The Andruw Jones Thread
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) He's a free agent after next year and will likely test the market for his final contract. He's not worth Anderson and McCarthy. I didn't know he only had one year left. Of course, I wouldn't do that deal then.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) I blame Ozzie, how many of us saw this coming? As a manager u have to know what your players are capable of and not capable of, Ozzie did another terrible job today letting Vazquez even start the 6th inning.... fishin unreal... The worst thing to happen to this team this season was the Vazquez trade.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:37 PM) He won't go inside on lefthanded hitters either. He has a young hitter up there in Fahey with two strikes and he throws one out over the outer half. It's what we talked about yesterday. He really needs to learn another pitch, if not two more pitches. I still think starting the inning would do wonders for him.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Just humorous just how much like clockwork it is. 6th inning he implodes. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me, fool me three times? ....punch someone in the face?

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) How about some blame for some poor defence. Every game in this series the starting pitcher has had to get 4 outs in an inning. What was wrong with the defense that inning?

Our bottom of the order looks really tough today.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) Who knows how many runs Javy gives up if he's left in there, you can't leave him in to get killed, he has a history of completely imploding in the 6th, he should have been pulled before immediately following the HR. There's no way anyone can say it hasn't become a mental issue with him now. It's been almost the exact same situation the last three starts, and the same thing has happened.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Great job Neal. At least Vazquez was decent. Wow...I guess I expect more out of a high-priced pitcher than 5.1-5 ER.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) So glad he went to the bullpen. And no blame for Vazquez?

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:32 PM) Let me join the sarcasm parade here ... great job by Cotts huh? The book is out on him...jump on the fastball, and don't worry about anything else. You can tell that Markakis was sitting on that fastball.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) Well there is the usual Javy Vazquez 5 runs by 6 innings that we are used to seeing. Nice job Cotts. It's amazing that the same thing happened that we've all complained about recently. I can't wait to hear Ozzie's excuses this time.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Fish it. I'm gone. You guys enjoy the rest of the game. I've had enough of you people for one day. A home run is a home run...period.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
The good news is Vazquez is now in line to get his 100th loss of his career. Ozzie leaving him in to possibly get the loss goes against the way he's managed ever since he's got here. I really would love to know why he manages Vazquez different than everyone else.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) Well, I can see why he was hesitant to go to the bullpen. Neal sucks for a second straight day. Cotts has allowed one of the two batters he's faced to reach. That's about the same rate for all of our starters recently.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) Oh hell. That's a routine flyball. It doesn't reflect on Javy's pitching ability at all. I hope this is sarcasm. If not, we might as well give Gload's grand slam back.

7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
Another situation where Ozzie puts his relievers in a terrible spot by not just letting them start the inning. He's done this about 20 times in the last month and a half.
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
And there goes the lead. Can we trade Vazquez for no one?
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) Yeah. That 318 foot homer was really crushed. Who cares...it was a homer. The guy has PROVEN this season that the 3rd time through the order, and after 75 pitches, he's an absolute liability.
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
Does anyone make a 2 run lead seem smaller than Vazquez?
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
Good job Ozzie...leave Vazquez in long enough to possibly get the loss.
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
Don't you just love thought that we have Cotts warming up, and Ozzie let Vazquez start the inning with 2 of the first 3 batters being lefty?
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) Now Mr. 6th inning just plunked someone. How many fishing times does it have to happen before ozzie figures it out. I still blame whoever put on that golf outing in Venezuela during the offseason.
-
7/30/06 White Sox v. Orioles
Well, he'll be on second soon.

QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:18 PM) Really? At the thesis defense I've been to, the profs have been hard ashes about the students being able to back up their numbers with facts... Santana has 2.14 is era over the past three years against the sox... Mainly due to 2005 when he dominated the sox and had a sub 1 era in about 40 innings. I didn't say Santana's career numbers. I said in his recent outings (meaning his last 10 starts or so). We destroyed him early on about three years ago, when they thought he had some arm issues. We ended up beating him like 16-7 in a game.
