  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:59 AM) Awwwww ... "I won't post in the game threads for the rest of the year" The team sucked tonite, tomorrow is another day, this is gonna go down to the wire. No one said it'd be easy. And I told you the next day that it was pointless to not post in the gamethreads, as that's where all the conversation took place on games where we lost (since there's no losers thread). I do think it's so great of you to show up in here and pick out one post of mine to critcize it. The sad thing is that I had just got done telling someone not to lose hope. Why don't you do yourself a favor and just put me on ignore? I do love how I seem to be your punching bag, as you didn't have much of a problem with me until the Sox began this epic collapse?
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) Again...the question is whether or not you blame the pitcher when they're left in against a power hitter after throwing 105 pitches (same deal as 103 last night) No, that's a situation where a lefty reliever has to be brought in.
  3. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:55 AM) what hit? this is the franchise that has gone the second longest without winning a championship. this is the franchise that THREW a world series. this is the franchise that cuts off it's nose to spite it's face. it doesn't really matter. they've crushed most of their fandom anyways. And you'd lose even more fans. I could care less about attendance if it didn't have a big impact on our payroll. Our minor league development isn nowhere good enough to provide cheap players on a consistent basis.
  4. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) Let me qualify my statement: pitched very well until Ozzie left him in for one too many batter, yet again. Can't we just say it was a situation of "Ozzie being Ozzie"? I've never seen a manager consistently get burned so often leaving his starting pitchers in for too long as I've seen from Ozzie in the last 50 games.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:53 AM) Our hitters also seem to miss the 91 mph fastball down the cock with such regularity. Same pitch to the injuns gets parked into the stands. Our hitting just flat out sucks. Of course, since I never played professional baseball, I'm not allowed to question Greg Walker's ability.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:52 AM) what's the wild card situation now? I think Yankees won and Red Sox lost, so that means Red Sox are a half game behind the tribe? Sox are 3 up in wild card? 3.5
  7. QUOTE(bigred3535 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) Just got home...disappointing to say the least. Seems like Garland pitched very well. He pitched solid, but 7-5 isn't "very well".
  8. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) making the playoffs and getting swept in 3 straight ya mean. ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN MISSING THE PLAYOFFS! The franchise would take a massive hit if they completely collapse.
  9. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:48 AM) what gets me is how simple this is. if Jon shuts them out tonight, we're not only fine, we're actually safe to win this damn division. Doesn't happen in our home part and suddenly the outlook is as bleak as ever with tomorrow's automatic loss to go with the 3 games we will lose in cleveland to close the season. Here's the real simple answer: the Indians offense is too f***ing good now to get consistently shut down. When's the last time one of our starters pitched a good game against a contending team (Twins aren't contenders). Probably McCarthy's start vs Red Sox.
  10. Besides the slight possibility that the backlash against Ozzie will be so great that JR has to fire him this offseason, the only positive about a potential collapse is that Hawk will have some amazing quotes the last week of the season. Could you imagine him having to eat crow if the Indians clinch the division on the field vs the Sox? MERCY
  11. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) this team proves to the nation why chicago baseball is a laughingstock It's funny that I'm the one saying this, but keep the faith buddy! This team still has a veyr good chance of making the playoffs.
  12. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) . Can anybody not blast the team after this one???? Yes, and respectfully, he's in this game thread.
  13. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) I would too and I"d put him in our 3 or 5 hole. Good call on the 3rd hole hitter. I'M SO f***ING SICK OF SEEING EVERETT SWING STRAIGHT UP ON EVERY PITCH!
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) Maybe if we get blown out Ozzie will get his head out of his ass and realize we are playing like s***...maybe... I've been hoping for that for 40 games now, and nothing has happened. Hell, there were games I wanted the Sox to get no-hit once they were losing because I thought maybe they'd change up the offense someway. This is the ship we're riding on, and there's 11 games before we know the outcome. Embrace the two lines in my signature.
  15. So, what team will Baj sign with in the offseason?
  16. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Never once did I say I'd rather have Pods over Sizemore all things being equal. I said that Pods is a much better #1 hole hitter and better at getting on base when you need it. Gotcha...I'll still take Sizemore
  17. If you listen to DJ, you can tell the organization isn't too high on Baj. I wish the best for him, but you can tell there are people in the org. who think he's a AAAA pitcher.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:39 AM) Didn't Garland outpitch santana last year in a 1-0 game? 2-1. Carlos Lee homered in the first for both runs. Maybe Pods can homer tomorrow to win 1-0?
  19. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) 6 zip. This is a beatdown. Good morning, good evening, good night AL Central. THE WILD CARD IS OUR BEST FRIEND RIGHT NOW!
  20. Hey jphat....still rather have Pods than Sizemore?
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Brandon will have to give up negative 1 runs tomorrow for us to win Our just 1 hit....OH f***, THAT DIDN'T WORK BEFORE!
  22. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) 1 last thought on Lawton... WHERE WOULD HE PLAY...MAYBE SIT NEXT TO GRIFFEY ON THE BENCH Someone like Lawton could have started for two weeks when Pods got hurt, and then been our 4th outfielder when Pods returned.
  23. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) He's f***ing hurt, and he's been that way since the break. It killed his effectiveness on the bases. Where do you guys get this stuff. If he's hurt, can't steal, can't defend, and can't drive in runs, then bench his f***ing ass.
  24. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:34 AM) He leads the f***ing league in stolen bases. He stopped stealing once he got hurt. That's what he's saying....he's worthless now that he can't steal.
  25. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) Jenks looks good but he needs some experience in some tight games, even though monday he came in with guys on already and yesterday rowand blew it, he just wasn't locating his curveball like he should or else they would've had no chance. Jenks is overthrowing everything. His curve is either in the dirt because he overthrows it, or up high because he's just aiming it. He hasn't been able to throw it naturally it seems for a few games. He'll continue to give up hard hit balls if he keeps the fastball down.
