Sox @ Angels - ALCS Game 4
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) The guy had 70 stolen bases last year and got thrown out 12 or 13 times when everyone knew he'd be running, he was stealing everything in the first half when everyone knew he was going, now all the sudden he just can't steal bases anymore?? BULL, a groin injury slows you down so much. Pods has been quoted many times in the last month saying it's not the injury, it's his timing and confidence.

Rowand looks like absolute s*** at the plate. Will someone please tell him to get his hands out away from his body?

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) LOL> Its hilarious how you hate on Pods. Like he's been trying to get thrown out in the second half, nevermind the fact that his legs aren't near 100 %. Almost everyone in the majors would love to have Pods. Please stop using the injury excuse for Pods. He's said he's been as healthy as he can be at this point in the season. It's all about confidence, rhythm, and predictability with Pods.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Looked like a line out Yeah, that was solid base running, as he made sure that he didn't make the final out on the bases.

That wasn't even close. He was clearly out.

QUOTE(Felix @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) Eh.. Finley is throwing it from centerfield, and his arm isnt that bad if I remember. Its not really bad baserunning imo. Iguchi made it to 2nd on a more shallow fly ball.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) Yep. Terrible on the paths too. HE blows. And lets not even get into his clutchness, or lack thereof. Huh? You were being sarcastic earlier when you said he's really been bad recently. However, his base running and clutch ability has been beyond pathetic for far too long.

Bad base running by Pods. No shock.

Be nice if we get that run right back.

Someone wake Crede the f*** up. With Molina running, he should have never even tried to go after that ball.

Not good Freddy. He's been beating lefties with the changeup tonight, and then he throws a meatball on the first pitch.

I can't believe McCarver said that the AJP/Paul played would have definitely been overturned if there was instant replay.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 16, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) I guess the fix is in. And i thought the Chicago Mafia were mia? I have a close friend who's a Cubs fan and an ND fan. He hasn't been too happy with officiating this week.

We can't expect to get the benefit of the call the rest of this series unfortunately. Let's just take it to them, and not put the umps in a chance to redeem these calls for the Angels.

Wow, what a fantastic double play!! No walks Garcia, and you'll be fine.

Garcia's the last pitcher we can count on to keep a lead.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:51 PM) I watched more of the Michigan game, but there was one call where I nearly threw my remote at the TV. ND had 3rd and 20 deep in their own end, there appeared to be a fumble. And a huge scrum ensued trying to get the ball. -- Players from both sides were pulling the other teams players off the pile. I saw punches thrown and one guy appeared to kick another player who was on the ground. The whole time the refs were trying to figure out who had the ball. Eventually they ruled ND had recovered. 4th and a bajillion. -- Oh wait there was ONE personal foul on the play. It just happens to be on USC. First down ND. If you go back and look in this thread, you'll see that I nominated that play as the 2nd worst officiated play I've seen this week.

The funny thing is that a ton of ND fans are b****ing that they got screwed. The whole game, they were the definite benefit of a majority of the calls. Kudos to the officiating crew for keeping their composure in the last few seconds, even though I'm not so sure if the ball should have been spotted on the one. Of course, I'm still confused why the clock started up again after the fumble.

As freaky as that ending was, the refs seemed to have got it exactly right.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Yeah, but I *REALLY* want him in the Sox system. So there. Konerko for Wood? Sure, right after we trade Buehrle for Delmon Young.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) USC doesnt believe in first halves. USC will win, no doubt in my mind. These refs are doing USC no favors either. That personal foul call on the fumble was the worst call I've seen all week......ok, 2nd worst!

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Oct 15, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) Since this seems to be "Hot Stove" thread for the time being, and since most of us have a woody for Brian Giles, I thought I'd post this: Rosenthal Article I'd feel good about our chances of signing him if the main competition was the Cardinals or Cubs. If it's between the Sox and Cubs/Cardinals, I don't like our chances at all. Giles knows the NL pitching a hell of a lot better now than he does the AL, and both of those teams are likely to have a lot of money to spend. Giles likely doesn't want to be brought over to DH.
