Sox vs Royals 4-18
Good swing by Pods....pathetic swing by Anderson.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
Anderson has a huge hitch in his swing right now. Was it this bad last season? I honestly can't remember.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
I don't know what that pitch was that he just threw, but if it's his changeup, just keep it in the bag for right now. It was a 85 mph meatball down the plate.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Quit f***ing around on the outer half for crying out loud DJ was rather angry in his analysis of Garland's approach now. Way to go DJ!

Sox vs Royals 4-18
Ha, I think Garland throws his first changeup of the game, and it's destroyed to the opposite field. Stick with the sinker Jon!

QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) DeJesus hurt again? It's too bad....Costa's swinging the bat a lot better right now than him.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
BTW, Preston Wilson has now K'd in at least his last 6 at-bats.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
This ump seems to have a tight zone for Garland so far.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
You could tell just in the first inning how much better righties pick up Affeldt than the lefties do. Today would be a nice day to get some production from the bottom of the order.

Sox vs Royals 4-18
Quite a change from the last time we faced Affeldt in the first inning.

Pierzynski and Balco
I think it's safe to say that two of the biggest reasons that AJP had his highest homer total were his change in approach at the plate (went from a gap hitter to more of a home run hitter) and that he was playing at a homer's park (compared to San Fran, which plays very deep).

Pierzynski and Balco
QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 11:46 PM) thats dissapointing First, don't jump to conclusions. Second, don't be naive about which players did roids, and which didn't. EVERY team in baseball had players that were on the juice a few years ago. AJP wasn't on the Sox then, so I don't really care if he was on them or not.
-
Pierzynski and Balco
There's been long standing rumors that AJP was connected to BALCO. I'm not saying he did steroids, but many people knew that he was supposed to testify in the case.

Farmer and Singleton
I haven't had the chance to listen to them much this year, but I had the pleasure to listen to them in the final few innings last night. It was absolutely pathetic. Farmer asks Singleton who the toughest pitching staff was that he ever faced. It took Singleton about 25 minutes to come up with an answer. Not only that, but Singleton doesn't even have cable at his house right now, so he can't watch what's going on in other games.

Backup Outfielders and now Relievers
Matt Lawton is a lefty, I'm 100 percent sure of it. If I'm wrong, I promise I will never post again on soxtalk (I sense a lot of people are praying that Lawton is a switch-hitter now).

Backup Outfielders and now Relievers
QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Matt Lawton is available from Seattle as well. I know he used roids, but he was the only to stand up and take his licks for doing so. He's a switch-hitter that can play all 3 OF positions and can probably be had for Ozuna. They want a RH hitting infielder. We need a RH hitter if the OF. He's a lefty....and washed up.

Contreras and Contracts
The impressive thing about Contreras right now is that I don't even think he's close to having his great forkball yet. I went home and watched the tape of the game last night, and he was mowing hitters down with his sidearm fastball/slider.

Sox vs Royals 4/17
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 02:24 AM) Funny how that works, huh. Logan looked good as well. 2.45 ERA woohoo For the record, I was busy at work, and couldn't post after the 5th inning.

Sox vs Royals 4/17
I miss the days of Timo leading off and Carl batting 3rd.

Sox vs Royals 4/17
Is it too much to ask for an uneventful 5th inning?

Sox vs Royals 4/17
QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) At least he still has the shutout!! If Mientkiewicz leads off next inning with a homer, you ought to be suspended for a week.

QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 18, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) Well it was before Grudz doubled I was going to give you one of these :finger until I saw that your favorite moment was when the Sox traded for Parkman. Any Major League 2 reference gives you a break in my book.

Anderson not first to get off so slowly
QUOTE(shoota @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 03:46 PM) I'm willing to give Anderson a little more time because of his defense, but how come he can't be good right away like Matt Murton. That guy doesn't swing at garbage and didn't need a learning curve. Murton's approach is great at the plate. He has an incredible short swing, and hits to all fields. He looks like a 10 year veteran compared to Anderson.

How good is this team?
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 04:04 AM) From top to bottom, this division is MUCH tougher then it was last year. KC is not a team that you can kick the s*** out of, they will battle you. Detroit is much improved. Cleveland may have regressed slightly, but they will battle you as well. Oh, and by the way, there's this team from Minnesota that will kick and claw their way through the division as well. The Twins are significantly better, in my opinion. The additions of Castillo and Liriano to the roster, as well as getting rid of the free-swinging Jones will help their consistency.

No more tarp sliding for Buehrle
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 17, 2006 -> 04:04 AM) It's a giant slip n slide though. For all we know Mark has one at home and does this every day. Yeah....but there's not a giant mound in the middle of Buehrle's yard (at least I don't think). All it takes is one time for Buehrle to not correct judge where the bases are, and he could easily bust his shoulder. I love Buerhle's enthusiasm, but I can see why the Sox brass would put a stop to it.
