliard at-bat reminded me of Cotts-Cattalonatto at-bat back in 2004 in the Sky Dome. Don't you mean Cotts vs Phelps?
  21. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) And I'm REALLY f***ing sick of Hawk/DJ talking about "not speeding up bats" when hitters can't catch up to a fastball. Santana sure doesn't care about that logic. Considering McCarthy's changeup, he needs to throw it. If a hitter continues to foul off a fastball, they're eventually going to catch up. You need another pitch thrown it. It makes little sense when they bring it up. McCarthy just can't grip the changeup with a s*** as of now. He's not a reliever, and it already feels like we've retarded his growth this season.
  22. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:40 AM) They're what? 1 game behind last year's pace? I'm getting pissed off too, but at least we're not the Royals. You better believe Ozzie is going to rip to the media tonight. We suck right now, and have some glaring holes. However, I'm amazed that some people are giving up on the season already.
  23. McCarthy's going to get the most blame, but Thornton really was pathetic tonight also. Isn't it amazing how many rallies you can have when you get contributions from the bottom of the order?
  24. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) KW made me sick last winter trading bullpen guys and not getting replacements, and counting on Cotts and Politte to match or come close to last season's performances. And believing Hermanson when he said he'd be healthy.
  25. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 2, 2006 -> 01:37 AM) LOL. Trust me when I say I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
