  1. If our top of the order doesn't produce tonight, we're not scoring many runs. Our 6-7-8-9 might be the worst in Sox history tonight.
  2. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) I would almost rather see Carl go 0-3 rather than 2-3 just so he can sit his ass on the bench. I hope..... Do you really think Ozzie will make a change? He already said he was going to sit him, but he didn't. Everett doesn't have a f***ing prayer at the plate....YET HE KEEPS PLAYING!
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) Well, subtract 9 months...and I think we're right around the time of Soxfest last winter, and right before Spring Training. Kinda like when the A's had like 3 players who had kids exactly 9 months after the All-Star Break.
  4. I hope Everett has fun next year playing with his one year, one million dollar contract. We'll see how much complaining he does when he's the back-up DH on the Yankees.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) And Fathom, that also ignores the fact that all 3 of those guys should be better offensive players than they have been this year. Just to toss that in...each one of them should be better than they have been (Ditto AJ). Not just talking historical production...mainly just in terms of potential ability and what we've seen those guys do in stretches. Until they prove it again, there's no way to know what their offensive potential is. Crede and Uribe are always going to be streaky hitters, who either look really good or just awful.
  6. Rowand's a perfect outfielder if you have an above average offense besides him. The problem is that between him, Uribe, and Crede, you have three guys who are more defensive players than they are offensive. That's fine and dandy in the NL, but in the AL, you have to be able to score.
  7. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) It's also odd cause even Hawk and DJ were saying the same thing and they usually back Ozzie up so something must be going on if they are not agreeing with him, even on the air. Those two, along with Melton, have been very open about some of their criticisms with Ozzie's managing. DJ continues to ask questions regarding why a starting pitcher is still in the game.
  8. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Pods, LF Gooch, 2B Rowand, CF PK, 1B Dye, RF Carl, DH Ozuna, 3B Widger, C Uribe, SS McCarthy, RHP. Everyone can relax.....Everett is in the lineup!!!!!
  9. With the likely 6-7-8-9 tonight of Everett, Widger, Uribe, and Ozuna, these are the numbers for these guys: 11-76, 8-45, 5-41, and 5-31. Between the 4 guys, they're 29 for their last 193. That's a stunning .150 batting average. Good luck Brandon, you're going to need it.
  10. Congrats to Crede on the baby. Of course, last time a player on the Sox had to miss a game due to wife giving bith (AJP), they came back as cold as possible. I have to assume Everett is playing tonight then if there's no special mention.
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) You can't expect these teams to lose. They are playing mediocre teams, and expect to win. The White Sox are in the same boat, unfortunately they gave one away last night, and better show up with some intensity and purpose tonight, or it will happen again. Unlike the Jays and Orioles, the Tigers have a very talented lineup. They're much more competitive than those two AL East teams are.
  12. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) I'm not expecting, I'm hoping. I just want this thing over with, It's driving me CRAZY!! All we needed was for Baltimore to win one game against both of these teams in the last few weeks, and we would have been in the driver's seat. A loss tonight = panic! The Sox need to stop losing games that are tied going into the 7th inning. It's happened far too often in the last month.
  13. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) or if he had a stat book with him that had every stat known to man in it so he knew exactly what AJ's numbers were against lefties and what Walkers numbers are. I hope you're not serious.
  14. QUOTE(Clarkdog @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:29 PM) Sorry, I may not have been clear. I certainly don't believe that KW signed Rowand simply so he could trade him in 2005. But the length and size of his contract give KW some flexibility to move him in 2006 or 2007 if he wanted to and get something of value in return. With his age and his 2004 season, I firmly believe KW thought he had his center fielder for the next 4 years.
  15. 3-1 Red Sox in the 6th. Ortiz has 142 RBI, and Manny has 136.
  16. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:25 PM) Give Carl a few days off to try and get him back on track Carl Everett is not bigger than this team. I don't understand the philosophy that a lot of people have that this team needs Carl Everett. There's one integral part of our offense, and it's Paul Konerko.
  17. Things Carl Everett doesn't believe in: - dinosaurs - homosexuals - demotions - line drives
  18. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) The lineup I like against righties now would have Gload at 1B and PK DHing. Gload is another lefthanded bat in the lineup, plays the field well, and can give PK a day or two off in the field. Thoughts? If Gload isn't getting playing time against a righty, he's not going to be in there against a lefty. Like it or not, Gload's in the doghouse.
  19. 2-1 Boston in the top of the 5th. The Blue Jays lineup resembles the Twins lineup we faced on Sunday.
  20. What's the harm in using the following lineup for tonight: - Pods DH - Iguchi - Rowand - PK - Dye - Crede - Widger (he's done a great job catching McCarthy) - Anderson LF - Uribe
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) Which is exactly the reason that Aaron shouldn't be batting #2 or #3 in this line up. He can't bunt to save his life, and his power numbers are way down. He needs to be #6ish in the line up. Against a lefty, I have no problem with Rowand batting 3rd. He should have been there all season. Against a righty, Rowand should be batting 7th. What I don't understand is why we don't use more hit-and-runs with Rowand at the plate. The more you make him focus on staying on the pitch, the better he'll be. I listed to the postgame show last night, and people were just irate that Ozzie keeps asking him to bunt. Bill Melton was very, very critical of things last night.
  22. 2-0 Red Sox in the bottom of the 3rd.
  23. Remember when Everett was hitting over .300 against lefties? Well, that number is down to .263 with a .715 OPS. Why do we keep insisting that we need him for the playoffs? If he keeps staying in the lineup, there might not be a playoff game to be played. He's had plenty of chances to get out of this slump, and he continues to fail.
  24. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) Everett is hitting .145 (11-for-76) in his last 21 games. :headshake And that .145 is softer than Jim Parque's change-up.
  25. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Carl needs a day off. If not a couple. Hopefully either he'll pull it together tonight or the break will help. He can be real useful in the playoffs...just not as a strikeout victim. He needed a few days off 3 weeks ago. Keeping him in the lineup EVERY DAY has done nothing but put this offense in a hole. Considering we have quite a few guys who are struggling (Rowand, Uribe, AJP), we can't afford to keep him in the lineup.
