In the age of steroids, it's too hard to tell who was on the juice and who wasn't. Look how many players went from superstar to league average this season? In past years, there used to be a lot more players who went from league average to superstar. However, with drug testing involved, it's made it a whole new game. I bet the Mariners want to know what happened to Beltre's 50 homer power. I bet the Orioles wish they didn't spend so much more on Javy Lopez now. I put a hell of a lot more stock into how a player performed in 2005 compared to 2004. If you have someone like Pujols or ARod who kept up their great stats from previous seasons, then there's no problem with using their previous stats to evaluate them.

Blalock's work ethic and adjustment ability is very poorly thought of by MLB scouts.

In order for the Sox to get the Phillies to pick up a good chunk of his contact, they're going to have to offer a top prospect or two. I have a feeling that the prospect they'll want is Gio. If it equates to the Phillies picking up like 20 million over the next 3 years, I'd be all for that deal.

The huge contacts for Matsui and Eyre only make me think more that PK is gone. With the lack of quality on the market, teams are going to overpay for players. I think the Mets could end up being a big competitor for PK, as they're giving up hope on Furcal and will likely either go after Delgado or PK.

I've been saying for a while that Rowand's arm was extremely subpar for him. He's not even in the picture for best throwing CF in the AL. For some reason, he seemed to play pepper with the pitcher's mound whenever he tried to throw someone out at home. I'm 99 pct sure he didn't have an outfield assist at home plate this season.
