  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:35 PM) Not an easy play on the groundout to Cintron to end the inning, he had to shuffle quickly to his right and flip to Uribe all in one motion. Nice play. Good point, he didn't have a whole lot of time on that play.
  2. QUOTE(q\/\/3r+y @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) Garcia gonna get smoffed throwing like this. His off-speed stuff is not spectacular... he needs that 93-95 ( he can throw even harder) mile an hour fastball to set up everything else. Garcia hasn't reached 95 mph since he's been here. He's been in the low 90s since he's been here.
  3. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:34 PM) i think freddy garcia is taking his cues this season from an old indians pitcher...........RICK VAUGHN from Major Leage II So that pitch to Victor Martinez was "the masturbator"?
  4. Ok, could have been a lot worse. Maybe it was the wake-up call that Garcia needed.
  5. Pods = Mr. Smooth in the outfield
  6. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) hmm... i wonder if brandon mccarthy is available today I hope not
  7. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) As I mentioned a couple of times this spring, I'm worried about Freddy Garcia's health. Yeah, I'm not sure if it's physical or mental with him though. I thought he was throwing around 90 mph during the WBC.
  8. Ok....start throwing some pitches with "stuff" Garcia. A lot of these pitches are just rolling to the plate.
  9. QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) How deep was it though? 1 or 2 rows out.
  10. This park plays so small. Was that a fastball he hit out?
  11. This game has been very strange so far. Thome had a great swing on that pitch.
  12. Nice first hit Cintron!
  13. QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) DJ commenting that Garcia's velo is down, and stating he'll rear back and fire it when he needs to. Interesting. You can tell Garcia is trying to hit his spots. I'm not exactly thrilled that he's trying to become Greg Maddux, but I'm willing to see how his control is. The only thing that could hurt him is that the lower velocity makes his slider less effective as a strikeout pitch.
  14. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 01:43 AM) Does anyone think this will boast his draft value? Nope. Scouts know who the best point guard(s) really are. Congratulations to Dee for winning a popularity contest.
  15. I've been looking over the lineups today, and I have to say that most of the teams don't have a lot of talent. I've been impressed with the lineups of the Cubs (sad to say), Mets, and Phillies. Also, I'm shocked by how many relievers that have pitched today that I've never heard of.
  16. Name recognition is a beautiful thing for people sometimes.
  17. Anyone else notice that Marte came in and gave up the go-ahead hit today?
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 05:43 PM) His velocity was way down and he got hit hard. Its something we brought up on the show today. By far the least impressive of everyone that played last night. According to statistics based on balls put in play, Politte was the luckiest pitcher in baseball last season. His fastball was down a couple of mph, and didn't seem to have a lot of zip. It's still early though, so hopefully his arm strength will build up. McCarthy looked great last night though, which was good to see. Also, Thornton's never going to have pinpoint control. If he can throw strikes, he'll be a useful reliever.
  19. I don't say this about many players, but Thome could hit .200 this year with 15 homers, and I would still root for him and like him. He's a great guy, and the type of person who you know respects the game and his teammates. It's going to be fun to watch him bat this season.
  20. I had great tickets for it, saw a solid show, and got home in time to see the Sox onslaught tonight.
  21. I'm not going to be able to watch the game live tonight, but I just wanted to say Go Sox!
  22. Who's in the pen today?
  23. I don't buy this rumor, but if it's true, it's a terrible trade for the Cubs. Carlos Lee isn't exactly a proven winner. Also, he's a free agent after this season. Giving up 3 of the best young players in your organization for Carlos would be dumb!
  24. I LOVE how we can have more lefties in the lineup against tough righties who have potentially dominating sliders.
