  1. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Ozzie likes to get pitchers their wins. Maybe Ozzie thought it was a little more important to get Jon his first victory under his belt then the off chance they might blow this game all together. This is game 9 of a long fricken season...maybe just maybe Ozzie knows what he is doing, You mean the same way he kept Garland in forever in the first game, and a 6 run Sox lead turned into a 4 run loss? I'd hope Ozzie is confident enough in Garland's stuff that he knows he'll have plenty of more opportunities for the win in his 30+ other starts.
  2. QUOTE(Felix @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:07 PM) Single to left. Pods overran the ball, leaving it behind and allowing the hitter go to second. He's quite the well-rounded player, isn't he?
  3. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) I have a bad feeling that Ozzie leaving Garland out there to long is going to burn us. Yep....it's called momentum. That 5th inning gave the Tigers hope in this game.
  4. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:06 PM) 10-8. Is that going to be un-earned? What happened?
  5. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 07:01 PM) If he proved he can compete at the major league level, why the eff would you pull him with an 8 run lead? I never said pull him with an 8 run lead. I think when it got to be 10-6, that's when he should have been pulled. The thing is, there shouldn't be any reason to argue. It's simply awful that Garland has been able to coast with these two huge leads he's had so far this year.
  6. Was AJP's deep fly out close to going out?
  7. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) So you give up on a guy after 1 1/2 starts? ? This is Ozzie's style: here's the ball, you get yourself in a mess, you're gonna have to pitch out of it, I'm not bailing your ass out, now go get it done, I'll be in the dugout, see you in the 9th. Garland's not some rookie. He proved last year that he can compete at the MLB level. However, you're doing your team a disservice by keeping him in the game when it's obvious that he has nothing in the tank TODAY!
  8. 10.1 innings for Garland, and a whopping 16 earned runs.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:50 PM) Heads, its not even worth it. Funny there are certain posters that seem to come around all the sudden the game turns, isnt it? For the record, I just got back from lunch about 20 minutes ago. By the time I got done reading this whole thread, Garland was on the verge of blowing it.
  10. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) He had an 8 run lead and he's trying to save the pen. You'd think Jon could hold it. We have plenty of people ready in the pen today. And this is almost deja vu from Garland's first outing.
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Ozzie is just awful. Everyone and their mother can tell that Garland is done. Ozzie has just given the Tigers 2 runs. Yeah, there's no f***ing reason for keeping him in after it went to 10-6. For someone that is supposed to care more about the team than statistics, Ozzie neglected the team in an effort to get Garland the win.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 06:48 PM) Wtf does Ozzie wait so long to pull a guy who doesn't have it? It's blatantly obvious....he wants Garland to get the win. In the meanwhile, the Tigers are right back in this game now.
  13. Is anyone warming up? I hope Ozzie learned from a similar situation against KC last Garland outing.
  14. This is pathetic by Garland right now. He's keeping the Tigers in this game. Ozzie needs to have a quick hook with him right now. Another base runner or two, and he should be pulled.
  15. Man, do our 9/1 hitters ever suck!
  16. I know most aren't too optimistic about today's game, even though Garland pitched great vs the Tigers last year. I don't know how long we can keep winning games though with our 9/1 hitters doing nothing.
  17. QUOTE(Dan @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) give the kid some time and let him work his way into the season with coop at his side. There's only so much Coop can do if Colonel Sanders is on the other side of Jenks.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) Released, not with the Tigers any more. Yeah, I know. It's a long-running inside joke after I made a completely baseless prediction last year that Pena would be our 1B this season. Rarely a week goes by where either Greasy or Rowand don't mock me for that statement.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) How bout some love for Jose too. He was awesome. Made one of the better hitting teams so far look foolish! I don't understand the lack of lefties in the Tigers lineup against Jose. Where's my man Carlos Pena!!!
  20. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) Take the rest of the week off, Scotty! Can we add a "PLEASE" after "Scotty"?
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) At least Iguchi's getting on. 2nd best OBP on the team. He looks really good at the plate. Yeah, he looks confident and is taking pitches nicely.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) Good lord Jim Thome! Should there be a question mark after Thome?
  23. With Jenks, I'm very happy to see him come right back after allowing the 2 run homer, and putting Infante away quickly. If that was Koch, he would have given up the homer, and then walked the next batter on 4 pitches.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Last year April was a suckfest for closers, off the top of my head I know that Lidge and Chad Cordero have already had some issues this year. Bobby might not be pitching great right now but he's getting the job done when he has to. We won....end of story. It's just too bad we can't get people on base for Thome.
  25. I didn't see Jenks pitch today, but his Monday performance against the Tigers was as dominant a performance we've seen from him (outside of Game 1 of the WS). Jenks is never going to have pinpoint control. And yes, he's going to blow his fair share of games. However, he's rebounded quite well as of now from his awful Spring Training, in my opinion. Now, we have got to get our 9/1 hitters going in our lineup. That should be our biggest concern.
