  1. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) He wasn't a very good CF in Milwaukee, and didn't look very good in CF the couple games he played there last year. Keep him in LF. Don't forget he injured himself in one of those rare chances in CF.
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) I haven't seen it. I thought you couldn't see the game? I was referring to the last week or so.
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:42 PM) We can't get a hit with a runner in scoring position to save our lives. Overswinging? From what I've seen, a lot of hitters are trying to hit 3 run homers instead of just moving the base runners up a few spots.
  4. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:41 PM) Cleveland announcers just mentioned that Podsednik has told Ozzie he'd move to CF if need be. And I just felt my dinner start to come up. It feels like the wheels on the bus are falling off, and there's not much that can be done to fix it right now. This wknd is going to be home run derby at the Cell....we better hope our guys come to hit.
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:40 PM) Yes it's just you, being pessimistic as all hell. :headshake
  6. Small ball is not necessary in the 2nd inning against a great hitting team like the Indians.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:37 PM) WOW. What else can you say? What happened?
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:33 PM) Yah. I've never understood that. Just because they are losing and not getting hits with RISP the don't care all of a sudden? I just don't buy that stuff at all. If there's one thing I'm not worried about with the Sox, it's them just not showing up for games and going through the motions. Slumps happen....and you could see this one brewing a mile away.
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:29 PM) Contreras looks like he isn't comfortable physically. He's not dropping down. Maybe his back is bothering him. I had a bad feeling about his performance once I saw the mention of the unexplained velocity dip last start. I'm not sure if it's physical or mental, but Contreras is missing something right now.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) I wouldn't mind a walk here. This guy kills the Sox. In my opinion, he's the toughest out in the American League.
  11. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) Jose went 2-0 on every hitter thus far in the first other than Sizemore Is he missing with his fastball?
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) And he swipes 2nd, ugh If our pitchers are going to totally disregard holding the runners, we really should use the pitch-out more.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) f***in hell, dreaded leadoff walk = easy steal of second
  14. Got one run, but you hope for two in that situation. It would be nice of Contreras to shut down the Indians early in this game, and let our team try to build a solid lead.
  15. I take it neither Iguchi or Thome's deep hit to center were close to going out?
  16. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) your always worried... about everything. I never said that I don't. The sad thing is that I'm not even close to being the most pessimistic person on this board these days. I honestly think some people expected the Sox to go 162-0.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) The Sox already have a slick-fielding weak-hitting SS. I rather have the guy with the better arm, who has more power. Unless Izturis is considered a back-up at all infield positions, maybe taking Cintron's place for the better defense. I'm worried we'd give up an awful lot for Izturis.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) Can't hold leads We've had problems holding leads all season.
  19. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) i agree do you know who we can all this blame this on....The Count's Agent, for dicking around both him and the sox. If he would've signed the deal before Garland, Garland's ass would've been long gone. Well, I'm not going to be Mr. Pessimist, and say that at least we have Contreras signed for 3 more years. As long as he can stay healthy, we'll have a lot of success with him on the mound.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) We faced Jose Contreras? I'm pretty sure C.C. has been the best pitcher in baseball since he came off the DL.
  21. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) I seriously think the lack of use and lack of a "role" has been whats killing McCarthy. He's better suited for the starting spot, especially with his "feel" pitches (changeup and curve). It was one of the main reasons the Sox should have looked to trade Garland this offseason.
  22. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) When I say shut out I am generalizing. Not literally, but you get the idea: we either rack 'em up or we're dismal. Think of it: two nights ago we were up 3-0 and they scored four runs. That was enough to beat us. Shutout, schmutout, you get the idea. How dare we score 3 runs against the hottest pitcher in baseball.
  23. QUOTE(beautox @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) Truthfully i think having a lack of a Complete CF is killing us, Mackowiak got hot with his bat, but sucks in CF, and Anderson is amazing with the Glove but is out matched at the plate at this moment its a catch 22(and not the ska band). I couldn't agree more with this paragraph. Even though our relief is weak, we still can win a lot of games with Jenks, Cotts, Thornton, and McCarthy being solid pitchers. However, the CF has to be out there every game, and it's just a terrible position for us right now. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) But the fields, owens, rogowskis, haegers etc etc etc all qualify. Only Fields has real trade value out of that group of guys. Fields, Broadway, and Sweeney are our main 3 minor leaguers right now.
  24. From everything I've been told within the Tampa organization, Crawford's not going anywhere. Ideally, they want him in LF, Rocco in CF, and Delmon in RF....with Gomes at DH. Gathright is the most likely guy to get traded....but he's awful. Crawford, in my opinion, isn't a very likely option to get traded to the Sox.
  25. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Outrageous statement which may be true: If Chris Young had played thus far in the season in place of Brian Anderson, he would be struggling just as bad, if not worse. Young is better offensively than Anderson, but Anderson is better defensively. There's no doubt in my mind that Young would put up better offensive numbers in the majors if he got the ABs that Anderson has so far.
