  1. MVP- Konerko Pitcher- Contreras/Garland Surprise- Cotts/Politte/Hermanson Disappointment- Rowand/Shingo
  2. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Its an interesting question. But one I would LOVE to face. Yes it is.
  3. Here's a question I waited for the game to end to ask: If the Sox win tomorrow, they win the AL Central due to head-to-head tiebreak. Do the Sox go all out against Cleveland, or rest the pitchers/players?
  4. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) And just for the record, I agree with you Randar that Rowand is overrated on this board defensively. His arm is what seperates him from the top defensive players.
  5. Wohoo! If I smoked, I would need a cigarette. But since I don't, I'll have to get a slurpee.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Thats a solid average. Big difference between Dunn and his .250ish avg. Yes it is. I didn't know we were referring to Dunn in that situation.
  7. Why does this have to be difficult? Thankfully Shelton's fly ball was just a long out.
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) They all hit for average though. Manny was in the .270-.280 range this season for a while, but was still driving in runs.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Touche...we'll agree to disagree How come no one can ever be that nice when they disagree w/me?
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) Jason, I personally don't put a whole lot of stock into BA. I'll look at slugging and OBP over BA any day. I think a mix of both on your team is a great way to go. You need guys to get on base, but you also need guys to be able to get hits and knock runs in. That's why the Damon/Ortiz/Manny trio is so awesome.
  11. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) ATTN Please: If I see again that ANYONE wants Juan Pierre I'm going to puke. He is a lesser version of Pods at the plate this year. He hasn't been near as good as Pods. .274 .326 .352 No thank you. ^^^^ He's been awful this year.
  12. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Don't worry Ozzie isn't leaving Chicago. This is the only place he'll manage. I think most will agree w/me on this: how about we win the whole f***ing thing, and call his bluff?
  13. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) Its cause he's not shooting up with Raffy anymore. And we all know you'd be an steroid attic if you shot up alone. Canseco did say he was a user in his book.
  14. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) I bet he stays here for a little less money. we gave him the second chance, and he really likes it here. I doubt TONS of money means a whole lot to a guy like him. It probably means more to him than most FA pitchers. He hasn't been cashing in his whole career, so this is his one chance to really break the bank (even though he had a big deal coming into the majors).
  15. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:42 AM) I don't want to trade Contreras either, but just to play Devil's Advocate/Fathom, he's going to be a free agent after next year, so if he puts up numbers like he did the 2nd half of this year, he'll be too expensive for us, and if he doesn't put up those numbers, then we'd have missed the chance to trade him at his highest value (this offseason) Absolutely my thinking
  16. PODS STILL CAN'T DRIVE IN RUNNERS!
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) I swear, if the Sox make that deal I'd go shoot the GM. I would barely give up Chris Young for Adam Dunn, let alone a stud pitcher like Contreras. How about for Tex?
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) Maybe your right, but that still doesn't get past what it would cost to get him. You could get Delgado (whose better...although he gets paid more) without giving up the farm. You know what my proposed trade is: Contreras, Marte, and Sweeney for Dunn and another player.
  19. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) I am sick of people saying that the marlins want out of delgado's contract and the same with beltre. Find me some examples of teams signing players to large 3/4 year deal and immediately trading them the following year. Both beltre and delgado will be on their respective teams next year. Marlins has to deal with getting their own park, from what I've heard.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) I love Pablo. Let him DH. The best thing is that he's been spectacular at 3b lately.
  21. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) I'll puke if that happens. Nomar = Frank (ie I don't want anyone you can't count on being healthy). Dunn is as over-rated as it gets. Sure he'd be great, but this guy doesn't have a clue how to execute. He went a couple years without a sac fly or something. Pathetic. I agree that Dunn doesn't execute very well. But I think it's more of a product of his team's philosophy. Just like the way Pods would swing for the fences with everyone else on the Brewers, the Reds team is an all or nothing team also.
  22. ROWAND!!! Haha....you just have to laugh.
  23. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) adam dunn? he can't play the field. and he whiffs about a million times pass on that. He'd be the best offensive player on our team the second he puts on the jersey. Check out his OPS before you start trashing him.
  24. Not to overanalzye (it's what I do best), but Rowand is flying out over the plate on the pitch. That's the reason he keeps jamming himself.
  25. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Unless he turns down a 5yr 15 mill per season deal I won't be smearing him. He's one of my all time favorite White Sox. The guy is the epitome of grinder. I agree, but it was a little disappointing to see the way we treaded Carlos and Ordonez when they left.
