QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) No, thats like cheating. Whats the fun in rooting for a team thats just going to buy whatever it needs? I like rooting for the Sox. Homegrown players, some trades and a few FAs. Jeter, Williams and Rivera are the only Yankees to be with the Yanks before stardom. For the Sox, ARow, PK, Crede, Thomas, Buehrle, Garland, Jenks, McCarthy, Marte and Cotts all came to prominence with us. Some of them were with other organizations, but they never did anything before coming here. We had to take risks on them. The Yanks never do that. Yankees don't do that, but I've heard some people complain that this year's Sox team is just a collection of free agents and traded players. As ridiculous as that is, it's the type of attitude that a lot of people have when it comes to baseballl.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) ive been in and out of the game, what has impressed me most has been the location on the express I think what's impressed me most is his presence. He doesn't look like a skinny kid who's one pitch away from giving up a 450 foot homer today. Instead, he's been in and out, and up and down, with his pitches, and he's been able to get away with some high change-ups by throwing them in the right counts.

Can we trade Young, Sweeney, and Gio for Teixeira? I absolutely love his overall game.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:31 AM) great breaking ball tonight, every fastball is on the black, havent seen much of the change Edit: or not as hawk says he has been using the change lol I must be watching a different game, because he's throwing that change-up a ton. He's kept the Rangers hitters off-balanced all night.

QUOTE(WhiteSox311 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:30 AM) i dont remember him struggling against boston or oakland earlier in the season he killed against baltimore when they were hot remember that 3-2 changeup on tejada NASTAY Garland's clearly pitched better this season than Buehrle against the top teams.

Take Pods out of the game! I can't believe I'm asking for Ozzie to put in Timo.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:20 AM) LOL> i think pablo has the best avg. on this team. Haha. The one thing I always like about Pablo is his hustle. Also, he does a great job of putting the bat on the ball. I really think he'd be better off just playing 2nd base and SS though. I wouldn't mind seeing him on the bench next year. Willie Harris on the other hand....

QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:16 AM) Because teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets blindly sign any player they think is worth it. Remember, the Yankees paid huge sums of money for Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano. Just because they get paid a lot of money doesnt mean theyre stars. At the time they were signed, Randy and Kevin Brown were superstars. Pavano had a great season last year, and a ton of teams went after him. Just cause a player doesn't pan out, it doesn't mean they're overrated.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) Why he's not the #3 hitter I'll never understand. Great point. Might as well give it a try.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) This feels real good. Yes it does. I could feel my blood pressure go way down right when that ball went out. Even in a 5-0 game, I still am a little nervous.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:12 AM) He sucks for the most part. Just having a good month. He was a big time surprise last season. He had some very good power numbers. He was struggling a lot this year, but he seems to have found his power stroke now.

It's crazy to think that the Indians got Sizemore, Lee, and Phillips for Colon, and Phillips was supposed to be the main guy in that trade.

QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:04 AM) Cleveland has also played their last 23 games vs opponents with a record at or below .500 and went 17-6. That sure helps out a lot. And you know what, they have a lot of games against KC/Tampa to end the season. It would be nice if the Twins could take like 4 out of 6 against them. I know Santana will face them this wknd.

Sensational play by Ozuna. Type of play that just makes you laugh after the last week.

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:02 AM) How many players on that team came via trade of players from their good ole days?? I know Sizemore came in the Colon trade, as did Cliff Lee. Hafner was acquired in a trade with Texas, and Broussard was traded from the Reds.

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Peralta and VMart have simply been on FIRE in the month of August!!! and Casey Blake has been damn good, and Sizemore, Hafner, Broussard, and Boone have picked their games up. They just have a dynamic offense that has become the Hulk Hogan of coming back against amazing obstacles.

QUOTE(the southside tiger @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:55 AM) Does anyone realize that Jhonny Peralta has a higher SLG than the great slugger Paul Konerko? Yep, and he's clearly the most underrated player in the AL this season. If PK is so overrated, then why will so many teams be offering him a lot of money this offseason?

If only Ozuna played a solid 3b, I would absolutely love him!

QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) I wish we would trade kong for a player to be named later because he is useless. It cracks me up that some would rather have Erstand at 1b...or even give Gload a chance.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:52 AM) Good job pitching over that. BMacs a different pitcher hwen he locates and has his change. He's keeping the hitters off-balanced. Also, he seems to not be trying to strike out every hitter. Rather, he's keeping his offspeed pitch low, and throwing it at the right time. It was painful to watch that KC outing earlier this year when he kept getting 2 strikes on the hitter, and he just couldn't put them away.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:51 AM) Better than any pitch out of the zone with that lead. No hitter don't matter at all. I agree. When I started typing that post, I didn't take into account the 5-0 lead. You should know me....I could care less about a no-hitter. Just win the damn game!

Good job Ozuna! Great to see McCarthy get past the 5th inning with the lead.
